Hi, all! I am looking in to booking flights for our March 20 cruise. For direct flights out of Nashville, Delta and SW are our only choices. Delta is an attractive option, due to the flight times and the fact that we can check out luggage in at the port on our departure day. Then we can go to Downtown Disney for the day!

However, our flights would be operated by Delta codeshare partner Chautauqua Airlines. It would be a smaller type plane (40-50 passengers), but that would be OK. The question is, I know nothing about this airline! I need advice and opinions, please! I am little wary of booking just because it would not be a regular Delta flight.

Thanks.

You spelled it right, which is a lot more than most people know about it.

All I know is that they fly Embraer aircraft out of Columbus (CMH-MCO), and I don't care for those. If you're OK on Embraer, I don't know why Chautauqua would be any worse (or any better) than any other small airline. If your flight is on a CRJ, Canadian Regional Jet, I'd say definitely go for it. Those are much nicer.

Well, it is an ERJ. Tell me more, please! I should clarify by saying I have not flown on a smaller plane before, but I am OK with trying it!

I've used Chautagua out of Huntsville, AL before. Great flight, great service.

I don't care what type of plane it is, as long as I can avoid Atlanta!!!!

Finally, a direct flight to Orlando without driving to B'ham or Nashville :-)

Thanks, Carol. I guess my main concerns were comfort, SAFETY, and service. Glad to know you had a good experience!

I have flown that Nashville flight a BUNCH! Personally I like the Delta Connection Jet. It is a jet, just a little smaller. The ride is smooth and loading and unloading do not take a lifetime. As for service, it is the same people in Nashville as the Delta planes. My only negative is the boarding area in Orlando is always packed!!!

The on time expeirience seems very good and the jet has a very good saftey record. All in all, I recommend it.

Yup, Orlando can be a madhouse -- mad"mouse," depending on how you look at it. :jester: Any other opinions?

JDY, thank you! You made me feel better. I don't know what I was expecting, but that is far more sophisticated than I thought it would be. *whew*

They are small but comfy. I fly alone alot and like the one seat side so that i have no one on either side. The good thing about the small planes is they are quick to unload and load people and luggage. Your luggage will be out quick because there is less of it. You won't be allowed to carry on a big bag because the overhead bins are very teeny.

Love the planes, love the smooth ride, love the quick deplaning, not so crazy about the smaller carry-on required.

Claudia or prncess674, do either of you know the size limit on the carry-on? I'm flying on a Chautauqua flight in a couple weeks. Thanks!

It's very small! I have a standard rolling carryon. I have to check it at the gate and pick it up when I get off the aircraft. At least I don't have to go to baggage claim. :sunny:

I love gate check on commuter jets!! It is so easy. You hand the guys your luggage as you get on the plane, and they give it back to you as you get off!!! Great.!!!
