My mother and father are paying for dining plan in december for our trip, and our room, I am very greatful, As a christmas present to our family. They are coming with on our trip. 2 rooms so two packages. Rooms will probably be POP or AoA. Anyway.

Me, dh, dd will be just shy of 3 1/2, in one room, gram and pop in room 2

Gram is insisting on paying for the qsdp. Unless offered free at the time. (dec 17-21 traditionally has).

I was planning on dd3, to have breakfast with the princesses in epcot, i know gram and pop would come to, as they have never been. And also Dh wants to eat with goofy so Chef Mickey or tusker house was planned also, which if Gram and pop could come they would.

I wanted to know if it would be cheaper to upgrade to the regular dp, me pay the difference, so that i could treat my parents to meals and expierences they wouldnt normally, or if It would be wise to pay OOP?

Of course dh, would love ohana too, but I told him no as we had a limit. the credits would be spent on other meals easily if upgraded, 1900 or CP as well for dd.

For every adult, it will be $19/night to upgrade. For every child, $3.49.

It depends on the length of your trip if it would be "worth" it. It's worth playing with a spreadsheet.

it will be cheaper to upgrade one or two meals than to upgrade the plan for an entire trip (you didn't say how long it would be). That said, it might make taking YOUR meals more complicated because you will have to exclude them from TS or pay oop for more meals than you plan on and for about $19 more per night there is a ton of value in upgrading... it could cost you more than twice that PER MEAL to pay for them oop for expensive character meals so basically you'd get twice as many TS for the same cost.

How many nights are you spending? if it is 7 nights it would cost you $266.70 to upgrade them both for 7 nights. Princess breakfast and Chef Mickey's breakfast alone would be about $160 OOP. So for $100 more you get 5 more TS meals for 2 people. Seems like a no brainer to me!
if it is fewer days it will cost you less to upgrade and the value is even more there imo.

We are staying 5 days, 4 nights.

So for the 5 of us: 4 adults 1 kid for 4 days: 317.96 to upgrade.
Princess breakfast alone is about $240 for all 5.
Plus tusker house at $172 for all five, that almost saves us $100 paying for upgrade than paying out of pocket plus we get 2 other meals. Mind made up. Thanks guys.

It's so worth it to upgrade! I love the sit down meals!
Ohana for supper & garden grill for breakfast are awesome!
