Chatterbox Thread-Cmon in and Jabber! Everyone is Welcome!

I had my Wednesday shopping.. bought a ton of stuff for not much money. :thumbsup2

No return call from the county worker- argh! I really would like my application processed and get medical before our income changes! I won't qualify for medical, slightly over income.. grrr. I can apply to our state sponsored medical but it takes a month after you pay the monthly premium before it starts. And they don't do retroactive coverage, I have a dental bill from last week for Noah that needs to be covered. :headache:

The SS case worker called while I was out shopping, Eloy said he started to tell her the issues and the phone died (It had been left off the charger for two days). :sad2: He didn't think to try to pick up the handset on the fax machine to continue the conversation. Note to self to remind him that is an option, I had to do that with our old phone that only held a 15 minute charge at a time. Pix can attest to that!

hmm, now what to make for diner?

Just so you all know, I support the following controversial subjects:

5. I would personally leave Dizzy in line at DL by herself, just so the rest of us mature adults could go in for Early Entry mornings.:scared1:

:scared1::scared1::scared1::faint:

Dinner you ask...well tonight we had bacon wrapped pork tenderloin (leftover from last week's menu), fetuccine w/olive oil & italian herbs, coleslaw and cantaloupe (I'm already married).

Kelly, hope you survive the heat wave. It's been unseasonably hot here this week (after our record setting cold & wet summer). Nothing like the CA 100 degree weather, still 80's is kind of strange for this time of year up here. But I'm not complaining. I'm sure the cold & rain will set in soon enough.

I will never forget the party katy got invited to and when I went to pick her up the entire house was FILLED with smoke from POT!! I was NOT happy. And Katy says oh yeah when they were doing the pinata in the garage the mom was smoking "one of those pipe thing" ACK!!! I was SOOO tempted to turn that one in. I mean come on, you can't hold off smoking the pipe till AFTER the birthday party!! puhleeze! That house was SO filled with smoke it was disgusting and I mean really who smokes pot around a bunch of little kids!!!
:scared1:

Then there's poor Dizzy. She seems to hoard infractions from the Dis Masters along with gazillions of little bald blue men shaking their head. Seriously, that's one messed up hoarder!
Seriously??? I see how you are talking crap about me when I am not here to defend myself :snooty::rotfl2:

Then there's our dear Moto. I've seen those kitty cat photos and I'm starting to think that it's not just one or two...she really does hoard cats! Is this the start of crazy cat lady?
Let's not talk about hoarding cats. Remember the cute little kitten I let in last winter when it snowed (and we found mice). Well, she was female and was not fixed
OMG Alison you kill me!!!

I sure needed that and YES I need to share the wealth and give some of these damn headaches away!! And some of my other craptastic stuff too LOL.

I needed that laugh! Thanks!!

Oh and Rochelle you love Fringe!! Yay!! A fellow Fringe watcher!!! Now I have someone to talk shop about!!! I can't WAIT for it to come out and in fact that is one of the shows I collect on dvd. The 2nd season came out on Tues but due to my recent lack of funds I have to wait to get it but I can't WAIT till next week!! I was actually thinking about starting to watch House since most of the shows I used to watch are no longer on. I was an avid Heroes, Lost and Ghost Whisperer fan and ALL of those are gone as well as Flash Forward and some others that I liked.

Fringe is about the only thing left on that I love! I do watch survivor and Amazing Race and I do like those but I LOVE the sci fi shows and it seems like they are getting away from those again. :(

I am going to watch the event and no ordinary family and hope they are good and don't get cancelled!!!

So if I start watching house will I be out of the loop since I haven't BEEN watching or is it one of those shows that is kind of a new one every week type deal that you don't really have to have been following along too much??
Yay for Fringe :yay:
OK, who ratted me out?LOL.

:snooty: Yep I see.....no one ratted you out....but you got caught!!! You see, DH had to go to Phoenix for the night, so I had nothing to do but catch up on countless pages....wasn't quite expecting to see my name mentioned as much as I did :rotfl2: Too bad I missed you though - I kept looking for green lights as I read back, but I must have missed yours :sad2::sad2::sad2:

Morning all and happy Thursday!!

