Is there really a difference (besides the price)?
My friend swears by Maui Jim and told me if I ever started wearing them - I would understand the price tag :confused3.

I lose or break too many pairs of sunglasses to spend hundreds of dollars on them. My $10 ones are just fine lol

I took the opposite approach, I figured the expensive ones I would take care of & not misplace. Has worked for 5 years :)

We wear designer sunglasses (expensive) and love them because they are well made. They don't tend to be made "crooked" or uneven. They are not made of flimsy cheap material.

We are not the kind that lose or sit on our sunglasses! You get what you pay for!!!

I always lose my expensive sunglass. I can always find the ones I spent $3.00 on at Target though.

I get the cheapest polarized ones I can find - if they're not polarized, they're worthless regardless of the price. So long as they're lightweight plastic, no metal nose piece, and when I look through them my entire field of vision is shaded, I'm good.

If I am not mistaken.. all Maui Jim are polarized, this will give you less glare and very good when you are by the water or doing a lot of driving. I believe they are all glass lenses. With glass lesnes, it will always give you no distortion on the lenses. Plastic material can give give you a slight, very slight distortion and you don't even notice it (usually on the very edge), especially if the plastic is defective. Maui Jim is definitely one of the top sunlasses you can buy. Most of them, if not all of them have spring hinges for better comfort, less adjustments. The barrel of the screws are much deeper to avoid loosing the screws. It is a much better. With all that said.. I wear the inexpensive sunglasses because I am careless and I tend to loose them. I have had some expensive ones.. still I loose them.

Yeah, I've lost too many pairs to count. I like expensive sunglasses, but I'm too airheaded to risk it.

Me too! I bought a pair by mistake once that were not polarized, and I couldn't for the life of me figure out why the did me no good in the sun! :headache: Duh! I'd kill for a pair of Coach Sunglasses though...I just can't bring myself to pay that much for a pair. Maybe if I get extra money, I'll splurge but right now I'll stick to the cheapies!

I wear sunglasses all the time, even when it is raining/snowing. It has to be almost pitch black for me to take them off. I have really sensitive eyes, I even wear them in the house sometimes.

Anyway, I go through them like water. I constantly lose them, break them, step on them, forget them, etc. I am not generally an airheaded person, but I have real problems with my sunglasses. So, cheap all the way for me!

I don't know if you would consider them "expensive" but I have a pair or Revo's that I love! They are the bestest sunglasses ever!

I am pretty picky about them, but mine are all cheapies. I don't lose them all that often, but with two kinds in the house who like to 'borrow" my stuff so they "can be like daddy", they break from time to time.

Maui Jim sunglasses are the best glasses I've ever had on my nose. I've been wearing them for about 20 years and I will never, ever wear anything else. I just wish I could get them in prescription lenses.

They're worth every penny. I've had several pairs....the company will repair the frames if they break.....I just love them.

I am terrible about keeping up with sunglasses. After losing a pair of $100 Ray Bans 15 years ago, I stick to ones under $5. I usually go to the Dollar Tree and buy all of the ones they have in the particular style I like and put some in my car, my purse, my house and my classroom. That way I'm bound to always have a pair, and if I lose them I don't beat myself up over it!

I have a pair of Ray Bans and they are great! I bought them online (gooddens.com, eyesave.com) for a discounted price. They are the best I've ever had. You can definitely tell the difference.

i always thought the cheapies were fine since i wear contacts and dont need persciption ones-but i recently got a pair of wiley-x' ballistic glasses-there is a HUGE difference.

I am curious about this as well. Not curious enough to drop major cash on sunglasses right now but curious.

Believe it or not, the best sunglasses I've had in recent years is a pair of Bitten by Sarah Jessica Parker ones. I paid about $8 for them at Steve and Barry's and this is my third year to wear them. They made it through 2 cruises, 2 summer camps with children, and 3 trips to Disney and are still going strong. My Target ones broke after the first summer and were twice the price.

Since I'm so impressed with myself to keep up with these $8 ones, I might consider buying pricier ones in the future. =)
