Chatterbox Thread-Cmon in and Jabber! Everyone is Welcome!

For those of you who remember what's been going on with DBF's cousin, well they had court on Friday and officialy took her away from her parents. Her dad actually admitted what he was doing, well the parts they had proof of (texts and notes) but continues to deny the rest but at least cousin never has to go back there. She is still in the foster home but she's doing good. We are still waiting to hear is DSIL got approved to care for her or not.

DBF and I get visits with her 1-2 times a week for a few hours in the evening. The foster mom always tells us how happy cousin is after out visits. :)

I told cousin that when she is allowed to have full day visits I am taking her to Disneyland. :woohoo:

We still don't know what's going on with the criminal case. Hopefully with the proof and his admitting stuff he will be put away for a LONG time!

that is a relief!! wow thank god he admitted, and he may be put away for a long time, my dad was..but everyone's case is differnt. but a big relief for you righT?

Afternoon gals!!

Rochelle sounds like you scored some more great deals and everything you got sounds really cute. I very rarely go to old navy but I think they do have some good prices and do like their stuff. They are not in our mall but rather in a strip mall ACROSS from the mall so I just never think to go there. Sounds awesome though!!

I agree about the D&B bags. I LOVE them but would NEVER pay those prices. I have ONE purse that my mom bought me years ago. She did pay some money for it but I have literally had it for like 10 years and it is the ONLY one I have. I have some small purses and of course my travel bags but I just have the one main one I use every day.

I am not NEARLY as talented as Bernice in the bargain department but I NEVER pay full price for anything. I shop mostly at Target or walmart and when I DO shop at Penneys I never buy anything that isn't on sale. So although I am not quite as good at getting the REALLY stellar deals I still try to get good deals as much as possible and certainly don't like paying any more than necessary!!! ;)

Anyway today since all our chores were done I took the girls to the bank and they each got to deposit their money from their piggy banks and now they each have a little over 300. This is all money that they have gotten over the years from christmases, birthdays, tooth fairy etc. I would never let them spend it but rather save it all although the last year or so they are old enough now that they want to keep it so this past year when katy has lost all her 2nd set of baby teeth she kept all her money and used it for spending money at DL and now for the fair or whatever.

We have two pomegranete trees and when we sell the fruit we usually get about 100 bucks and we let the girls have the money and split it and I make them save that so that helps too but it is teaching them to save and I told them eventually when they get jobs they can add to it. When my stepdaughter started working I would only let her have a small amount of her checks and make her put all the rest in the bank and she had almost 2000 saved up but then she ran off and then when she came back and got her 2nd job and was living with my parents my mom let her have access to her money and she never had ANY! She spent the entire amount EVERY week and then some. She even deposited empty envelopes into the atm and got in trouble. It was a nightmare. Again more crap that she pulled. But the point of it all is that everyone told me I was so tight with her and should have let her have access to her money but when "I" was managing it she actually SAVED quite a bit but when she had controll of her own she had none and even broke the law :( So hopefully our girls will learn a better lesson and make better choices!

Anyway then mom called while I was at the bank and asked if I wanted to meet her for lunch so we did and that was nice but I told her that if money is tight I REALLY don't see the point in trying to take a cruise. EVEN one here on the west coast. She already upgraded the girls AP's and don't get me wrong I would LOVE to do something else besides disney but we are all short on money and I just don't think it is a good idea if she is short right now. So we are thinking of taking a 3 or 4 day weekend around veterans day and going. They have cheap airfare on southwest I just haven't been able to get on the hotel website to see about cheap rooms. That will be the cincher. IF we can find a good deal then we will go.

I told her that since we got them the AP's I want to at least get 2 more trips out of them before they expire next year to make them worthwhile. I wanted to go around the holidays and then next summer after they get out of school again right before they expire. So we shall see how it all works out.