Allison oh yes it has been HORRIBLY hot here! BLEH. Usually I can deal although I don't do heat well but when we have days and days of it I get used to it but we have actually had a fairly mild summer and then when we get these sneak attacks it just hits me and BLAM. I don't know if it is sinuses or just plain going from cool to hot so fast but the last few days I have had TERRIBLE migraines. I had one Tuesday night after work but it seemed to go away and I promised the girls I would go to jogathon but then I was out in that direct sun and by the time I got home I was dieing. Then I had to go BACK out to pick them up and that did me in. I came home and took a cool shower but I was feeling nauseated on top of my splitting headache and then dh informed me that he had decided that yesterday of all days he was going to go open a business bank acct for which they require a min dep of 5,000. I was like where in the hell do you think you are going to get that!!! It is a long story but the state is giving him all KINDS of grief about starting this business and I was NOT happy. He has a partner who has been fronting the money till we get started and then he is supposed to "pay him back" but they don't want him to do that. They want him to be the primary on this business because he is doing a disable vet thing and it is just really complicated but the money had to be ours and he couldn't get it from the partner and on and on. So needless to say my headache only got worse!

I ended up sending the girls to my mom's by themselves and I went to bed at 8 right after survivor. (had to force myself to stay up to see that one LOL)

Hopefully today will be a better day although not sure. Shelby claims she has a bladder infection and I was planning to take them to the pharmacy to get flu shots today because I didn't want to mess with going to our doctor. They do a walkin clinic and you can sit there till you grow cobwebs. Well now we are going after school for her apt so I am going to try to slide in on that for the flu shots but we may still have to go to the pharmacy cuz I am not going to wait till tomorrow! Just another day in paradise ;)

Dizzy good to see you back! And I see you are another Fringe lover! LOVE Thursday nights. Can't wait to see another epi tonight!! My fav night of tv!! :) Tonight should be "our" universe so we get to see alt olivia in action. I hope peter figures her out right away!! :)

Anywho that's my lovely day in the big city! Stay cool everyone and have a great day!!

We had one of Dh's friends over for dinner last night. It was nice. We dont have very many guests.. To many kiddos I guess.. :lmao: His family was supposed to come, but his baby had an ear infection so his wife stayed home with the baby. We had German Noodles, German bread, German Potato Salad.. and Italian beef...:lmao: Apparently I was feeling very European yesterday!:rotfl2: We had a blast.. Its nice to have some chatty adult time. AND we are going to try to get together and go hiking with them next week. It will be fun! I was afraid seeing the kids here at home would scare him off.. But it didnt!

Other than that.. Nothing new here. My mom just got home from her latest cruise.. She had a good time. She did Europe this time.. Brought home some chocolate, cheese and wine.

Hi All! Hope everybody had a wonderful day.:):):)

Been a busy few days at work. Just trying to get caught up with my in basket, before the 1st of the month. Which is tomorrow!:scared1: And then everything starts all over again.:rotfl2:

DD is going to really appreciate me tomorrow. I have a stack of about 450 pages that she has to photocopy for our bankers tomorrow. Should be fun!:thumbsup2 Have I mentioned I love having an assistant to give all these crappy jobs to?:lmao:

And yet you couldn't seem fit to publish her address since I work in the same town that she lives in? I would be willing to help her with the chocolate, cheese & wine. Seriously, isn't that what friends are supposed to be for?:rotfl2:

Hey Dizzy is still alive! You know, if you don't post very often it's easy for some of us (Alison) to talk some smack about ya. ::yes:: :rotfl:

We have had a nice couple of warm days, tricking us into a sense of "this isn't bad, I bet winter will be warm this year" before the real evil season starts.
We will be dropping back to the 50's during the day and 30's overnight this weekend. And I, being my own personal barometer, already can feel the changes that are about to occur. It's my own early warning system, but I never signed on for this type of service.. return to sender, do not pass go, do not collect $200! Argh! :headache:

The happier part of cooler weather, I can finally do some baking without over heating the apartment! I stirred up my first batch of 5 minute a day artisan style bread, it's happily growing in the fridge until I hack off some to bake. I went the cheap route: ice cream bucket instead of a fancy cambro container, plan to use a baking sheet instead of buying a peel and baking stone. If the bread lives up to the hype, I might indulge in buying a stone.
Eloy happily buys artisan breads at GASP full price! If this works, that's more ca-ching in the pocket :thumbsup2

Morning all and TGIF!

