Chatterbox Thread-Cmon in and Jabber! Everyone is Welcome!

Hello,

I got to read a little bit but not quite caught up on this thread. I did want to say:

*Sarah (Moto)-

I hope you had a great birthday and I'm so happy that you finally got that Dooney & Bourke purse! :goodvibes Your mom is so sweet to get that for you and the Tink pin :)

Thanks!

I almost don't want to use it becasue I don't want it to get dirty. :rotfl: I'm planning on going to DL on Saturday and I want to buy the matching wristlet to use as a camera bag.:thumbsup2

((hugs)) Rochelle! I hope this new therapy works for you and I agree with your friend. Baby steps. It is going to take a LONG time but you WILL get over this I PROMISE! I remember when I first got divorced I didn't want to go to our friend's wedding because I knew it would make me feel bad being there alone and having just split up with dh. Plus I went up to my friend's parents house for a shower and not only the fact that she was having a bridal shower but then I saw pics of myself with my ex at her sister's wedding and I almost broke down in tears because as I said once it seems that once you break up with someone you only seem to remember the "good" stuff. You miss the things that you enjoyed with them or liked and you feel lonlely and vulnerable but that is when you need to draw on your inner most strength and overcome. I was left all alone up in another state when my ex left me and I TRIED to make it work but I couldn't financially and coming back to CA where my family was helped a lot so being around things and people that make you happy is a big plus!

Take care and I hope you start feeling a little better.

Hi to everyone else and Sara have fun on Saturday!!

I have a very stressful life and with my husband having no work and my son out of school, they play the xbox. They were rough housing, and broke it. Now it a total drama scene with both of them. We have to send it out somewhere to get it fixed, and right now they are both driving me insane!! Plus Im having major DL withdrawls cause we have no money to go and I havent been since 2008, and I used to go every year since I was 1yr old. So Im highly stressed!

Hope things get better for you soon and welcome to the group... de-stress away with a good rant post and kick back, relax.. tomorrow is a new day! :flower3:

Actually it was amaretto coke and then we switched to iron butterfly (which promptly kicked my booty into total numbness) :lmao:

We went off to our new Thursday weekly adventure at the farmer's market downtown. Walked and looked at every stall and then decided what to get. Hubby wanted to splurge and try a little bit of everything so we got a few things that we typically would not buy as they are pricey..
sourdough bread, beef sticks, pickles, 2 containers of hummus
And the typical vegies/fruit: cherries, strawberries, nectarines, plums (I've been craving fruit), pea pods (first of the season), cucumbers, mushrooms and fresh garlic.

At the last minute I found a stall that had garlic scapes :yay:
I had read about them on a food blog and wanted to try them. They are only available at the beginning of the season. It's the top flowering part of the garlic plant, farmers snap the tops off to encourage the bulb to grow larger.
They are not as bitter or strong as regular garlic, they have a gentle garlic flavor with a green and fresh taste. You can treat them like scallions (green onions) and have it chopped in dips or in long pieces in a stir fry like asparagus or grind them with Parmesan, olive oil, pine nuts/walnuts/almonds to make into pesto for pasta.

For dinner we had leftover lentils and rice, made a beautiful cucumber tomato salad and added a bit of garlic scape to punch it up. Followed by yummy fruit.. mmmmmm

I love summer. :lovestruc

Is it hypocritical for me to be surfing Disney Boards while at a Neighborhood Crime Watch meeting? This is a much nicer topic to think about than what is being talked about here.

Morning and Happy Friday!! TGIF!! This week seemd to drag but I am glad it is FINALLY Friday!! Last day of school here FINALLY! YAY!!!

Yesterday I went in to work and it wasn't TOO bad with the manager gone but I was glad to get out of there when it was time to go. DEF always stressful there no matter what! Came home and picked up the girls and we hung out till swim and then went over and they cancelled it AGAIN because it was graduation at the school we swim at and some rather NASTY things had been thrown in the pool as pranks including a dead rat and an ice cream cone to name a few. Needless to say they were unable to swim in it until those things were fixed. SOOO we went back home and got blizzards at DQ instead ;)

We are on a Harry Potter catch right now and watched 1 on Wed and 2 last night. Then we watched the WOC broadcast and it was REALLY awesome and got us REALLY excited for our trip!!!

Now today I am off with the girls to school for the last day festivities. I am helping Katy's class with their field day and not sure if I will stay to the end of the day or not. Field day is over at 10:45 but school is not out till 12:40 so I may or may not leave and come back. Just have to see how it goes. But then the girls and I are going to go see Letters to Juliet and then have dinner somewhere fun to celebrate school being over!