Mom and I were supposed to go during Food and Wine but I don't know if we can do that and then turn around and go back in June so we may just have to skip that this year, who knows. But I hate to just waste the AP's and not get some use out of them. So we shall see.

Anyway they wanted Shane to start on a night job tomorrow night but now he is doing something else but at least he will hopefully be back to work tomorrow.

And I made him call and get all our direct deposits changed today since he was off. He gets a check from the VA every month cuz he is a disabled vet so we got that switched over and then he called on the child support and would you believe his ex owes us almost 6000 in BACK support (obviously since the kid is 18 and doesn't even live here anymore) but she never paid from when she DID and it is in arrears. Well we had got a few payments back in Feb and March and then it just quit. Out of the blue I get 6.00!! She is supposed to pay almost 800 a month!! I was like WHAT??? Well would you believe that once the ongoing is over and you are paying back arrears you only have to pay at the rate of 26.00 a month and she broke it into 4 payments so we get 6.00 a week for 4 weeks. I was like you have GOT to be kidding me. First of all who would even break up 26.00!!! Second it would take 17 YEARS to pay it off at that rate and actually she will NEVER pay it off because each month she DOESN'T pay they charge her 40 in interest. So she is not even paying the interest!!!!

SO maddening esp when with him getting laid off every other day we could use the money!!! But at least he got the dd switched over. Now he just needs to get his vacation acct switched and we can get our old acct closed. It has been like that for almost a year with just those three dd's going into it and nothing else and I was glad he FINALLY did it!

Hopefully it got fixed, have to wait till we actually SEE a dd into our other acct and then I told him he needs to see about going back to court to adjust the payments!!!

So it has been an interesting day to say the least. He is taking the girls to swim tonight and I am not sure at this point WHAT is going to happen tomorrow. Not sure if he is working days, nights or at all????

Oh and the girls ARE going skating on Friday so that will be good. And I did get a hold of her and our end of the year party is def NOT happening next weekend just not sure when! All I can say is it BETTER happen soon! NOT happy about this!

Anyway off to have some din din.

Have a good evening everyone!

Congrats sara on your cousin! I know that is a HUGE weight off!! And I am glad that you guys get to see her!! Good news!!

That's great news Sarah! I'm glad that he is being charged and that she has been removed from their environment. She is really lucky to have you and your DBF. You guys are really sweet for being there for her throughout this whole ordeal and you sound like a real positive influence for her. :goodvibes I do hope that you take her to DL with you because I'm sure she will enjoy it and have a great time with you. :)

Kelly-Thanks for the compliment. :) I used to buy Juicy purses all the time. It was really crazy and I would even splurge on Coach ones. It's been about a year now but I stopped doing that and am really proud of myself. I thought it would be hard to control but it's not. I do love tote bags and purses but I really have fun "pimping" my own or finding cute and less expensive ones. :)

I still love bags and purses though....just like most women love shoes!

I'm headed out now. My close friend is coming over and we are going out tonight. Hope you have a great evening. :)

Sarah moto, I'm so glad things are working out for her during this stressful time. Sounds like she is in a good foster home and has your loving support to see her through. :goodvibes

I like the deals at Old Navy, they had a 30% off of everything sale a few weeks ago. I found a Christmas long sleeve tee in the clearance for 99 cents, they even took off the 30% :thumbsup2 We don't pay tax on clothing in MN, it was fun to walk out with a new shirt with just a bit of pocket change.. my bus fare cost more! :rotfl2:

I could have bought more but had just gone to the thrift store for 50% off. Hopefully they have more big clearance sales, there are a few shirts and skirts that I was drooling over.
Their sizing is most generous, XXL is like a women's plus sized 20 or maybe bigger? Some I swim in and need to size down, how long do they expect our arms to be?? while others are cut with a very long torso.. doesn't fit as nicely.