Well yesterday I took Shelby to the doc and lo and behold she DOES have a uti which I was pretty positive she did and then all three of us got our flu shots. That part was fine except that their computers were down so that was a bit of a pain but then after we left they said they were going to fax the scrip to walgreens and I had to go anyway to pick up my reg meds. I had 2 scrips that needed refilling and so I called them in to my doc on monday. One is one he has refilled before and the other is one from my neuro that I had several refills but it was finally up so I had to have him refill it. So I get to walgreens and I only have 2 of the three scrips I had ordered and NO scrip for shelby. They told me that my doc had not faxed it there yet even though it had been a half hour since we left her office. GRRR.

So then I asked we my bp meds weren't there and they tell me that I had gotten my last refill on the 8th and had to wait till the 3rd for my refill. This is another thing that pisses me off. They make you wait till the LAST minute to get refills and as it is my doc only gives me 1 or 2 months at a time so I have to call them every other month. I have been on these meds for a couple of YEARS and it is not like anything is going to change. If they would give me more than just a little at a time I could do mail order and get more and it would be cheaper but NOOOOO. Plus I don't know WHAT the hell I am going to do if I run out and I am going on vacation! STUPID!!!!

Anyway then I looked at the scrip I had transfered to him and he gave me NO refills. STUPID. This is my topomax for my migraines and I have been on this for 4 years daily. I mean he gives me ONE month's worth. IDIOT! I am about to go back and say just refer me back to another neuro. At least my old one was smart enough to know I needed it every month and gave me plenty of refills. SO stupid!

Anyway so I go home and I get a call that Shelby's stuff had been "delayed". So then I call back and they say it will be ready at 5 and I go ONLY to be told I am only getting a partial because they didn't have it in stock. UGH! So I only got enough for like 2 days and she needs it for 7! Yet I STILL had to pay the entire copay. And it was like 20.00 which is stupid because usually antibiotics is the cheapest copay. SO disgusted. Oh and he wouldn't let me use my express pay because "shelby" wasn't set up on it eventhough Shane and I both ARE. I was NOT in a good mood needless to say.

So hopefully they get me the balance of her meds before she runs out!!!

Then last night I got home and my arm started to progressively hurt worse. Weird cuz usually I have never had a flu shot hurt. And then I started feeling crappy but that could have just been from my headaches I have been having all week. But needless to say I fell asleep in the middle of fringe so I am going to have to re-watch it online LOL.

Mom has to go to Truckee today and there wasn't much to do so I am not going in today and I am glad. Don't really feel up to it. I MAY finally go get my mop cut if I feel like it otherwise just hanging out. Shane is working late and IF I feel like it I may take the girls to a movie or something tonight. Otherwise that is it for us.

We have a soccer game tomorrow and Shane and Katy are going on a bike ride with the swim team on Sunday.

Hope you all have a good day today and a fun weekend.

I totally understand your frustration with the pharmacy issues.

Eloy had issues all the time with Walgreen's where they don't keep much meds in stock, when he was on transplant meds we knew to send in for the refill long before it was due as they never had the meds in stock. Since we both were positive for CMV (the virus you get from cat poop, very common to test positive, most adults do!) he had to get an antiviral med for the first few months. They had to special order it from the supplier, causing a mini crisis when he was down to just a few doses until the order came in.

They also didn't have a vitamin in stock, they sent him across the street to an independent pharmacy to fill that one.. odd they would send him to a competitor.
Got I.O.U. for his phosphate binders each month (he takes 6 capsules with every meal, wipes out their supply with each refill as they didn't bother stocking extra).. big hassle to go back to the pharmacy each week to get a little more, a little more, a little more.. :headache:

They also put the wrong phone number on one scrip, found out there was another guy with same name in the area.. :scared1:

Then when he no longer needed any of those meds due to rejection, they were still in the system. Made it really hard to hunt and peck thru dozens of active and non active scrips when submitting refills online. All long past expired scrips, yet they wouldn't remove them from the list when we asked.

Gave up and went to CVS as soon as they opened here. SO much easier! And they deliver for free. :goodvibes

I'm wondering if they charged your regular full co-pay instead of the cost of the antibiotic? Antibiotics are usually really cheap unless it's name brand or specialty. In most states, it's illegal to charge higher than med cost. Some pharmacy techs get lazy and forget to check.

