Chatterbox Thread-Cmon in and Jabber! Everyone is Welcome!

Wow it sounded like EVERYBODY had the day from hell yesterday. Here I thought my day was going to be so boring and I got a call from the school and Katy had injured her finger. So I hadn't eaten lunch yet (was supposed to meet mom) so I call the doctor's office and asked what I should do, apt or go to urgent care, and they said they HAD no appts but NOT to go to urgent care but to come get a referral for an x-ray and we could go from there. So we grabbed a quick bite to eat and then go get the referral and I specifically asked WHAT then. The lady said IF the tech saw a problem she would most likely give me the x-rays and we should come back. If NOT then we should just go home and wait for a call.

Well we got the x-rays and the tech said she wasn't sure and gave us the x-rays SOOO we go back to the doc's office ONLY to be told we had to go home and wait for them to get the report from the radiology report. I was livid because we live a WAYS from the doc and I didn't want to have to go BACK when I was RIGHT there and how long can it take to look at her hand! And if they couldn't see her WHY couldn't they have just sent us to urgent care!!!!

Anyway so we go home with NO one having even looked at her and NO medical advice so we just put ice on it and waited. I called the radiology place and they said they faxed the report at 1 and by 4 when I had not heard I called the doc office back and they said they STILL had not looked at it. GRRRRRRR! So then I waited and sure enough 5 comes and goes and by 6 I called AGAIN and left a nasty message on the after hours line for someone to call and give me some advice on what to do since my daughter was in pain and up till now NO ONE had even LOOKED at her hand or given us ANY kind of medical advice. So the doc finally calls and claims he STILL had not seen the report which I think is total bs since I KNOW they faxed it and he just says give her aspirin and ice. So now it is today and I STILL have heard nothing. In the meantime with all the stress, the heat, not getting to eat right away and everything else I got a killer migraine and even going to be at 6:30 I tossed and turned all night and I STILL have a nasty migraine and of course I HAVE to go to work today. But I am just going to run in and get my crap done and come back home. We were planning on going to the movies tonight but that is blown now. Katy can't even move her finger and it is all swollen and black and blue.

Needless to say I am getting another doctor. I am fed up with this one!!!!

Katy probably only has a bad sprain but still not even LOOKING at her hand is unacceptable!

Anyway I am off to take them to school and work here in a few. Hope today is better for all of us!!

:rotfl::rotfl:

Cute!

The caretaker's wife is originally from Columbia, she occasionally mixes up words. Tonight I told her how my little nephew had mono, she lit up and said "hermano? he's going to have a brother?" :lmao:

HAH! in the middle of typing this at 9:30 pm I get a phone call, it's "private name, private number" on caller ID. hmmmm? Typically we get unknown name/ unknown number if it's a telemarketer.. and besides it's after 9 pm, you know after the appointed legal hour of when creditors and businesses can call. I contemplated ignoring it, but Justin is in St Louis with band and what if it was someone calling on their cell that he is sick?

Well the lady launches into her spiel about some readers service company, I ask her "so what are you trying to sell me?" She says we are calling to ask if I am enjoying my magazines. "well I get magazines for many sources, which ones in particular?" (I get all my magazines free thru various programs and offers)

She then tells me she is calling to ask if my magazines come to me in good condition??

I'm thinking.. hmmm.. sounds fishy to me, but hey I'll play!:thumbsup2

I ask, "why are you calling at 9:30 at night?" And she blabbers on how it's on an auto dialer. I then say "isn't it illegal for 1-800 services to call after 9 pm?" She gets snotty and says "well we're no trying to solicit anything" and then huffs a bit.... And before I have a chance to ask her more questions (because you know I am enjoying this little conversation now) she hangs up on me!

:lmao:

Darn, she wouldn't play. :snooty:

Dontcha just love playing with those people that call. :rotfl2: I always use my initials first & middle name initials when I give my name out or sign up for things. My initials happen to be A.L. So, you would not believe the number of calls that I get for Mr. Al Irwin. It's a great way to screen out the junk calls. If they truly know me, they know my first name and that I'm not male.:thumbsup2

WHAT an afternoon!!! We leave the house to go to the toy store.. I wanted to check out what they have, trying to get a jump on CHristmas, see what is out there, what the kiddos want.. All that jazz. WELL... My kids had other ideas. Julie, Kaylee and Alex spent about 10 minutes arguing in the car.. DH turned around, went home, pulled up in front of the house.. and told the three older kids to get out! He gave them our groceries.. told them to get along, OR ELSE.. He said we were going to the toy store, and when we got home.. We expected the house to be clean!! :scared1::lmao::lmao:

So we got a trip to the toy store in peace and quiet.. got to get some ideas for what to get them.. AND we came home to a clean house. :cool1:

Now you're talkin'! Get them kiddos trained, become the meanest mom in the world. Then you know you're doing your job well.:thumbsup2:rotfl2:

Yikes! Hope you get the situation solved today. I agree, time to change doctors.

