Cheap Place for Parents to Stay

I need some help. I have finally convinced my parents to go on a much needed vacation. They will be driving to Florida with us this Dec.28-Jan 5 and want to go to WDW with us but do not want to stay on-site. My dad says why pay so much for a place to sleep when you will spend most of your time in the parks. We stayed on-site last year and know why, but couldn't convince him. I didn't want to nag him because I was just happy that they were coming with us.
On our first night in Florida we stayed at Magic Castle Inn and woke up early to check-in at ASMo. While I didn't mind staying one night there, I'm not sure if I'd want them to experience a whole week there. I was quoted $48 a night for a junior suite and dad loved this price! But-Does anyone know of a similar price range for a nicer place? Any suggestions will be very helpful!!! Thanking you in advance!!!! They really don't need a suite but since it is $48 that is what he is considering.
We will be staying at ASSp this trip.

How will your parents be getting to the parks? Will you have the car or will they? Will they be relying on hotel transportation?

Also, if you plan to go early to the parks for the EMH, they may not be allowed in without a resort ID.

How about one of the DTD hotels? Still offsite, but a little closer to the magic.

Try Priceline for a "resort" level hotel in the Walt Disney area. There are about 5 hotels that come up and they all look pretty good. MOWC, Gaylord Palms, Wyndham Palace Resort and Spa, Hilton, Swan and Dolphin. They may be able to get it at as low as $50. The one that was least desirable for me was the Hilton, but with that one you get EMH. They may think it is too risky, though. If you go to www.biddingfortravel.com there is all kinds of info like what hotels come up, and what people are paying for them. There are 3 star hotels in the area, too, that would be even less $$$.

We are driving up in our car. They will drop us off at our resort and drive to there off-site hotel. I'm assuming it would be okay if they came back in the morning to ride with us to the parks on the bus. They will have Park Hoppers which gives them Disney transportation and we probably won't use the EMH. If we do EMH they will just drive to the park and meet us at the park that day.

I just would like them to have a decent hotel and I've never tried priceline. The most my dad would like to pay is $60 a night. The room doesn't have to be fancy or big but I at least want a nice, clean and close place to stay.

We have consistantly loved Pricleline 3 star at about 40 dollars a night...You are going during a very busy week so prices will be up. I would suggest a 3 star for 40 dollars (bid about a month before you go) and if no luck try a resort for 60 dollars. I would use hotelkingdom.com they have excellent prices in that range for hotels. Some of them is DTD hotels to. Another good place to try is valuetrips.com they have good prices.

For hotel reviews try tripadvisor.com , travelocity.com , and biddingfortravel.com .


I would never try priceline because I don't like suprises. But that just me.

Also there is other ways to get good deals without gambling.

I like Skyauction because I need more than 1 room. You can get a 2 bedroom condo for a week for $260.

If you know what you are doing the only gamble with Priceline is if you're unable to make the trip there are no refunds. You can sell your reservations to someone else. I've bid on hundreds of hotel nights all over the country and have been extremely satisfied with every one of them. You can't beat paying $30-$40 for a $100 (or higher) hotel.

My advice would be to bid Disney area only. Start at $35 and work your way up to $50 using your free bids. Free bids are explained in detail at www.biddingfortravel.com

If you are unsuccessful try again every 3 days. Book a back up hotel just in case.

I agree with the above post regarding priceline. This is the way I would go as I do this myself and think that your parents would enjoy there stay at anyone of those resorts. I have also had a great stay at Radisson's Resort. They have a great breakfast bar and beautiful pool area (mousesavers has some great rates for them to).