In the past, they had plus in store but now is only online. I didn't bother shopping because I figured it was long and skinny styles. I was pleasantly surprised when I found a bunch of Old Navy stuff at a rummage sale and it fit! :goodvibes Now I look for it in the XL section at my thrift store, hey Old Navy is cheap.. but thrift store is even cheaper. ;)

It was 90 today, now it's evening 8:30 pm and still 83 degrees and 72% humidity. It was over 80% humidity at the hottest part of the day, soupy! One neighbor said it feels like Florida, another said it was like Taiwan.
It was hot when we lived In Moreno Valley, but there is something different about a dry hot vs humid hot that drains all your energy.

Justin rode his bike to sectionals and back, got home just soaking wet. Both boys crashed and slept in the heat of the day. We pressured Justin to drink some electrolyte/ vitamin water as he looked washed out. :sad2: Thankfully the temps are to drop next week, he has mini camp (all day and evening practices for one week) and a parade next weekend. Then off to band camp to learn this year's show. The theme is the 7 deadly sins.. weird.

Morning and happy Thursday all!!

Well only a few more days before our big weekend. As I mentioned before it is def a mixed bag of emotions. It is ALWAYS exciting but such a LONG day and it is supposed to be really hot so that makes it even more miserable cuz there is really no where to escape the heat. Sooo I am hoping it goes well and the girls swim well and no one gets too overheated!!

I admit I can't wait to see how they do but will be glad when it is over LOL. As I mentioned before Katy will prob most def make Meet of Champs in the two relays but whether or not she makes it in any indiv events is totally up to her. I know she has it in her physically but mentally is another thing. There are some REALLY fast swimmers on some of these other teams and if she has even ONE bad swim early on it could mess with her head and she could have a bad day the rest of the day. I TRULY hope that doesn't happen because she has been doing SO well this year and really deserves this. She has fluctuated between the number one and number two swimmer in almost every stroke out of the 9-10 girls on our team and she has a lot of potential so I just hope that she doesn't let the pressure get to her. Shelby doesn't really have a chance but she is just happy that she has dropped some of her times so for her I just hope she has fun.

On our old team at least they let the kids get participation ribbons for those that didn't place in the top twenty but I don't like how this league does it. There are about 80 or more swimmers in each age group and they only give medals for the top 10 or 8 I am not sure. I know you have to finish in the top 10 to get to meet of champs but I think you can only medal in the top 8 I am not sure. Last year was the first year and the girls didn't get that close in anything. At the other league you could get actual ribbons down to 20th place and then got participation all the way to the end. Even for 80th place! To me it is a lot to ask these little kids to come out in that heat and swim their hearts out and get nothing for their effort. And esp if they get like 11th place and STILL get nothing. I feel bad for them.

Katy's last year on our old team she got ALL regular ribbons because she placed in the top 20 in everything. But again last year she was in the top 20 but not top 10 so no medals and no meet of champs. She only got to go at the last minute because one of the "good" swimmers dropped out.

At least this year she is going to get to go on her own merrits and she should at least medal in the relays!!

Anyway I just hope for her psyche that she does well because she takes it SO seriously! I just feel bad for poor shelby. She will never be as good as her sis but she is just having fun and doing her best and I think they all deserve something for their efforts but oh well.

Anyway tonight is their last official practice and they are having a little mini one tomorrow but we prob won't go since A we don't know if shane is working nights and he has to go do setup either way and B it is not worth driving all the way over there for only a half hour. So I think we are going to use tomorrow as a good relax day and they are going to have to go to bed early cuz we will be up SUPER early on Saturday!! Going to be a couple of LONG days! ;)

Tomorrow I have to go in to work and then we have the girl scout skating so they will have fun with that.

Then next week we may still go to the fair. The girls get in free on Tuesdays and mom said she would pay for her and I's ticket so we decided if we eat lunch BEFORE we get there we should be able to keep the cost down and the girls are REALLY looking forward to it. We couldn't go last year because it used to be during school and we just never had the time last year. So I hope it works out. I also finally have my follow up with my urologist on Tues so it will be interesting to see what he thinks and it is my dad's birthday that day as well so I think after the fair mom wants to go out to dinner to celebrate.