Tomorrow we have our first away meet and I have yet to figure out where it is but I think I kind of know. I am not thrilled at having to go to an away meet, esp when where I don't even know where I am going, by myself but I guess I will manage. None of our friends will even be there so that makes it even harder. Usually the away teams have to set up their owns tents and such away from the pool so I am not too sure where I am going to end up tomorrow. When we go we bring our pop up, an ice chest and a BUNCH of other stuff. Towels, food etc. But tomorrow I am going to just bring waters and a few snacks and my chair and that's bout it. It is too hard to put up our pop up by myself (it is HUGE). So hopefully I can find someone that will let me share their tent for the day ;)

I am anxious to watch the girls swim and really missed seeing them last weekend.

Don't have anything going on on Sunday that I know of and Monday I have the CPA coming in to work and I have to take the girls so THAT should be interesting. And then I have to take my kitty to the vet sometime next week for her yearly shots and I also need to make my apt for my mammogram prob for the week after we get back from our trip. I have had the slip now for a couple months and with everything going on I just have NOT had the time to do it but I NEED to get it done! I haven't had one in three years! EEK! Next Saturday we have another meet and supposedly a baseball game and of course next Sunday is Father's day so I am not sure yet what we are doing but I am thinking we will take Shane out and I also plan to see Toy Story SOME time that weekend.

So still got quite a bit to do yet so hopefully that will make the time fly!! ;)

Oh and I almost forgot our GS party is supposed to be on Sunday but I STILL have not heard anything so guess I will have to wait and see LOL.

Welcome to the new ladies and B glad you had fun at the farmer's market! Sounded like a YUMMY dinner!!

Have a great day ladies and talk soon!

Morning and happy Saturday! I am off here in a few minutes to the swim meet but wanted to check in with everyone before I left.

Yesterday was a fun day. Field day/last day was fun. Shelby got an award at school for best all around student in her class and a few other awards and Katy had fun at Field day. They did well on their report cards and then after school we went and saw Letters from Juliet. LOVED that movie!! Then we went to Chillis for dinner and came home and finished watching Harry Potter 2.

Today we are off to the meet and that's bout it as it is supposed to be HOT today so I am sure we will be toast by the time we get home. :)

Have fun Sara 1 if you go see WOC! And for the rest of you have a GREAT weekend!!

ok i got to know, what is a iron butterfly? i have had amaretto cokes, have you tried a amaretto sour? those are good!:)

Amaretto sour? hmm, might try that another time.

The iron butterfly reminded me of Bailey's Irish cream or creme de cocoa.
Looked it up...

1 shot vodka
1 shot Kahlua® coffee liqueur
1 shot Irish cream

Pour vodka over ice in an old-fashioned glass.
Add kahlua and irish cream, and stir.

ahhh, vodka :rolleyes1
The feeling numb sensation all makes sense now :lmao:

Morning and happy Sunday!

Well yesterday was a good day! It has FINALLY started to get hot but luckily we had some wind. It was good and bad. Good because it wasn't quite as hot but BAD because it was pretty STRONG and was blowing everything everywhere including our tents and such.

Katy had another GREAT meet. She took 2nd in everything BUT she actually got better times. This was a little bit tougher team so even though she wasn't able to get 1st she still dropped her times which is the most important thing. On their relay team they were missing one of their fast swimmers so that made a big difference and Katy actually was ahead on her leg but they had gotten so far behind on the first leg she just couldn't catch them up. They actually increased their time from last week too so hopefully when the fast girl returns they will do better next time!!

Then in her 25 free she dropped her time quite a bit and missed first by only 1 1/100th of a second the first place girl swam a 15.62 and Katy did it in 15.63! So it was def a photo finish. Then Shelby did well in her free too and got a 2nd place in her heat as well. Shelby then swam backstroke but got confused and thought she saw the flags to coast in to finish but it was a different line and so she kind of stopped midway and got last place. So that was a bummer but hopefully she will not make that mistake again LOL. Then Katy swam the 50 free and did amazing. She dropped her time 3 seconds from 38 to 35!! She again got 2nd and missed first again by only a few hundredths of a second! Then Shelby swam the breast stroke and again took 2nd in her heat and Katy did butterfly and dropped her time down to a 17.87 which is awesome for her. She has been in the 18's this entire time and although she got 2nd she was VERY close to the first place girl again and still is 1st in our team. I think the next closest girl is still a 19 something!! Then both girls swam the free relay and Katy's team was SO close once again but again they didn't have their fastest swimmer and so they got 2nd once again and I think Shelby's team got 6th. So all in all it was a pretty good day!