I loved Kaiser Permanente because if you had a problem like that everything was in the same office; doctor, urgent care, radiology, pharmacy, etc. No running all over town. I got spoiled by that for so many years. Now that I have "normal" medical insurance, I am astounded by how disjointed it is, the number of calls I have to make, nobody seems to know anything, shuffling from specialist to specialist. Kaiser had all of our medical records on their data base so when the medical professional stepped into the exam room, they already knew what was going on.

hmm, I didn't like Kaiser when we lived in CA, I felt like Eloy was being herded from one inexperienced doc to another and he had crappy care (as evidenced by uncontrolled high blood pressure and the whole seizure episodes). Felt like a number vs a person.

Move back to MN, his neph and dialysis are one system but his primary is in a totally different system of hospitals/ clinics. It's one of the crappy things about home hemo.. you are stuck with a handful of centers in the area for support and whatever doc happens to be connected to that dialysis center. I know Medicare and medical assistance says you have patient choice.. but that is not reality if you are on any type of dialysis. You get diagnosed, the hospital social worker calls around to find a center that has a spot open, you get assigned a nephrologist that rounds at that center. You either get very lucky, or you get some jerk. And oh boy! Has Eloy had some jerks!!

I wish his primary doc/ clinic had affiliations with the home hemo clinic. But we also really like his current neph, changing centers means losing a good neph. :guilty:

The primary doc makes a big deal of having a "medical home", she has been featured in many articles before the health reform started. A medical home is great to prevent fractured care, to prevent errors in meds, to do more preventive care, to manage chronic care. The clinic has radiology, pharmacy specialists (to manage complex medications) on site and makes use of paperless files that you can sign up and see online for yourself. Luckily it's really close to our apt too! :goodvibes And he's not treated as a number or herded from one place to another.

It was super slick to get his hand x rayed (digital x ray), have the doc look at it on the computer screen and determine yes indeed he had broken a finger. Took more time to take his history (new patient at the time) then it was to determine what was wrong. Unfortunately, she had to send him to yet another clinic for an orthopod/ hand therapist to make a splint as it was his access arm.

Kelly, look into another clinic. Even a clinic that serves low income population would not have been like what you experienced. You need a "medical home" to manage all of your concerns. I hope her finger feels better today and your migraine is gone.

Awesome! It must be the change in weather/ seasons for kidlets to be so ornery, I had the eye rolling routine with Justin and now Noah is doing the "do I have to??" YES, now scoot before I chop your head off!

I bet that experience will help them realize.. arguing is not a good idea around mom and dad! :lmao:

For the past two days Eloy has been filling out a form for SS, I laughed when I noticed at the end it states "we expect it will take you 2 hours to compete the forms and gather the needed materials".

Yeah, sure it will.. because everyone knows the exact value of all of their assets (car value vs car loan, burial, IRA, savings, checking, bonds, property, other vehicles, stocks) income (including any interest) , monthly bills. :rolleyes1 And knows what the terminology means on some of the questions where we puzzled.. what do they want exactly??

We made a nice stack of copies of everything. SS will know how many times we grocery shop, buy meds, pay for bus passes, that we like Netflix, and frequent thrift stores. They will know we had a day of indulgence at the movie theater and bought a piece of candy at Godiva. Bought something on Amazon and something else at a gift shop.

Our entire financial lives will be shoved into a manila (not vanilla) envelope with a wish and prayer. Hopefully they will GET IT that they can't take ALL of our money and expect it to be a-okay. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3:

hmm, a nice ameretto coke with melty ice sounds just the ticket right now.
:drinking1

oh yeah.. and I left an acidly polite message for our county case worker to do her freaking job.

:thumbsup2

I'm baaaaack! WHEW! Well just as I was taking the girls to school the stupid doc FINALLY called and YEP her hand was broke! Just like I thought. So it was off to the orthopedic surgeon and she now has a lovely cast. They had to re-set the bone because her pinky finger was going sideways and she had this big old lump and I KNEW that was more than a bad sprain!! Anyway I am just sorry she had to suffer with that all day and night with NO pain meds and just ice! We gave her some tyelenol but still.

