BOMA DINNER

from, Day 1, September 5th

Reservation Time: 5:05 PM

My First Plate (aww, isn't that cute... doesn't that sound like a pre-school product?)
IMG_2655.jpg

IMG_2656.jpg

Everything here was delicious. While they did not have my favorite soup (Carrot Ginger), they did have a super decent butternut squash that tasted like Christmas and Thanksgiving. It's a familiar and supremely comforting feeling. Then there are some hummus--some of the best I have ever had. Also a regular salad--meh, salad--and corn with plaintain salad which was sweet and excellent.

Dustin's First Plate (tee-hee!)
IMG_2658.jpg

Dustin: The prime rib was very tender (although kinda fatty) and tasted like meat. The fu-fu smooth and tasty, and the potatoes spicy and nice.
Sarah's edit: It took him at least 15 minutes to even get this plate. There was a line for the meats that rolled around half of the restaurant. I ended up giving him evil stink-eye stares that showed my impatience and hopefully, in some way or another, cosmically speeded up the long line. Also, I noticed that this time there wasn't anyone carving the meats. There was just a plate of prime rib and pork out that you had to pick out for yourself. Cost cutting?

My Second Plate
IMG_2662.jpg

Some wonderfully creamy macaroni and cheese, zesty soft potatoes, okay mealie bread (tasted like cornbread), delicious pap and sheeba, dry and overcooked falafel, and okay cous cous with vegetables (I can make better, but thats just me).

Dustin's Second Plate
IMG_2659.jpg

Dustin liked the chicken nuggets the best out of this plate. He said they were very fresh and hot. I think he was disappointed that there wasn't any nut crusted salmon but instead a mustard salmon. Keep in mind, the only condiment that is okay in Dustin's "book" is ketchup--never mustard in any color or form.

My Third (!!:scared: ) Plate
IMG_2663.jpg

Oh come on, its only a little bit! When at a Boma buffet, one must try... try and graze and sample the lovely offerings! So here is "Boma's mustard salmon" which was okay, a little dry and overcooked, weird taste that I didn't like, and not at ALL like their nut-crusted salmon which Dustin and I so fawn over. Some more pap and sheeba, some curried pasta salad which was insanely tasty, and cous cous for Dustin to sample.

My Desserts
IMG_2667.jpg

Here we have a sinfully good, extremely rich and creamy, and the best dessert of the trip (for me, at least): pineapple upside down cheescake. You must try this at Boma. Also, there is hard and tasteless plaintain, dense flourless chocolate cake, bland blueberry fruit tartlett, and creamy sweet cheese flan.

Dustin's Desserts
IMG_2669.jpg

In Dustin's own words: The desserts were excellent. I was full, but still wanted--no wait, I had to--have some more to eat. The zebra domes, even the one upside down, were the best.
Sarah's Edit: I think he liked the mousse too, but he is a clamshell when it comes to describing what he ate. :)

Boma was slightly disappointing this time around. Last few times we were fortunate on going on a Saturday--which apparantly is good for us, because that is when they offer carrot ginger soup, more interesting salads, carved pork, and nut-crusted salmon. Basically, it wasn't that the food was bad, which it certainly was not, but that all of our favorites were not there and instead replaced with something that wasn't to our exact tastes. Again, not their faults, just ours in planning. By the way, we went on a Friday. Also, the service was excellent--our drinks (diet cokes) were never low, and the table was always cleared. Very professional and sincere service.

We have a 4:45 ressie at Boma, thought I would do an early one and avoid crowds....this is on a Saturday...do you think another day will be less busy? What about another time?

Hey Nicki! 4:45 should be fine. Later on during the week we took the free culinary tour at Jiko and Boma (yes, you get some free food and it is held almost daily--make sure you find out on check in when and where the tour starts) and our tour ended in Boma as they were opening. It eventually ended around 4:45 and it was still fairly empty inside.

Also keep in mind that lines in Boma are trends. It usually starts at the top of the hour and lasts until 20 minutes past. We noticed that as we left that it started getting crowded around 6 and thinned out as we left around 6:20.

But anyway, lucky you--you're going on a Saturday! My favorite day.. yumm.

Love your review and pics can't wait for the rest. Thank you for listing the prices. I love seeing the deal factor.
You Rock!!:cutie:

Thanks! I know that the deal factor was big in my planning, too.

More please! :)

Coming up later tonight!

Thanks for sharing.

Great Pics and Reviews.

Yer welcome! Thank you for reading!

Wonderful! I wish I could talk my dh into trying Boma but i know he won't have it. :headache:

Just ask him nicely, then firmly, then very firmly to try it. Maybe throw in a pouty lip. Boma is worth it, for us (on Saturdays, at least).