I took them out for a celebratory ice cream cone and then we just came home and watched more of our Harry Potter Marathon. We were all pretty wiped out though and fell asleep on the couch during the 5th one LOL.

Today was SUPPOSED to be our girl scout party but it has been moved to July so we don't have anything on the agenda which is nice for a change. I am going to take Katy out to Walmart to get the last Percy Jackson book since she finished the 4th one but otherwise today is just going to be a kickback relax day!

Tomorrow our CPA was supposed to come in but he had to cancel which I am kind of glad cuz that means I can go in get my stuff done and leave since I have the girls. I also have to take my cat to the vet this week to get her annual shots and a few other chores before we leave next week.

I am hoping to take the girls to see Toy Story on Friday although they have swim practice on Fridays now starting this Friday so we may or may not do that and then of course we have the baseball game on Saturday and then Sunday is father's day and we are going to do something with Shane but I need to see what he wants to do first.

I am SO ready for our trip!! Can't wait. I hope this week flys by!!!

Hope everyone had a good day yesterday and for any that went to DL yesterday hope you had fun!!!

It's kick back relax Sunday.
Though we might need to head to the store to buy a paper, the two vending boxes next door were not filled. Hoping they don't plan to take them out, I tried to use one last week and it wouldn't unlock to give me a paper. I would think the delivery person thought it odd that it was still full, hopefully they didn't take it as a sign to no longer service it.

I should have bought an early Sunday/ Saturday yesterday at the store (walked home in the rain!) but it often is missing inserts. The coupon inserts are the only reason I buy the paper!

Another gray dreary day, not raining.. YET!
What happened to our summer weather? :confused3
Hopefully it's nice when we go for an overnight at the end of the month.
MIL wanted to go camping on 4th of July but there was no availability or required a three night stay (which we can't do with dh's dialysis). She agreed to a mid week stay, we reserved a site that we have never been to before and it's only 40 minutes away on a lake in the south metro. I like the idea that we don't have far to go to find a campground.

Now I need to figure out food for that night and the morning.
MIL was chattering about steak .. ummmm too much work and too pricey for my budget. Besides, I can have that anytime (with a sale).

How often can I have a hot dog roasted over an open fire? Or use our pie irons to make a tasty treat? And roast marshmallows?

I'm not even sure the site has a BBQ grate or if it's just a plain fire ring.
One more thing to pack just to have steak, you can just go to a local park for BBQs.

I'm thinking of..
Hot dogs
smores or just marshmallows
nibbly food - cheetos are a rare treat
peppers, broccoli, cauliflower and dip
Some fruit
for the pie iron: pizza (pillsbury pizza crust in a can, some pepperoni, sauce and cheese), or quesadillas (slap a tortilla in the pie iron, put on toppings, wrap it up and close the iron) and something sweet.

Any ideas?

Morning and happy Monday!

B your camping trip sounds like fun! I hope it all works out for you guys!!

I haven't been camping in YEARS! When I was married to my first husband we used to go all the time and Shane and I have gone once but I just can't tent camp anymore. With my health issues it is just too hard to sleep on the ground outside. If we ever get enough money we are thinking of buying a trailer but until then prob won't happen. I do miss it though and used to LOVE it!

Yesterday was pretty laid back for us. I took the girls to walmart but they were out of Katy's book so we just came back home and hung out and Shane got back from his trip and so after a bit we went over to mom and dad's cuz the girls wanted to go swimming. We bbq'd and just kicked back. It was a nice relaxing day.

Now today I have to go in to work but am hoping not to have to stay too long since I have the girls. We start earlier practice tonight and they also start morning practices a few days a week but I won't be able to do them on the days I work and I have to take the cat to the vet one day this week so I am not sure how much we will be able to do it this week.

Anywho that's bout it for me. Hope everyone has a good day and take care!

Sleep on the ground? No way! Some clever person invented inflatable mattresses, almost as good as my bed at home. :thumbsup2

camping. i should do that once...get back in touch with nature.

well after an eventfull weekend, i am now back at work. something is making me feel sick too, i think it's the aftermath of this weekend:rolleyes1. i hit up glowfest at DCA, that was a BLAST!!! i never gotten to seeWOC yet, had a Fp ticket for it on saturday night for the 11:15 show..got tired and was not feeling well so i never even went.

anyhow i think i had too much fun this weekend. next weekend i got to tone it down i guess, i guess i can't boogie down like i used to when i was 21...darn 30's!

anyhow i hope everyone else is good. eatmypixiedust-- i sent you a lengthy e-mail, your inbox here was full would not let me send soo i went your profile and clicked on the link to send to your e-mail, so disboards sent you an e-mail from me..anyhow i hope you read it, do know that your not the only one that has been through that.

popcorn::

Ok!!! Finally caught up - that took awhile :faint:

So...it has been awhile - long time no talk to :sad2::sad2::sad2: but hopefully now that school and the drama that ended the year is over (and that I am home to watch the kiddos during the day) I will actually have time to stop by and say hey!!! (Yeah, I say that, but the kids have really been out of school for three weeks already :rolleyes1)

Sounds like things have been crazy for all the hyenas (and the new hyenas in training) so I will just throw out one big :grouphug: to hopefully cover everything!!!

