I will have sixteen high school students in the Orlando area for three nights. We are trying to make this as affordable as possible because some of the kids can' afford alot. Our only requirements is that it be clean and safe. We don't have to have any thrills or perks. Would love a room for less than $45 per night. We can use AAA, government rates. We will be sleeping four in a room or two per bed to help with the cost. We will have rental vans so being close to anything is not important as long as the community is safe.

Does anyone have suggestions?

Our family loves the Quality Inn Maingate West. It is very close to Magic Kingdom, around 2-3 miles I think. We have stayed there 5 times and always find our room clean and safe. They also have free continental breakfast. I just booked our room on onetravel.com for $28.00 a night. With onetravel.com you must prepay. You can also book through Choice Hotels, however, it is more than $28.00. Good luck! :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsgirl:

Have you thought about finding a hotel you like first and then contacting them for a group rate?

I have very limited offsite experience in that area. I prefer WDW resorts. We have stayed at Quality Inn Suites Maingate West with the suites; this is not in their price range. I have also stayed at Seraton Safari, too pricey again. These are the only two places that I have stayed at offsite. We are leaning towards an Econolodge, I think it is $44 before taxes. But it is down Iro Bronson Hwy in the middle of the construction. I would prefer to get them away from the construction if possible, but it may be their only choice.

I don't know if you'd consider staying in the International Drive area. We've spent a couple of nights at the Microtel Inn on Canada Drive, which is a block off I-Drive. We paid $40.00 a night through Hotel Kingdom. It is a very basic hotel but clean and the beds were good (a big thing for us as my husband has a bad back.) The beds are queen size too, which is a plus instead of full size. They have a small pool and they offer continental breakfast in the morning. When we were there, a high school band was staying there also so I know they have experience with groups.

Good luck with your choice.

What dates? :)

Funny, kind of. On the choice hotels website for the Quality Inn mentioned, the gov't rate is $68, while the standard rate is $55. AAA is ~$50. Gov't employees pay extra.

This is the one on 192 near Sherberth road? If so, it's a very convenient area. :)

And onetravel.com is much cheaper!!

Country Inn and Suites on 535 was cheap when we went. You also got a free breakfast. The pool is quite small though, but you can use the one next door at the sheraton safari

I did a manual check on the Econo Lodge at International Drive and came with the price of $45.94 per night for 4 persons. This is 2 Double Beds. However, you may add an extra bed for $10.00 more, to $55.94. Just check the link and see if that would help!

I have also stayed at the Quality Inn Maingate West. Very convenient, free continental breakfast, and clean rooms.
Another one is the Best Western Lakeside (formerly La Quinta Lakeside). It is next to the Quality Inn (actually a lake between). It is also a good economical place.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I'm checking them out. If you have others, I would love to hear them too.

If you are concerned about the roadworks on the 192, considerig the position of the Quality Inn Maingate west, if it is near to Sherberth Road this is a great shortcut to WDW avoiding most of the 192.

We aren't flexible on the dates. We have to work around our spring break. The school is not too flexible either since this is just prior to our statewide testing. They get real nervous when we pull the kids out before testing.

The dates the kids will be in Orland will be April 4-7. The rest of the time they will be in Key West and West Palm Beach.

on hotelkingdom - Quality Inn West - $43.66
on onetravel.com - Golden Link $39

I haven't stayed in either - if onetravel is a good site (I know hotelkindgom is) - then I would go with it.

it is a small place - but I think it is managed by the owners.

someone stayed there once and say it was fine - of course this was a couple of years ago.

it is at the intersection where 535 meets us 192. So you could easily use 535 to get to the Disney area
