I agree. There are good and bad schools, or maybe just better schools that focus more on self-defense and respect and discipline. I should say that both DH and FIL have studied martial arts, I've had only one karate class in college, so I'm the one who has the least knowledge on the subject.I think some studios just like in the Karate Kid moviemight be more aggressive but that is not how real karate is supposed to be taught.
DH saw many things happen with kids in his youth that he'd like to avoid with our boys, and FIL named two forms that truly are all about self defense, and turning the attacker's force to your advantage in defending yourself. (Naturally I can't seem to keep the names in my head longer than 5 minutes...) I think even once you decide on a discipline, the school and instructors make all the difference. Just like in any other subject, right? Usually there are a few bad teachers to avoid, most are good and caring, and some are just incredible.

He just said he didnt want his friends to see them. Ummmm ok. He still wants to eat them at home. Now I have to go over what exactly are manly snacks and what are not.
