I'm planning an 11 day trip to Disney in the fall and I'll be staying at the POP with no car. We are thinking of spending a day at Universal or Sea World. What are my transportation options?

We will be at POR 9/20-9/29 with no car and the kids want to go to Sea World for a day. Right now, I am thinking Mears, but not sure if that would be my best option.
And should I arrange it ahead of time? Or is that something that Guest Services at POR can/will set up for me?

The absolute cheapest way would be to use public transportation. In Central Florida, that's the LYNX buses.

Here's a link to the trip planner page of their website:

Use the "choose a location" option instead of putting in the address. Opt for the Attraction/leisure/resort choice on the drop down menuu. Choose Walt Disney's MK as your starting point (you'll begin at the TTC) and then choose Universal's City Walk (or Sea World) as your destination. The website will give you the information on what buses to take and where to transfer. There are even hyperlinks to the bus schedules. One-way fares are $1.50 with free transfers between buses.

If public transportation isn't your cup of tea, then you might want to take a taxi. A one-way fare could cost you in the neighborhood of $40 with tip.

You can also rent a car from Alamo right on Disney property at the Car Care Center or at the Dolphin resort or the Wyndham hotel across from Downtown Disney. In the long run, a single day's rental might be cheaper than taking a cab. However, if you're hesitant to drive on unfamiliar roads you would do better to take the cab or the Lynx.

We have always used Mears service. You call them a day before and tell them what time you want them to pick you up. Once you are at the parks and you are ready to go home, call them an hour before. When we used their services two years ago it was around $14 per person round trip.

We stayed at POP 3 weeks ago and went to Universal via Mears Transportation. They picked us up at the cost of $15 a piece round trip. We had to call when we were ready to be picked up and they were there prompt.

For everyone who has used Mears, is that $15 each including kids? And we will be travelling with a (small for age) 4 year old, will they provide her a safety seat?

Is there a clearly marked area where the Lynx bus stops at TTC? Where is it? Do you pay upon getting on the bus? Are transfers/bus stops announced prior to the transfer/stop?

The Lynx bus stop is around the side to the right at the TTC. You will take bus # 50 to Sea World.

I remember last time we were in Disney staying at All Star they had a bus that picked up right in front of hotel to bring you to Universal, I would imagine Sea World also...

It's good to know about the public transportation. We might try that when we go.

No buses to Universal or Sea world from All Star's.

My family has tried Mears before and had problems through our entire trip. You call them to say that you'll need them, and they show up but it's disorganized and they never tried to find out who called for them or anything. There would literally be 3-4 families fighting over each vehicle when Mears would pull up because they just took the first one to pretty much hop in. It was very unorganized.
