Hi All!

does anyone have their favorite cheap beauty regime or product that works or is a great buy? I have several, they are as follows:

GREAT LASH MASCARA - Maybelline $4.99

REVLON LIPSTICKS - $7.00

MAC EYESHADOWS - $13.00 Lasts over a year with everyday use

MAC EYELINERS - AWESOME! Goes on very smooth $13.00

MAC LIPGLASS - AWESOME - $13.00

OPI Nail Polish - $6.99

Try this for a CHEAP undereye treatment! If you have dark circles or puffiness under your eyes slice (1/8th of an inch) piece of raw potatoe. Place each slice on top of your eyes (while closed). Take off after about 1 minute. After residue drys apply makeup! This is the best eye treatment I have ever tried. You really can't beat it!:thumbsup2

Does anyone else have their recommendations on beauty products!?

Thanks All!

So glad to see this post! I've been looking for a new eyeshadow!

Please tell me more about MAC eyeshadow. I read it stays on forever, especially if a light line is used under the eye (instead of liner). Do you find that to be true, too? Liners are too harsh for undereye (IMO) but so many shadows smear or smudge.

Also regarding the potato, wondering how it works *under* the eye (where the dark circles are) if its placed *on* the eyeliid when closed? :confused3

But I guess its worth a try! My allergies make me look much more tired than I am! :scared1:

Hi!
MAC eyeshadows has very "INTENSE" color meaning the color is very true when you buy say a turquiouse" color and you apply it to your lid you will get that EXACT color! I love them! Very well worth the price! Does not even compare to drug store types of eye shadows.

I first put a little bit of foundation on then I use a pressed powder on MY LIDS! This way the eye shadow will NOT crease! This is a must, especially during the hot summer months.

As far as the raw potatoe just place the whole slice on top of you eye (of course when your lids are closed! LOL) There is something in the enzyme of the potatoe that (maybe the starch???) the really makes your eyes seem less puffy.

Great gental daily exfoliator Cetaphil ($5), 1 or 2 pumps mixed with 1 tsp baking soda.

I love it! I was just thinking of posting a similar thread!
One of the biggest budget beauty secrets for me is to wash my hair less often. I cut down from daily washing to once every 2-3 days, and my hair looks so much shinier. and now my shampoo lasts longer!
Another budget product I have grown to love: Citre shine hair serum. It costs around 4 bucks. I have coarse, frizzy hair and have tried soooooo many products. Just a little of this stuff on wet hair worked wonders for me. Usually it is a frizz ball when I let it dry naturally. After using this, my hair was soft and shiny with a natural wave.
Anyone else have budget tips for frizzy hair?
As for makeup, I love the Body shop lip and cheek stain. I don't like heavy makeup and a little dab of this on my cheeks and lips gives me a fresh look without feeling made up. This wasn't expensive either....maybe 10-15 bucks? Well worth it.
I am loving this thread. Thanks OP!

Ditto on the Cetaphil for cleanser! I use witch hazel for toner.

If my hair is frizzing, I've been known to use some lotion on my hands, then smooth my hands over my hair so it calms down. Make sure the lotion is well absorbed by your hands unless you want to go from frizzy to greaseball.

I really like ULTA products. I haven't tried many of them but those that I have tried are great. I usually get them when they are buy 1, get 1 or they send out 20% off a single item frequently.

I really like their nail polish, it seems to be really good quality like OPI.

Wet n Wild's liquid eyeliner is surprisingly really good, and it's less than $3. I love Rimmel's Vinyl Lip in Snog is an awesome color and very inexpensive as well. If anyone is ever interested in reading reviews on practically every beauty product available, head to makeupalley.com

I also LOVE Max Factor's STICK makeup...$6.99! You just apply it where needed and voila! It's better than any department store foundation, in my opinion.

A GREAT foot and hand softner is VASELINE! No, don't put it on during the day but put it on BEFORE BED and then put socks on or cotton gloves. The next morning your hands and feet will be the softest ever!!