You write beautifully! Can't wait to read more!popcorn::

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

MAIN STREET BAKERY

from, Day 2, September 6th

Time on Receipt: 9:43 AM

Cast Member: Paola

Situation: So after thoroughly scavenging the Magic Kingdom for its delicious sugary candy (free! only after paying xxx amount!!) and topping off our bags, we were definitely exhausted. Therefore, this was a much needed sleep in day (if you can call waking up at 8 sleeping in......) But hey, your in Disney World. No going about your sleeping habits willy nilly, kay? This is all reasoning to why our breakfast was stamped well after rope drop. :upsidedow

Cinnamon Roll
IMG_2723.jpg

Dustin: So big that I had to conquer it. Great, really sweet with the honey drizzle and regular icing. Just wish it were warmer, I was looking for a microwave or something.
Sarah's Edit: Holy cow! What a monster! The size of your head--and that is what makes it so good. Yet soo soo bad.. Ooh yah.

French Toast Roll
IMG_2724.jpg

Oh my. The best french toast I have ever had. And yet--it wasn't really french toast. It almost verged on extremely dense bread pudding. It also had crispy caralmelized creme brulee-like endings.

Summary:

We paid this one OOP.
Cinnamon Roll: 2.59
French Toast Loaf: 3.99
Milk: 1.99
Total w/ tax: 9.13

The line was long, but it moved fairly quickly. We were accidentally rung up as a CS credit, so Dustin had to (yes him... he's the man, afterall!) go back to the cast member and get it straightened out. Easy as pie, the credit was reversed, and it was charged to our room. Took less than 3 minutes. Plus, we learned to let the CMs know ahead of time how we wished to pay for our bountiful food. Yeah right.

ALOHA ISLE

from, Day 2, September 6th

Time on Receipt: 11:09 AM (because Dole Whips are still part of the breakfast for champions)

Cast Member: Frantz (yummy name--does this make me weird for thinking his name called to my taste buds?)

Situation: We made our way around the Magic Kingdom and landed upon Aloha Isle. It is tradition, darn it, and we shall never go against tride and true favorites, shall we?

PINEAPPLE DOLE WHIP FLOAT

As refreshing as chewing crushed ice when you were a kid. It truly is a Magic Kingdom favorite.

VANILLA/CHOCOLATE SWIRL

Because Dustin can be "boring" like that. Good.

Vanilla Chocolate Cup: 2.89

I have never seen such a short line. This just made my giddy exemplified tenfold. Well, perhaps I did arrive a tad early, no? Addicts need their fixes....

Coming up next--Tony's Town Square lunch and 'Ohana dinner.

excellent reviews and photos......the salmon at Crystal Palace was out of site...delicous....and the prime rib was delicious too.....we got home last saturday and still love the sounds of all the food

Some day we must eat at the Main Street Bakery ... who can say no to a cinammon roll the size of a man's head??? :lmao:

Awesome reviews, can't wait to read more!

That French Toast looks YUMMY!

I'm glad I read your first couple of posts, I've read your posts, but never realized you go to my Alma Mater (OT, when exactly did we get a football team? And where did they put a football field? I didn't graduate THAT long ago 1996- oh god, it is that long ago...I think I need a drink:rolleyes1 ). Anyway, I'm really looking forward to the rest of your report- time to start planning the next trip, ya know!

Thanks for the great reviews.

I'm considering taking my daughter to Disney in January and she is a lactose-intolerant vegetarian....although she considers herself vegan since last summer. I'm a little worried about what she'll be able to eat this round (seems it's hard to avoid cheese!) so I'm always interested in reviews with regard to special dietary needs.

I did google pescetarianism and my niece is a pescetarian although I didn't know there was a name for it. ;)

Now I'm sweating my Tuesday Boma ADR and thinking maybe Saturday would be better?

Any salmon dish that isn't overcooked is good to me. Heck, I even microwave my salmon! Yet oddly, not overcooked.... :lmao:

Especially if it sticks to the roof of your mouth! It was sticky too!

Love your pics! I so need to try a Dole Whip Float!!!

Thank you for reading! The Dole whip float is a classic. If you don't try it next time, just keep in mind it will always be there! :thumbsup2 (i hope...)

Hahhaa. There is no football stadium! Its not even being built right now, just in the planning stages. Apparantly it will be on the north end of the Boca campus. Anyway... thank you for reading!
Excellent:thumbsup2

Glad that I can be of some help. My eating habits at WDW definitely show that one can eat well as a pescetarian  .
Well, they also have the same items on Wednesday, as I spoke to the chef while we did the free culinary tour and he said that Saturday's and Wednesdays are the nights for our favorites.
But, if you haven't been to Boma before, I wouldn't worry too much about finding things that you like. You might find favorites on your Tuesday dinner that we didn't!

:thumbsup2 Excellent reviews, great pictures, and I am enjoying the photo to word ratio! :cloud9: I am totally visual.
