This was inspired by a previous stocking thread, but that looked like things for adults....

I'm stumped every year about what to put in my kids stockings... What do you put in YOUR kids stockings??? The only thing I can think of every year is socks!

Any inspiration would be appreciated!

I should say our son is almost 10 & our daughter just turned 7 TIA!

i used to get candy bars, lip gloss/ chapstick, little fancy soaps and shampoos, small beanie babies.. like the jingle beanies or teanie beanies..

My son always gets a couple tooth brushes in his stocking and perhaps a special tube of tooth paste (something cool that I wouldn't normally buy, but Santa doesn't apparently mind picking up ;) ). He also always finds those blow up punching balloons. Maybe some hot wheel cars

Go to the dollar store. There are all kinds of small, cheap toys and things to put in stockings. Don't know if you have girls, but they also have tons of hair stuff. And at Dollar Tree, you can get 20 items for 20 bucks. Can't beat it.:D

Christmas marshallow peep like treats-they have Christmas trees, gingerbread, and snowmen.
Bubble bath.

Well my son is pretty young but some of the items we have thought of so far include a "cool" toothbrush, hot wheels, stamps, stickers, maybe some new crayons, etc..

I put Toothbrush, candy, CD's, Playstation games, leapster games, little toys, basically anything that is small enough to fit in the stocking goes in there regardless of if its cheap or not. Jewlery that would get lost under the tree also goes in tehre.

crayons and small coloring books and hair barretts for dd and lip balm for both of the kids and oranges and cans of pringles small ones that is....candy canes and candy bars...toothbrush and paste...powder for dd and deodorant for both........we had fun at different ages...

we got really tired of the dollar stuff. Unless its GOOD stuff KWIM? just more little stuff to get broken by 10 am... or is that just MY kids? ;) LOL

I do think the $ store is a great place to get things for stockings I just be careful of the quality now.

Santa brings the hair stuff for the girls, the little gloves for all of them, chapsticks, glitter stuff, hot wheels, toothbrushes, decks of cards, keychains, little dolls that kind of thing.

So far for DD I have a Minnie Mouse Loofah and Minnie Mouse bracelet/necklace set I picked up in WDW. And a tube of Little People that has Santa, Mrs. Clause, and a reindeer. I will probably get her a little candy also. Last year I also did new panties. :)

Check out the 'dollar spot' at Target. We saw lots of cool stuff there last night - all for only one dollar.

Lots of good suggestions already....

My kids love little stuff so it's easy here! Chap sticks/body glitter, tiny finger nail polish, little bath stuff, new fancy comb/brush, new fancy toothbrush/toothpaste(stuff I wouldn't normally buy the rest of the year) stickers, glitter putty, card games, travel games, hair bows, PVC character figurines and tiny action figures, new cd's, little picture frames with a favorite picture from throughout the year, homemade gift certificates for a favorite activity (trip to chuck e cheese, trip to zoo, trip to favorite park etc) stamps/ink pads, fancy pens, fancy crayons. Magazine subscriptions are also a favorite. most magazines have a gift card you can put in a stocking when you've ordered a subscription that says something about you're getting a whole year of fun with blank magazine.

I always go overboard on stockings, they were always my favorite part of Christmas day and I love the tiny surprises and the looks on tiny faces when they find all that silly stuff they've asked for throughout the year and I refuse to buy (impulse items at the checkout type things or the expensive silly toothbrushes that I normally refuse to pay an extra $2 for.) They love those silly tiny magazines at the checkout that have stickers/activities in them that have disney characters but to pay $2.49 for one just kills me. At christmas I indulge that and they think it's great! I usually wind up with way too much stuff and if I do then what I put in the toe of the stocking is a paper that starts a treasure hunt to find a small box with the leftover stuff in it. They LOVE that!

oh Target dollar spot! They had some great stuff there.
I found Hello Kitty purses and pencil cases and lots of cute little things! I forgot about that!

Also Santa brings us all a Mandarin orange and little choclates. sometimes peanuts, though he knows my kids dont like relaly like those. He always brought them to our house though. he must REALLY be watching!! :)

We tend to try to stay away from a lot of candy, although we do usually put in his stocking a chocolate santa or snowman.

Mostly though he gets hot wheel cars or other toy cars, playing card games (he is getting Skip-bo this year), little sticker books, art supplies (new paint brushes, crayons, markers, stampers, etc), travel games, etc.

We also usually put two DVDs in there each year.

Younger kids.....Crayons. Markers. Small notebooks. Toothbrush and toothpaste (I can't believe anither poster does that too!) Bubble bath. A flashlight (they love getting this!). Stickers. Slinky. Bubbles. And a piece of fruit (orange most popular). Weird, little things that kids really do enjoy!

For older kids....Claire's Boutique always have tables in the back w/huge markdowns. Also if you have a Value City close by, they always have American Eagle products. What about an AE baseball hat? Or an AE scarf. Underwear or boxers. Old Navy have cheap (but cool) selections.

Have fun!

I don't know if your son is into sports cards but I went to the sports card shop Saturday and got my ds10 several good cards that weren't too expensive at all. I also got him a gift certificate for the sports card store. I'm also getting all three kids a $5 gift card for a video rental. I think the "fancy" toothbrushes and other stuff I never want to buy them is a great idea!

Not old enough to have kids yet, but go to the dollar store, it's AMAZING what you can find for a dollar nowadays.

When I was a kid, I liked receiving little figurines and lip smackers (flavoured lip balm).

Went to Walmart tonight and they had all kinds of stuff for .88!!! I got some magnetic alphabet letters to stick to the frig, a 2 pack of silly putty (not that brand, but same thing), some little shooter things that shoot out little foam circles, a pack of 8 bouncy balls... There was glow necklaces and bracelets for .48 cents each... I cant remember what all I got, but bunches of stuff!! It was on the aisle in the toy section where they had jumpropes and stuff.. I even saw a bag of army men and cowboys/indians.. You might check it out!

I've gotten books,cd's,small parts for things like my tv(this year I would love to get a decent antenna) and the like plus candy