The BEST HANDCREAM is AHAVA! I have never, EVER tried anything to even remotely come close. You can buy this on their website or your local Nordstrom. $16.00.

Sounds nasty but frizzy/curly headed ppl really should not shampoo very often at all with shampoo a good conditioner used daily as shampoo works GREAT tho. Wet hair apply the conitioner comb thru with fingers or shower/conditioner comb rinse and I usually set to go an NOBODY as hair any curlier or frizzier than mine I don't think.

Aussie moist conditioner works great BTW an on the rare times I do shampoo I use Aussie moist shampoo as well. Most shampoos leaves hair feeling very dry even before it's dried but the Aussie MOIST doesn't.

Hi Ladies!

Has anyone ever used NEXUS hair products! Therape shampoo and Humectress condition are AWESOME! They can be found at your local Walmart!

My absolute favorite cheap beauty product is Wet n Wild lipliner in color #666, Brandywine. Terrible number, but it only costs $1, it's huge, and I use it as a lipstick. It is a dark pinkish brown nude, with a hint of shimmer. I wear it with lip balm over it.

I must tell you that MAC makes my eyes water and sting but that is just me.
Once I was in Maggianos and the MAC people must have had their spring meeting downstairs in the function room. They had the entire line there and when I went by they were dumping it(the bus boys that is)!Needless to say I filled my pockets. It was like a dream come true. Brushes, blushes, shadows! Really it was like a dream come true. I ran out of space in my pocketbook and we were going to the theatre after. Honestly...if I had space in my bra i would have filled that too!

As to OPI go to www.transderm.com it is only 435 per bottle they also have some nice combo sets like you see in the store for about half price. Even with shipping (no tax) it comes to about 525 a bottle with no tax. IF you get some of the sets it is even cheaper. I usually pay around 7.98 for Nail Envy and it is over 15 in the stores. Even with shipping it is only around 8.98.

Ok nobody flame me b/c I am biased here since I sell it, but I do think Mary Kay is the best. It is department store quality but not near as expensive. Eye shadows hold up and are half the cost of MAC. Timewise products are great, they combine steps, are age fighting, and last a long time. The foundation is awesome especially the new mineral powder. Eye and check colors are now available in mineral formulas for even longer wear!

Plus I have seen results, a team leader in a neighboring department at work, retired a couple years ago she was 70!!! but her skin did not look a day older than 45!!!! I totally could not believe her age. She had been a great customer of mine for several years, I never thought she was that old. Also, I have a customer in her late 40's who has been using MK since she was 16. She has dealt with the stress of 4 daughters and 3 husbands. Her skin is beautiful, if you wouldn't know the age of her oldest daughter you would swear she was in her early 30's!

I am getting off of my soap box now. Overall I think you should use what works best for you. For me and my customers, its Mary Kay!

Not to burst your bubble but most of pepople's skin condition comes from good genes and not going in the sun. My mom is 80 and her skin looks like she is in her 40's! She has never ever used anything on her skin except Noxema when she was younger and we all know that that is a killer for skin! It contains lye!!

I DEFINATELT AGREE!!! Topical solutions are temporary....at best. They do not penetrate to the deep layers of the skin. BUT, if you are looking for a little temporary help, thank goodness there is some!

Hi!

I used to sell Mary Kay, AVON, and was an Estee Lauder rep. The only thing that I STILL use from Mary Kay is their BASIC skin care line. I actually DO LOVE IT! I sell AVON currently but still use the MK. As far as Mary Kay's other products such as eyeshadow they do NOT even compare to MAC. MAC's eyeshadow are bar none! They do not crack, they go on smooth and the key thing here is that they have that "INTENSE" colore. There is no need to keep building on the colour to get it deeper. You can if you want, though, but the colors are great. Also, I find Mary Kay products to be very expensive. You have to buy their eyeshadow(s) plus the compact. But that is only my opinion.
