Not sure what dates are available but just checked 4th-18th Heathrow to Tampa £319pp
1st One I saw was 1hr 30 mins stop going, 3hr:06 mins coming home.
Its with Opodo. Direct with AirFrance they are £600 each.
found on Kayak.co.uk
Good luck.

Just checked from manch same dates as above, £457 which is not too bad for August from Man.

They will be Delta flights from Manchester(same as we are doing on the 6th-31st)
Didn't check from London, they will probably be same.

Found another
18th August for 2 weeks Gatwick to Orlando £294pp

Hi Wayne, I'm not going this year but I'm curious (and confused) about the stop-overs.

If the flight details list another airport (eg Detroit) but also say 'no stops' is that because you don't go through immigration?

If the departure time is 10 am what would you consider to be a reasonable arrival time (in Orlando) on an indirect flight?

Are there any airports/stop overs you would prefer to avoid?

Sorry for all the questions but I am studying flight times/offers to get my head around it in plenty of time.:rotfl:

What I think you are reffering to is a flight like USairways, it might be via Philly but say no stops, If thats what you mean I believe its a glitch in the system, because they are booked as one flight with the same flight number right thru from UK to Orlando the system thinks it has no stops but it has.
Hope you followed that, is that what you mean?

Been thru most major hubs, not had a single problem thankfully. One delay that stands out waiting for the crew to arrive in Washington from New York to take over our plane to Orlando, just added a few hours on, nothing to worry about.

All depends which hub you are stopping at its quicker to use the ones on the East coast like NYC or Philly, if you go inland like we are in August to Atlanta or Chicago that adds on more time but can bring price down even further.
Leaving around 10:30am I would expect to get into Orlando around 7pm.
The one we are taking in August I have gone for a longer stop(about 4 hours) and flying into Tampa arriving around 8:30pm but will eat in Atlanta airport so drive upto Disney and straight to bed that 1st night.

Thanks Wayne - that makes sense now.:thumbsup2 Have you ever had a direct flight at these low prices?

Yes and no:rotfl2: 2007 Easter paid £290 with Virgin but had to use 2,000 miles pp. For August no, we got a free flight out last August using miles then came home indrect, that cost £336pp + 20,000 miles each
Out of season there are great prices for Virgin Direct, seen as low as £295 this year but school hols are crazy, around £700 for August.

I don't suppose anything is coming up for 27th July-27th Aug from Gatwick, 2 adults and 2 children?

I have paid a huge amount of money for direct flights with Virgin. At these sorts of prices it would be better for us to cancel and rebook. We'd still save a packet!

Hi Leanne, can't see exactly what you want, best deal I saw was Heathrow~Tampa 28th July~27th Aug Total price: £ 1,704.00 GBP

I think they will be a bit like finding a needle in a haystack but hopefully someones dates will be available.

You are an absolute star for doing this!! thank you so much for sniffing all these out, as you know i am watching august flights like a hawk right now. seems there are some deals to be had. :goodvibes

wayne have you thought about becoming a travel agent? maybe like the travel counsellors (Cinders Mum/Val on another forum) you would be very very good at it.

Something I would love to do. I have wondered if I could work it alongside my business now but my problem is with holidays and busy weeks in the shop(Xmas, Valentines, Mothers day & Easter) there are over 10 weeks a year I can't spare any time for it.
Maybe something for the future. DS takes his GCSE's next year maybe he will go into something in the travel industry and I can assist, who knows?

Thats a great price Wayne. Really wish we had been brave and waited and gone indirect. I am pleased we are going direct but could really have done with saving some money, it was very expensive.
We are fixed into our dates due to work, car hire booked and we are at the RPR at the start of our hols.

I think the best thing for me to do is just not look at these threads!!:rolleyes1

But next time we are most definately waiting! Thanks for checking.:goodvibes

Wow, I can't believe the flight prices you people are finding. We are traveling July 21st from the UK to San Diego (or lax), then from los angeles to Orlando on the 2nd of August and than back home to the UK from Orlando on August 10th. I can't find any flights under £1400 for both me and the hubby anywhere but I'll keep trying in case I finally uncover one of these cheap flights.

There are some great prices there!

With indirect flights, I'm assuming if you've gone through immigration you can leave the stop-over airport?

Say you have a stop over in New York for 5 hours. I've always wanted to go there. Would I be able to have an hour or so having a mooch around NY or do you have to stay at the airport?

I would not risk going into New York with only 5 hours from touch down to take off, traffic is crazy in NYC, it can take forever to get there and back by road. When we went it took almost 2 hours from Hotel in Times Sq to airport with a taxi driver that hardly knew a word of English.

Its always a little more difficult when you are wanting multi stop trips, Kayak.co.uk is not bad for them. Have you been looking from last Sept? would have thought a deal better than £700pp would have come up before now.
We did Man~Vagas~LAX~Man 18 months ago, managed to get it down to £450pp but that was Oct. August will not be easy.
Good luck.

Yeah, I have been keeping on eye on flights since we returned from our trip last August and there hasn't been much movement. I'll give kayak a look.

Changes in New York tend to be in Newark which isn't actually IN New York city (it's not even in New York state technically, but New Jersey instead!) On the subject of New York.. Found £325 per person through majortravel (thanks for the link Wayne :goodvibes) and i'm soo tempted too book our flights for October now, though I told myself i'd hold out til the prices get to £300pp or less which i'm 99% sure will happen as they always drop nearer the time for September/October.