Anyway she wasn't thrilled about having the bone set and the doc said we have to monitor it because of the bone plates or growth plates or what have you. Something about the break and it not healing properly. So we shall see but the good news is she only needs the cast for 3 weeks and we get it off the Friday before we leave for Florida so it won't ruin her trip!!

What a crazy last few days though!

And yes I am DEF going to look for a new doc but as Western Health told me I have to wait until she is done with all her follow up on the hand. UGH! But it is probably ok cuz we need to get through our trip and possibly the holidays and then we can start anew dealing with this mess and hope nothing goes wrong in the meantime!!

B good luck with the never ending nightmare of SS!!

I am off to pick up shelby from school here shortly and probably come home and crash. I did run in to work to do the few things I had to do and then with all the craziness TOTALLY forgot about payroll taxes and had left my work laptop at home so had to come home and call in the numbers to my mom to have her fill out the paperwork and checks. NOT my day I tell ya. I need to go back to bed LOL.

Have a good rest of your day gals and hope the weekend gets better for all of us!! :)

I read how it played out on your Facebook posts, bummer that the break is in the hand (metacarpals). Hopefully it will heal nicely with the casting and require no further treatment.

I would have loved to hear that message.:thumbsup2

::blush:: It's not my usual way to deal, but Eloy called her twice already. She says on her voice mail that she returns calls in 24 hours, I beg to differ.
We may just hang out at the office some day next week. Schools are out on Thursday- Friday for teacher's convention.

Hi gals! Had a good day yesterday. Girls picked and sold some of our pomegranates. Made about 20 bucks each so far for spending money for our trip next month so they are excited. They are planning on trying to sell the rest today but mother nature is not cooperating much. It looks like rain. My mom has to go to a meeting in the bay area and my dad is holding an open house so I am riding along with her. Hope you all are having a good weekend.

Yesterday Noah had friends over, we hung out in the bedroom while they happily played video games without an adult watching/ breathing on them.

Today we await Justin to see how they did in the competition. Eloy and I didn't really like the show this year, too many voice overs and just odd. They tend to go with the BIG show with extra props and splashy effects.. but there is something to be said of a simple well done show. But he enjoys it so.. more power to him!

:thumbsup2Nothing like being driven out of your own home by the teenagers. I can't tell you how many times DH has gotten up in the middle of the night and needs Tums, drink of water, Tylenol, etc...shakes me awake and says "is anybody out there?". Doesn't want to freak them out by walking out in his skivvies!:rotfl2:

Prior to my reconstruction, I was always having to run into the bedroom to grab Betty and put a bra on. Didn't want to freak out teenagers by walking around with one breast.:rotfl2::surfweb:

Now I know why parents like to push the baby birdies out of the nest...so we can sit around in whatever we want!:lmao:

:lmao:

Yeah, friends of my parents teased them they can hang out in their red long john suits all day (the old fashioned "union suits") , the perfect backwoods sexy fashion style. :rotfl:

wohooo, Justin's band won first in their division, awards in visual performance and general effect. :cool1:

And he totally burned his face, now he's my red neck, red face boy. :lmao:

He's a little sad now the season is done, he needs something to keep him busy.

I'm pushing him to work at getting a job. I'm guessing Target and Walmart will start seasonal hiring soon, really hoping for Walmart since it is very close to home. If he worked overnight stocking on the weekends it would be "do-able" to get there and back with no worries of walking in some icky area at 4 am.

This is a real post on my local Craigslist under the free listings..

Master will provide service to remove negative haunting spirits from residence or embodiments. This is a serious add and is for those that would like the spirits that are bothersome to leave

Love the use of the language. Spam much? :lmao:

You guys crack me up. The late night walking around in skivies and the ghost ad! Hilarious!! Gave me a good laugh!!

Congrats to Justin on his band comp!!

We FINALLY got our first real rain of the season and I loved it. Normally in a really rainy year I would be haiting it after several weeks or months of it but when it has been a really long hot summer I welcome it and I was ready for a cool down and I LIKE a little rain as long as it doesn't go on and on. Of course we actually had to go OUT in it which kind of sucked but having lived in Seattle I am used to it LOL.

Anyway the girls did well with their pomegranate sales. Made about 70 bucks and still have some left. They MAY or may not try to sell what's left next weekend although it is supposed to rain again so that makes it hard. Even if they can't they got a good amount to take on the trip.

My mom owns a house in Puerto Vallarta with a Co-op of about 4 other couples so they have to meet a couple times a year to pay the homeowner's dues and go over stuff. So we went to Livermore to go over everything and then she and I had a nice lunch at a little german place. It was a nice getaway.