It's homecoming game day!
Justin is playing as part of the massed band (all of the high school band and the closest middle school) for the pep fest pre-game and will do the marching band field show at half time.
Saturday morning he is off to a nearby city for field show competition and in the evening is the dance (semi formal). he was being wishy washy about going to the dance, we gave a little shove and said GO! it's senior year, go have some fun!

I'm so proud, he sold all of his required fundraiser raffles on time. :yay: Used group sales and went out on his own or with friends for several nights after school. Eloy sold 4 at work, came home to find Justin had sold enough on his own that day! He was going to ask if his "extras" can count for a friend's quota. :goodvibes $25 is a hard sell for a raffle ticket. If they sold a "thing" at lower cost, I wonder if it would be easier to achieve the goal quickly.. even if they had to sell more than the current requirement. Cookie dough, butter braids, Entertainment books....are all big money makers.

I remember my parents buying fresh lobsters as part of a cousin's cheerleader fundraiser - that was a special treat at the time, they were not sold in grocery stores. We don't even have live tanks at my local stores now, it's all "fresh" frozen - blech!

You know I really wasn't talking smack...we all know she's a :sad2::sad2::sad2: hoarder!lol. Kind of makes you wonder how many of these little blue guys she has hidden in her computer? Just kidding Dizzy, you know we luv ya! Wish you would visit us more often.

Bread...YUMMMM!!!

I'm going to give you my free advice (some people say it's worth the cost!:rotfl2:). Anyway, always keep a list of the $4 prescriptions in your purse. Walmart, Target and whoever else in your area has cheap drugs. When the doctor says you need...say an antibiotic; just pull the lists out and say "will any of these work"? We only have a $10 co-pay and I can mail it in and get reimbursed from our HSA, but still it's a pain. Much better to just pay $4 or $10 for 3 months worth. All the stores have their lists online and they are organized by type of drug.:thumbsup2

Oh, and hope you both are feeling better soon.:):):)

mmm caramel apple
I don't know why but every year I look at the caramel apples and break out in a smile. Sure sign of fall, childhood memories? I dunno, it's not like I usually buy them. But today I HAD to buy some.

The were from Abdallah chocolates, a locally founded company since 1909 and run by four generations of family. Which that alone is kinda cool that this small operation, that typically only sells to wholesale and carried in exclusive gift shops, now sells caramel apples at Cub. And the "hey that's kinda neat" moment is that when Eloy was a nursing asst he took care of Mr. Abdallah, the founder of the company.

And mmmm, they are very good. I am a sucker for caramel anything, it should be it's own food group and I would faithfully eat it every day like the good girl of the clean plate society.. mmmmm caramel. Good quality melt in your mouth caramel. Not that cheapo plasticy stuff, the kind that has tons of buttery rich goodness to melt in your mouth. ahhhhh, caramel heaven. :goodvibes

They had a store in Mpls for the longest time. Now they only have the company store attached to the factory. I would go but it's far far far in Burnsville, one of the far away south suburbs.

mmmmmmmmmmmmm, hope Cub carries more delights from Abdallah.

My SIL called today, we are the first in the family she called to announce that she is expecting. :goodvibes Her mom and other brother are both at work and she couldn't wait to share her news with someone. :yay:

We speculate she called us first to hear the happy " Congratulations!" before hearing the grumbly responses we are expecting from her mom and sarcasm from her brother. :sad2:

We knew she was trying to conceive since June, she was a little sad during the camp out, right before 4th of July, as she figured out she wasn't preg. She mentioned it to Eloy and I, their mom overheard and scoffed "you don't need that yet!" And SIL gave the exasperated eye roll response and a sad look at us.

I know MIL loves her kids and doesn't like to admit they are all grown.. and no longer under her control.. but geesh! Even if you don't agree, you bite your tongue and don't purposefully strike out at your adult children to make them feel miserable [insert bad language here]!

Anyway, she and her dh are young and struggling.. we did the same and though it's not the best way to start out.. It's what she has wanted and dreamed over for a long while. Eloy is ecstatic and eager to be uncle, this time on his side of the family. We are already thinking of shopping, silly since it's very early yet. Sending her many prayers and wishes for a good healthy pregnancy .. and low stress! :flower3:
