Hi. Im new to this so I hope this is the right thing to do.
We are planning our first trip to orlando and need some help as to getting cheaper plane tickets. People have said you can fly non direct and its cheaper but im not sure where to start. If anyone can help we would be so great full.
We are going august next year

Thanks in advance

August is an expensive time to travel. What do you define as "cheap"?

Hints for cheap flights:

  • Identify which UK airports you would be willing to travel to - the more you are flexible, the more options you have and therefore the more chance you have of getting a cheap flight. The cheapest flights *usually* go from London Heathrow but this is not always the case.
  • Identify which US airport you wish to travel to and from. This is probably going to be Orlando International which has a huge number of flights. There are other airports nearby - Tampa is about an hour away, whereas Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Jacksonville and Fort Myers are around 3 hours away. Again, the more flexible you are, the more chance you have of scoring a good deal - but for a first timer, I'd choose to fly both in and out of Orlando International (MCO).
  • Identify when you are willing to travel. Again, if you can be flexible with your departure dates and length of stay, this opens the field up to cheaper flights enormously. Broadly speaking, it's cheapest to fly midweek. You can often save a significant sum of money by either reducing your stay or extending your stay by a few days, so if you are able to keep an open mind about the duration of your trip, you can look out for a good deal (e.g. "I want to go for around 14 nights, but would be willing to go for anything between 12 and 16 nights" - would get you many more options).
  • Choose whether you are willing to connect (get off one flight and onto another). This can reduce the cost of your flight by anything up to 70%. Try to connect in a US airport, Dublin or a major Canadian airport as this allows you to clear US immigration at your first stop, saving you time later on in your travels. Flying indirect (with a stop) means you have much more choice of airlines and flights, and therefore more chance of scoring a better deal.

Generally people here are quite helpful, so if you post dates, people will keep an eye open for a good deal. Keep in mind that you cannot book a flight until (usually) 330 days after your return date, so you cannot even find prices for a few weeks yet. Keep in mind that airlines will take full payment up front, and the cheapest tickets are non-refundable.

We have our villa booked for aug 17th there are 3 adults and 3 kids in our party. We wouldnt mind changing onto a connecting flight I just havent a clue where to start. Any help would be amazing

How long are you staying? Where are you flying from? How old are the children (12 is an adult on most airlines)?

You won't be able to begin looking for flights until around 11 months from your return date, as this is when flights go on sale.

Try searching on Kayak.com when the flights are released (they are only released 11 months out) so I dont think your flights will show for another couple of weeks yet.

It was my saviour when stalking flights for both NYC, Orlando and Vegas.

yep use an agregator site like expedia etc. - or visit a travel agent -
They may have earlier access to flights - but unlikely

ie Virgin Holidays have access before they go on general sale, but thats a bit of a special case.

:cool1:

Skyscanner is a good place to start too :)

And search for all airports in your region rather than just the closest :)