Not much on for this week again although I said that last week and look what happened lol. Better not jinx it by saying that. We had hoped to go to the movies on Fri but with everything that happened with Katy it never happened so we are possibly going to do a do-over this Fri OR we may try to do some halloween stuff. Mom found some info about some "haunted" stuff downtown we might try either Fri night or Sun night. Then Sat Shane bought tickets to Nickelback so we are going to see them. I wasn't real thrilled about that with our money issues right now and he did it behind my back but it's done and I will not lie I love them and am excited to see them but I really wish he would have asked me. But hopefully it will be a good time. Then on Sunday we are taking the girls to Dixon to a really fun pumpkin patch. So not much during the week but hopefully some fun stuff on the weekend.

Anyway that's it for me. Off to work today. Have a good day all!

Just thought I'd pop in and say hey girls...i know its been forever but I lurk once in awhile and always happen to come over here when something really "shocking" has happened to someone:headache: anyways I thought about you guys the other day and decided that maybe its time to post something...Ive missed a couple of you alot and well Im over my previous "issues" if you want to call it that:rotfl2: I see theres a new person on here...Kelmac...nice to meet you...I see you are from CA like me and I read a post that you are going to Dixon next weekend? Do you live in Sac area? Anyways, Bernice hope things will be ok with you and the SS..Megan..props to your hubby for putting the smackdown on the kids:rotfl2: it was a total win win situation for both of you right? Allison:hug: just:hug:Ive missed you girl oh and btw you forgot about getting me Michelles addy didnt you? :lmao: ok now GO GET IT:rotfl2: Melody, if you see this, I miss you too...Sarah...drive by hi:goodvibes...Im not doing much here lately except Ive started watching my boy everyday AND Im getting paid for it now:eek: yep Amanda went back to work full time and Tristan is in preschool so Im getting paid to watch him and his sister Leah (who is in 2nd grade this year) till shes off work:cheer2::banana: I would do it for free but with my current circumstance its nice that she thought about me and offered it to me...heres a current pic of Leah taken a few weeks ago:
leahschoolpic2010.jpg

and yesterday we, meaning myself, Amanda, Tiffany took Tristan to the pumpkin patch we have out here and we took this photo of him:
PumpkinPatch2.jpg

we had a good time but it was windy and rainy..we stayed about an hour...they have a huge corn maze and this hay bale maze plus a ton of pumpkins and a covered barn thing that they sell coffee, hot chocolate stuff like that...which of course we made good use of...

and of course today is my girls bday...shes 24 today:cool1::dance3::yay::banana::cheer2: and shes done ALOT of growing up these last couple of years...shes buckled down and worked her butt off at school and now she has one more semester here and shes gone...actually she only has 2 classes she HAS to take but to get financial aid she must have 12 units so shes taking a full load...shes decided to double major in Social Work/Psychology and she has just finished applying to CA State San Diego, Long Beach and her last resort Fresno...she also has to wait till Nov 1 to apply for the school she really wants which is UC Berkeley...she really really wants to go there but is realistic in the fact that it is an Ivy League school and even though she has a really good GPA, with the fact that she screwed up so bad when going to SFSU, shes had to work her butt off which didnt leave any time for volunteering in ANYTHING and they are really big on that...so I dont know...we will just have to wait and see...anyways Im freezing in here and I think Im going to go lay down under the covers and watch tv for awhile...I will try and get on later if anyone is on to chat...take care and talk to you guys later

Lynn!! Whats shakin girlfriend??? Im glad to see you around these parts. I cant believe those kiddos are getting so big. And your daughter!! 24?? OMG. How did that happen?? I know you are asking yourself that same thing.

My husband is always talking about running around naked.. just to embarrass his sister!:lmao::lmao: Last night he was going to bed early.. and he took the computer with him. He looks at me and wiggles his eyebrows at me.. Wanna go watch some porn?? ;);):lmao::lmao: His sister was about to die!! OMG! Do you HAVE to talk about that stuff with me here?? :rotfl2: Thats what makes it fun! It was great. Teenagers are fun!

We have done our pre-Christmas shopping. I think we know what everyone is getting.. We are getting the twinners a play kitchen, which is cool.. all the kids will play with it. Kaylee is getting a dollhouse, and Alex will get some lego sets. Maybe Harry Potter.. star wars.. That sorta thing. Julie wants an MP3 player. I think we are looking into getting her an ipod touch. Plus she LOVES converse.. Its her favorite brand of shoes.. But she has never had a real pair of chucks. I found on their website you can customize them, so we are going to get her a pair of those in her fav colors.

We were at the mall yesterday.. went to Torrid and saw these..
