Well they're not exactly giving them away but Virgin travelstore have got some Virgin flights (on a continental ticket) for 345.00
I've just booked 16/9 to 30/9 for this price. Other searches bring Virgin flights up for about 540.00. Dates seem a bit hit & miss on the website but around these dates seem o.k

My mother flew British Airways return to Miami in mid January for £270. The deals are out there, we just need to do the research

We have decided to go with the new airline Fly-blu direct from Birmingham to Sanford. They are now coming out cheaper for the period we are travelling than Virgin and BA with the extra benefit of lots more leg room etc.

Thank goodness for a direct flight from Birmingham at last!!!

Eastender: I have put in the same dates as you on the virgin travel store and it has come up as £480.

Any tips?

Wow, I just looked at that FlyBlu site and would have saved 2k for my family compared to Virgin this Christmas, going to look how much it costs to cancel now with Virgin at this stage and re-book with them.

They also do children up to the age of 13, rather than teh 12 of Virgin and as I live in Coventry, much closer than Manchester.

Thanks for giving the details about them.

I posted this price because often they are here today , gone tomorrow. I tried to book for a friend a couple of days later and it was gone but it is worth playing around with dates because suddenly a little bargain will sometimes show up.

I have just had a look at FlyBlu website and found them quite expensive.
We have 2 trips booked look at comparisons below.
Oct 8th 3wks 2xAd+1xCh Blu £1493 American Airlines MAN-MCO £912
Dec 25th 1wk 4x Ad+1xCh Blu £2207 US Airways MAN-MCO £1575
2 trips would have cost me £1213 more with Blu.
Although compared to rip off Virgin you probably would save a packet.
Shop around the deals are there.

Wayneg,

Do you book with US airlines direct or is there a site you use?

My friends and I are meeting up in Orlando on Dec 26th(Jan 9th). She called this morning to tell me her flights with Virgin cost her 2500pds for 2 adults and 2 kids. She booked with them because they have loads of leg room, stuff for the kids and videos on the back of their seats. She also got a car with that.
Just wanted to pass this on!

I used Expedia.co.uk for both these trips, but my hobby is watching for holiday deals. Don't just book the first price you see, try searching for flights at different times of day rather than the default search settings
eg. midday default search gave me a price of £488/ person
but entering 1.00am outbound and inbound gave me a price of £304 for the same flights.
last year Opodo came up with cheaper continental flights than Expedia.
Prices go up and down different times of day and different days of week(I always find searching on a weekend more expensive)
There are no set rules for finding cheap flights but you need lots of time and patience.
For hotels I like airnet.co.uk there price includes taxes. This Oct I am staying at Homewood suites by Hilton with Breakfast every morning and evening drinks and snacks for 2 hours Mon thru Thurs. £22/night/suite. (price has now gone up)

Has your friend flown with Virgin before? Although they have an adequate seat pitch other airlines now offer more. Both our trips this year (Oct AA & Xmas USairlines) have a 34" pitch. I believe Virgin still only offer 31 or 32". Last year one of our trips was with BMI with only 32" but inflight experience was outstanding.
Best thing about Virgin is direct flight but with at about double the price I will put up with 2 hours in Philly.
Another anoyance I had with Virgin last time I used them, it was cheaper book a car with Top insurance thru airnet.co.uk than booking them with the flights.
Sorry to be down on Virgin as I thought they were the best since sliced bread a few years ago, just been overtaken by other companies.

The Continental/Virgin codeshare flight offer has finished. I believe it finished last Sunday.

Luckily for me, we managed to nab 5 of the tickets from LGW (bit of a pain) to MCO on 18th August - 8 Sept for an amazing £320 including taxes!!!

Thanks Wayneg, my friend is very impatient and figured her husband would change his mind if she didn't book it right away.