Then next Thursday night is our team party where the kids get their trophies and such and at this point I think we have next weekend completely free. We were "supposed" to have our girl scout party but that has been cancelled for the 2nd time so not sure WHEN that is going to happen but it will be nice to have a free weekend. Orig we were going to try and go out of town but prob not now since we are short on cash. Prob just hang around home and have a movie marathon or something.

And then the last weekend of the month is the Meet of Champs so that will be another long grueling weekend. Shane has his soccer clinic on Saturday so I am thinking we may send Katy with the coaches for Saturday and then we will go with her on Sunday. Not too sure yet how it is all going to work.

And then the VERY next Tues soccer starts. WHEW!! And guess what before you know it school is going to back in!!! I KNEW this summer was going to fly by. It seems like just yesterday school got out and sure as heck it is almost time to go back. Crazy!

Anywho hope everyone has a good day today and talk soon.

Good Morning Ladies,

Last night my close gf and I went out for dinner. I had a great time with her and she said that she can see that I'm happier and am making good progress. :goodvibes We tried this Mexican restaurant that I had "discovered" last week. It's so hidden and tucked away (we both love finding places like that). :) Here is a pic of the food I ordered:

It's carnitas with a cheese enchilada and rice and beans. It was really good and my friend ordered shredded pork with tortillas. Our meals also came with a really scrumptious meatball soup. I also was thrilled to find out that they opened a Yogurtland last week that was close to where we were eating. Now I don't have to drive far to eat Yogurtland anymore. :yay: I absolutely LOVE Yogurtland and I love getting their cookies & creme' or their dutch chocolate and adding captain crunch to it. For a while, they had a Twilight Chocolate that tasted good but it was seasonal. They constantly switch out flavors which is really neat and you can sample everything. Last year they had Tokidoki spoons which was really fun to get. :)

I hope you all have a great day. :cutie:

Glad you had fun Rochelle and that dinner looks YUM!!!

Guess who??????:cool1: Who missed me?? Now, dont all jump up and down at once..;):rotfl2: I dont have internet back, but I will soon... I promise! Staley! I seriously thought that you left your family for Daniel Jackson and decided to run off with him to some secluded and secret island! :rotfl:

I'm so proud of you for quitting smoking! :D That is so awesome and great! Keep it up! :thumbsup2 I'm glad that you and your kids and DH are all doing great! :) I swear, your kids are growing up so fast :cutie:

hubba hubba!!! Dont give me any ideas!!!:lmao:

Gosh Megan long time no see. I remember when you were pg with your kiddos. Holy cow! (from the diva thread ;) ) I can't believe your kiddos are that big already WOW!! Congrats on the smoking. My dh smokes off and on so I know how hard that is. Good work!!

And that's awesome that your dh kept his job. My dh gets laid off for days or weeks at a time. So not permanently but enough to make things really tight and ugly. I'm glad he managed to escape it and hope things stay stable for him. Know how scary that can be!!!!

Come visit us more often!! :)

Guess who??????:cool1: Who missed me?? Now, dont all jump up and down at once..;):rotfl2:

:cheer2:
:welcome: Welcome back to the pack, our long loved lost hyena.. sniffle sniffle. We missed you terribly!:hug::hug::hug::hug::hug:

Major.. hmmm? Not really, we have a few newbies in the "pack" and life has carried on per usual.. well a few stressing moments here and there.. the major one was Sarah's (moto) dbf's cousin.. but there was a recent update and things are better. :goodvibes
Oh yeah, happy new, Christina is back on our side of the world again. :thumbsup2

As for me, same old same old. Enjoying the summer off :cool1:

E is in process to reinstate SS benefits.. BLAH!

