:rotfl2:

DS8 had several friends at daycare who had gotten siblings, so he was begging and begging for a "baby brudder or baby sisser." I finally got pregnant right after his 3rd birthday, and we waited until 3 months along to tell anyone. I had a CVS (chorionic villus sampling, basically genetic testing), and so we knew the baby was a boy, and healthy.

We told DS first, and the conversation went like this:

Me: Honey, remember when you were asking for a baby brother or baby sister?
DS3: Yes.
Me: Well, guess what! You're going to have a baby brother soon!
DS3: I wan' a baby sisser.
Me: Sweetheart, it's going to be a boy. You're going to be a big brother.
DS3: I wan' a girl, I wan' a baby sisser. I don' wan' a baby brudder, I wan' a baby sisser.
Me :headache: Well, it's a BOY, and we can't change that. Are you excited?
DS3  : No. I wan' a baby sisser.

I never will forget him being on santa's lap saying that...that was in november...the following october DD was here....he loved her...he wanted to name her Brittany Bop...he quit liking her when she started breaking his things..

I offered the job to DS...:lmao:

I still have no clue about dinner...I think this is a FUJI day....

And a wonderful update on Alec! We had his IEP meeting yesterday (I always leave these bawling hysterically). We sat down with the Speech Therapist, Occupational Therapist and one of his teachers (2 teachers co teach in his class). They started the meeting with "I think your son has above average intelligence, is extremely bored with kindergarten, and we are going to do everything that we can to help him communicate". The speech therapists goal is to meet with him 15-30 minutes EVERY DAY :yay: (the past IEP's even with my fight have been 15-30 minutes/month :sad2: ) She totally understands apraxia, is going to work with the OT and his teachers to help him. They are also going to get an aid to work with him an additional 15-30 minutes/day to reinforce everything :woohoo:

I finally feel like I have a person who cares plus has the knowledge to back it up and really help him :cool1:

Like Baby Bop (Barney the Purple Dinosaur)??? :lmao:

UGH, I can't stand Barney, I feel like all my teeth will fall right outta my head. :headache:

Yeah, DS wasn't too fond of his baby brother, either. He was OK at first, but then after a day or two he covered his ears every time his brother cried, and asked us to make him stop. He said, "Mama, he's too loud! Take him back!" :rotfl2:

Ooooo, that just gave me chills! That is so cool!!! :yay:
Did you cry? You nearly had me!

THAT IS WHAT DS1 DID TO DS2 ... DS2 was so sick when he was born he spent 3 weeks in the hospital....the big one didn't like the noise and hit him...screaming take him back...(he was 2)...he liked the idea of just going to the hospital to visit him and leaving him there!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fuji is food? Japanese take-out or something?

And I'm not remembering what apraxia is, but I'm going to look it up when I get home. I'm wondering if it's lingual, would sign language help him out?

This sounds so unbelievably cool, dizzy! You must be over the moon!!!

yep, its one of my favorite places.....have fun collecting the little one...I am going to jump off of here myself and get a few things done.

I was close - but I was ok. Usually I am crying because I am so upset and it doesn't seem like the people have the knowledge or resources to help

I am super excited!!! I love his teachers this year and this speech therapist is absolutely amazing. Apraxia is very unknown (so much that of his last 2 therapists the first one NEVER HEARD OF IT, and the 2nd knew of it :sad2: )

Basically with apraxia they describe it like this. Say you have the satellite sending in the signal to the tv to put the show on your television. The satellite and the tv work fine, but there is a disconnect with the cables, and by the time it reaches the tv it is all garbled. DS knows what he wants to say - but by the time it reaches his mouth to articulate it it doesn't come out right. The thing with apraxia is with intensive speech therapy the kids can end up speaking 100% - it just takes time and lots of therapy. Unfortunately it is therapy we can't afford (insurance will cover 40% after we meet I believe a 15K annual deductible :faint:) Even the speech therapist we had for a while didn't know too much about it - so it is hard to find someone even qualified, and then foot the bill.

Since it is mainly repetition of sounds (that he needs practice with) his teachers can also help (they only have 9 kids after the 1/2 day go home), and the aides they get can work with him too :yay:

Hello Hyenas,

Looks like it's time to start a new thread soon. I will create a new one and PM all of you :)