It's only hypocritical if you're surfing on a stolen laptop, using bootleg copies of Windows and stealing bandwidth from the next door coffee shop's free wireless internet connection!:lmao::rotfl2:

Hiya Ladies....sorry I've been MIA. Spent all of last week trying to get DD's graduation party planned, shopped for and set up.

Anyway, she won a $500 scholarship last week, which will go nicely with the $7,000 she got from the college. Now all I have to do is dredge up another $15,000 for this year's tuition...:scared1:.

Had a good party, I was planning on about 35-50 people showing up. I'm thinking maybe 60-70 showed up. Luckily I overplan everything, so we had tons of food. I swear I walked 10,000 miles in one day (in my backyard!). The first people showed up around 2pm and the last people left around 1am. It was an awesome party.:thumbsup2

Spent Sunday morning cleaning up the mess and then napped the rest of the day. DANG I was beyond tired!!!!

Haven't really had time to go back and read everyone's posts in the last week or so, hope everyone is doing well.:):):)

Morning and happy Tuesday all!

Sara sounds like a wild time at Glowfest. We are going to prob go to DCA at least 2 days so prob let the girls do glowfest on the day we DON'T do WOC because it seems like it would be too hard to do them in the same day. We are eating at AG at 5:30 and I am pretty much thinking we need to go straight over to the viewing area pretty much after we eat and "hang" out till they start letting people in so the girls have a fairly decent chance of getting a place where they aren't blocked.

I think they would love glowfest though so I hope to do it on a different night. Perhaps Tues. We have dinner ressies at CC but I am thinking maybe afterwards we will hop over to DCA for glowfest.

Alison congrats to your daughter on her scholarship!! And the party sounded like a lot of fun!! I bet you are glad it is all over though!! ;)

Yesterday I just went in to work and it was the same ol same ol and then mom was swamped and I didn't want the girls bugging the agents so we took off and headed to target and finally found Katy's book and also got the girls some extra cover ups to take on our trip since they will be using their's up till the day before we leave and I don't know if I will have time to get everything washed. They can ALWAYS use an extra anyway!

We then ran over to the mall to hang out while we waited for mom to meet us for lunch and the girls got some new tennis shoes for our trip as well. Payless had their buy one get one half off so that worked out well! :)

Anyway then we came home and did some stuff around here and just as we were about to go to swim dh came home with my younger cousin (she is 22) and apparently she had some type of altercation with a boyfriend and I was like oh boy here we go. She had apparently called him at 2 a.m. the night before and wanted him to come pick her up from some bar. NOT cool in my opinion. I mean she seriously needs to be able to confide in her own PARENTS and not my dh who is a shoe string relative. He obviously didn't get the message but he went and picked her up after work and then she wanted him to go with her to get her car from this guys house and I was not happy about the whole situation. I personally felt like she needed to tell her parents and not be getting us involved in this whole thing. The last thing we needed was for dh to get in some kind of fist fight with this guy and land in jail! Luckily that didn't happen but I was not thrilled. ONE of the reasons that my stepdaughter is no longer with us is because we are MUCH more strict on our rules. I have always said that if you are going to live in my house, regardless of age, you are going to have to respect me and my home and that means NOT staying out all night long and being irresponsible etc. I told SD and I told dh I would have told her, if you want to go out all night and be crazy then be my guest if you live on your own and are supporting yourself. But if you are living in my home you need to respect me and the fact that we work and get up early etc etc and you will not be coming and going as you please. So it is a bit of a disagreement but I think it is funny that she lives with her mom and her mom let's her stay out all night etc but yet she is still afraid to tell her what occured. I don't know. Anyway so we had to deal with THAT whole mess and then we had swim and the girls didn't get half their ribbons because there was a big mess up.

So that was my eventful day LOL. Now today I am taking the girls to morning swim and have a few errands to run and laundry to do but otherwise nadda. Then we have night practice as well and that's bout it. Then tomorrow is the vet. Thurs is more swim and Fri is work again. At least I will be busy ;) Hopefully the week will fly by!

Anyway hope everyone has a good day and talk to you all later!
