Hi,

Has anyone used skyscanner.net before to search for cheaper prices flights?

Using that site I can see a price for emailflights.com & travelup.co.uk that comes out slightly better than booking direct with Virgin.

Anyone heard or used either?

Skyscanner are always our preferred choice! Haven't used the two companies you mentioned but I have used another subsidiary and had no problems.

I use Skyscanner almost every day, their main problem is their prices are often out of date, make sure you get a live quote by clicking thru to the agent.

Never heard of emailflights. Travelup has been showing on searches for about 2 years now, I once booked with them knowing the price was too low, they took payment but then rang me and said the price I had paid didn't include tax as there was an error on there site. I knew when booking so didn't argue, I accepted a refund rather than pay the full price.
They get a few bad reviews but recent ones I have seen on the forums have been complimentary http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews172703.html

We used Travelup last year and would use them again if the price was right. They were good at keeping in touch about changes and were open to negotiation. KLM/Delta changed the time of a flight in Detroit, meaning we ended up having to leave Glasgow at 6.20 am instead of 8am and then had a long stop over in Atlanta. The original changed itinerary saw an even longer stop over in Atlanta, however DH checked flight times and managed to negotiate a better time with them. We felt we could have caught an even earlier connection however they insisted that 2 hours at Atlanta wasn't enough and wouldn't book us on the earlier connection. Tried requesting it in atlanta but by then the flight was fully booked. As I said communication from them was good and we were kept informed throughout. Not their fault that routes were changed, but it has prompted us to use BA this summer to avoid internal flight changes in the USA causing us hassle.

My flights are about £32 cheaper than directly through Virgin Atlantic :) Do you still get the flying miles when booking through a 3rd party?

Yes, you get airmiles with whoever you book with.

Concerns about booking thru agents:
Any changes/problems with flights can be far easier to resolve if dealing direct with the airline. I had 2 booking with Delta a couple of years ago, one direct and one via eBookers. They cancelled one of our flights (Manchester to New York) Delta direct was sorted within 5 mins, changed us to Manch to Atlanta, the other booking with eBookers took almost a week of phonecalls.
Always pay with credit card for extra protection.

Thanks for your replies, they are very helpful.

We are planning on going on 27th October for 2 weeks for 3 adults PE (Virgin) from Manchester with Budget car hire (minivan) and I have been quoted £2431 with ebookers. Seems a great price, what do you think? Never used ebookers before! The booking page asks for frequent flyer numbers and special needs requirements, so asking the right questions.

Am I right in thinking if I pay with credit card I will receive e-tickets and the PE will be k class. Can they hike the price once I've paid?

forgot to mention that Virgin sale price is £2561.69 for flights only.

Also, just found an even cheaper price than £2451 with ebookers, I just changed the car to a Alamo Dodge Grand caravan and it was reduced to £2398.
Sounds to good to be true!

Don't know about class of ticket.
Once you pay they issue tickets they can't hike the price, if they accept payment then notice there is an error they can legally contact you to pay the difference or offer full refund. I have had 3 or 4 price errors(incl biz class for £470) all honoured, 9 times out of 10 they prefer to honour a deal and keep the customer happy than retract the deal and upset a customer.
Good luck.

Hi,
I have always struggled to find any company better value than Expedia. After reading your post I compared the cost of our trip this May £2266 with Expedia including resort fee. The same trip with Ebookers is £2364.84 plus $257.25 resort fee. Also get cash back & Nectar points with Expedia.
As I said I have tried lots of other sites & local agents but most don't even come close.
Just my experience.
Mick.

Well I have just tried expedia, but I got nowhere.
Can only book PE on flight only, but want to add 4 nights at Disney Yacht club too. Using flight only selecting PE you can add hotel on but automatically selects 14 nights.
Tried to book flight and hotel - no option for PE, automatically puts you in economy but you can select how many nights at hotel.

So chatted to someone but went round in circles for a couple of hours. :confused3
