Cheap, clean, safe rooms

I saw on these boards somewhere that there is a very nice Motel 6 that is clean and has a pool. The rate per night is 30-39??. Does anyone know of this hotel. We will be coming in for a trip to Vero on a Saturday night, spending only one night at WDW. We have an Illuminations cruise Saturday night and a Gospel Breakfast at the HOB on Sunday at 10:30 AM then we are off to DVC land, Vero Beach for 6 nights. So you see deluxe accomodations are not needed. We will only sleep in the room and need no extras like a themed resort etc.

There are at least two Motel 6s on Irlo Bronson Pkwy (Hwy 192). One is North of 4 and one is South of 4.

We stayed at the South one on our second through fourth trips, and although the walls were a bit thin (noisy)- it was very clean!

Instead of paying almost $40 for a Motel 6 you can bid around $30ish, plus the $5.95 fee of Priceline & get a much better hotel for the same price. You just will not know the location or name till your bid is accepted. If you were to bid a 3 star (or even a 2 1/2 star for that matter) hotel in the Disney Area Zone.....you cannot go wrong if you are comparing it to a Motel 6....that is just a thought for you .....

I have only used Priceline for renting cars and I am very afraid they might stick me in a dive. Have you used them for 3* motels for this price? I am very interested in your responses.

My In- Laws just stayed at Howard Johnson Maingate East for 1 night in February before checking in at OKW and they said it was clean and very good for one night check DREAMS UNLIMITED

As for your concerns regarding using priceline for hotels, you can go to BiddingforTravel.com . It lists hotels that typical come in different areas and also shows what winning bids have been. I've never been disappointed with any of the 3* hotels I've bid on.

We have had great luck with Priceline. We have used it for hotel rooms and rental cars. Please consider it as you wil get alot more for your money.

We got the Hyatt, a 3* for $35 + priceline fees. Hyatt is considered to be the worst of the 3* at Disney, but I've seen it and it's about 10 steps up from the Motel 6. At you price range, I think biddingfortravel is your best bet.

I got the Lake Buena Vista Comfort Inn from Expedia.com for only $36.75/night and it's listed as a 3 star hotel. It's one mile from the entrance! Kids eat free there also! Not a bad deal! Good luck!

Hi went thru priceline and got Wyndham on i drive 7 nites @40 a nite in the peak spring break season, thats 7x40=280 +5.95 priceline fee+28.21 tax=314.16Total
Have stayed their before and really like the place!Good luck!

Hi, I took your advice and when to biddingfortravel.com. I got the Hyatt Orlando for $35 plus fees and taxes for two rooms $90.30. We were going to stay in the Summerhill Suites - 2 brdm w breakfast $129.00 plus resort fees of 13.00 a day. We don't need breakfast so we saved a few dollars on this hotel by booking at bidding etc. Thanks everyone for your imput.

I am concerned about the Hyatt being the worst of the 3* hotels at Disney as Punkin described it. What's wrong with it? I hope it is not noisy and that the rooms are indeed clean and safe.

It's not that it's not clean, and safe. It's more that it's not a typical Hyatt. Think two story stucco buildings with no elevators. There are four "pods," each colored differently -- e.g. orange for Orange Blossom, which surround a pool (vinyl liner), small play apparatus, and hot tub. The room I stayed in had the usual amenities--coffee, safe, iron, ironing board, but the bath is small. The room I was in was very clean. The tub is more like a shower, not a full bath.

The pool was open late and the hot tub was hot! Lovely for me.

There is a good buffet, and I think reasonably priced at lunch--don't know the breakfast price. You may not need that though.

The hotel has a security gate, and I feel safe there when attending a conference in October. I just choose to stay on property if not using Priceline.

DH and I may end up there in August if Courtyard doesn't have their terrific rates. I will bid on Priceline, but hope for the Sheraton Safari!

Thanks for the reply about the Orlando Hyatt. No it sure doesn't sound like a Hyatt. I am not sure what it sounds like. I always stay at a Hampton Inn when we travel down 95 and visit our kids in Springfield, MA. We are DVC'rs for 11 years now, since the beginning, so we always stay on property. This is a Saturday, one night thing, because my sister is flying in at 4PM from Sacramento, CA and it is silly to waste double points for such a late arrival. On Saturday night we are going on an Illuminations Cruise and then to a Gospel Brunch Sunday morning at the House of Blues. I am very excited since I have never done either. On Sunday after brunch, we will drive up to Vero for 6 nights in a 2 bdrm villa. Can't beat DVC for first class accomodations.

I think the only Disney Hotel that sounds like the Hyatt is All Stars. The security sounds better at the Hyatt though.

I'm sure you will enjoy the Illuminations Cruise. We are hoping to do that again when we join up with my CA brother's family for a WDW Christmas this year.

For your one night, the rate is great. And it's a very easy drive onto Disney property.
