I am just wondering what the cheapest airfare anyone has gotten? I have booked but not paid for AA 773.73 for the 4 of us out of detroit but I am hoping southwest comes out with somthing better. I know i have a good price just wondering if I should hold out for southwest???? :confused3. We will be flying out of DTW on Dec 15 and returning Dec 22

If you can provide where you are flying from and your dates, it would be most helpful! :)

We are flying out of Chicago Ohare in Aug. Just booked $37 one-way on Uniteds TED :cool1:
I have never gotten this cheap fare - ever!!!!!!!!

Southwest does not usually have very good offers for Detroit, as DTW is a hub for both Northwest and Spirit - these 2 carriers offer the best deals from DTW. We usually get around $160 r/t; the cheapest we have gotten was $134 last December on NWA and these are always non-stop flights, which I believe AA and Southwest usually aren't. I am watching airfare for our Sept. trip and right now NWA is at $170, I'm waiting to see if it's going to start fluctuating yet and hopefully drop a little more :teeth:

I wouldn't hold out for Southwest, as I have never seen them beat NWA or Spirit on the DTW-MCO route. You can also check out AirTran, which has a daily non-stop flight to MCO out of Bishop Airport in Flint - they also have good deals.

thanks for all the tips. I have been checking airtran right now i can get 99 to fly down and 160 to get home. NWA is around 280 which i feel is alittle high. keeping my fingers crossed. thanks again

If TED is still flying - that is a great price. The cheapest I have every had out of ORD is $105 RT.

Rickdeni - I assume you are talking about the strikes that they were threating?????????
I feel what ever happens, happens! This was the last minute trip and if things get cancelled, we'll be upset, but this will be our 3rd time since Nov. so it won't be as heart-breaking :sad1:
Also I noticed that you are just 10 minutes north of us. My sister lives in Oak Forest and we are just south of that. :flower:

Hello Neighbor! We always fly Spirit to Orlando! This past Easter, we paid $225 per ticket; we also went for a short trip when school was out and paid $190; and our upcoming trip for New Years we paid $305! Most of their planes are new and everything always turns out great! (Totally opposite Northwest.) The best part is they have three non-stops to Orlando every day.

We got $39 fare from Nashville to Orlando, 4 roundtrip tickets were $381.60! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

SWA does not offer any non-stops to MCO out of DTW. You will have to make a connection at BNA, STL, MDW, or sometimes 2 of those.

I usually can get a decent price on SWA around the holidays compared to NWA. Spirit is OK, but they fly the MD-80s. 2 weeks ago, I flew one of the older ones and my wheeled carryon that normally fits in a 737+ overhead didn't fit in the overhead on Spirit and I had to gate check it.

If the price is coming out the same, I'd go with NWA because most of the time you can snag a non-stop. BUT, don't think that the flight you pick is written in stone. NWA has a habit of changing flight times a lot!!

I am flying NWA tomorrow to Vegas, SWA from Vegas to CA and NWA home. later in the summer I am booked on a couple of NWA flights to PVD and again to MCO. With all the talk of the mechanics strike, I hope I can get to my destinations and home again!
