Further to another thread, it is important that you do not for the sake of a few pounds take risks with car hire, it is a major bug bear of mine. Please check to see if the company you rent off has any protection if they go bust (please don't say "I used so and so with no problems" as they are only as good as their last transaction) I have done research and a lot of these places just exist to make a buck close up and move on to another start up.
I use www.floridahomesandtravel.com for the personal service that I recieve (cannot be bettered) and they are bonded so your money and your car hire are safe.
Others use Airline Network and they are also bonded.
DO NOT compromise it really is not worth it trust me it is a nightmare to be at the airport with a duff voucher and no car after 12 - 15 hours travelling.
