Check out Tracfone. We get 1000 minutes and a year of service for $100.00, it takes less than half a minute for a text, maybe like 1/3. We have triple minutes with the phones we purchased and there is usually a code for bonus minutes.

I second PagePlus. They've been fantastic and very cheap at $12/mo. They use the Verizon network though....

I use Tmobile pay as you go. I filled my son's phone three years ago with 1000 minutes lasting 1 year for $100. Since then I have only had to put $10 per year to keep the minutes rolling. So three years of service to $120 not too bad... That is about $3.30 per year, and he still had about 500 minutes left so I should get another 2 years.

The wife is on the same plan and uses about $50 every three months with an iphone.

I have pageplus. I had verizon for 10 years and switched to pageplus last December. I didn't have to buy a new phone either. I am using my iphone that I had with verizon. It's not 4G though. They have 3G data.

They use TMobile's network, so you might even be able to use your TMobile phone.

T Mobile prepaid. Once a year I put $100 in, and I am all set for 12 months plus I get 1015 minutes. I usally am able to roll over the left over minutes when I refill.

Just signed onto ChitChatMobile.com for DD cell phone use. Needed a cheap plan that offered cool phones. They use the Sprint network and their plans start at $9.99/mo for unlimited text and 250 minutes talk. So far so good.

PTEL: really? i've been to the website several times and they do not offer less than $30 per month plans. how do you get $5?

Before I moved overseas, I used Tracfone and also recommended it to others who wanted an inexpensive plan. It was reliable, and plenty of service for what I needed.