Lots of running around today to get papers and find out the district still has him listed as full time. SS wants his actual expected pay as a .2 , payroll says I don't know.. HR says ask payroll. :confused3 uhhh okay, guess we will wait until they enter next year numbers. :rolleyes1
GIANT stack of paper ready, more to come.

Talking kiddos?! OMGosh, they are growing much too fast! And Kindy to look forward to this year.. :woohoo: It's exciting to hear how they are growing and wow you have a reader! And SIL added oto the mix soon.. that's just so cool!

Glad Frelan missed the layoffs.. whew! Is it still a possibility?? :worried:
I hope for all the best for you and your family.

Vacation? hmm, not yet. But ask me again when I'm buried under snow, haven't seen the sun for the last 12 weeks and I can no longer feel my nose and toes. :lmao:
I decided my sis needs a real vacation, the poor gal has way too much on her plate and just needs to GO somewhere free of kidlets, therapists, schools, paperwork and grumbly husband. But I don't know where as she is not a Disney nut and she looked at me as if I had grown horns when I suggested a girl weekend in Vegas

"why would I do that?"

Tsk tsk.. the question is Why Not?! Have an adventure!

Morning all and happy Friday!!

Whew another week gone. Man these weeks are just flying!!!

Yesterday we barely left the house. It was 103 here so when it is like that and if I don't HAVE to go out I don't ;)

Mom is STILL on this kick of doing something in November and when I told her I just didn't think it was right to do the cruise now she is back to DW! And that is the crazy part. ALL of this started because she has 2 weeks on her timeshare that she has to use and we started talking about this like 2 years ago trying to decide where to go or what to do so they didn't get wasted. She is not NEARLY as big of a Disney nut as I am and didn't want to go back to DW. We usually go every 3 years if and when we even have a trip planned but when we went last in 09 that was the first time in 3 trips that we didn't start planning another one after we got home. We always knew we wanted to go back eventually but had no real plans and DID want to do some other things but the economy and everything happened so we just didn't have anything planned.

SOOOO when I told her I didn't think a cruise was a good idea she is now going back to using her timeshare. I started looking and they are doing the free dinning through december so I told her we should see about doing a package with that. It would maybe be even cheaper than using the timeshare. So we shall see. Don't get me wrong I would LOVE to go but I still think we should just blow it off for this year but she is bound and determined so we shall see.

Anyway that is what I spent most of my day doing yesterday was checking airfares and when stuff is happening etc etc.

It was fun to dream and sort of plan even if it doesn't happen ;)

Now today I am off to work and then to the skating. Hopefully the girls have fun!!

They are officially done with practice so now we just have to get through Champs this weekend and we SHOULD have the next two weeks off until Meet of Champs but not sure if they will want Katy to still practice or not. She has never made it on her own before so I am not sure of the procedure.

Anyway that's pretty much it for me for now. Hope you all have a GREAT day and have something fun planned for your weekend and more importantly something "cool" ;)

OOOH guess what tomorrow is?? i'll give you a hint--look below!! :yay:

kel a timeshare, that would be nice, maybe on a island somewhere.... or in miami.. your mom is lucky to have a timeshare and it sounds like it would be cool if she used it more, cruises can be expensive depending on where you want to go- i did the mexican rivera cruise to cabo, mazatlan, and puerto vallarta--um it wasn't cheap but it wasn't expensive either! besides, all the food is included and omg BUFFETS!!!!!!! oh we had a late night cheese buffet, it was AWESOME!!!! i had like cheese overload- i was in heaven(cheese lover!). anyhow so i am really excited to see what these 55th anninversary/disneyand bday cakes look like, i want to get a couple when i go tomorrow, of course in my hands those cakes won't live to see the light of day!:) anyhow it's pretty hot today, but i love the heat, but i don't love wearing shoes! i have to wear shoes to work--no flip flops! but ha ha i didn't wear socks! and i wore my new tshirt i got at snorgtees.com, now that i can fit a respectable mediums in womans i have been buying all sorts of things, it soo exciting to be back at a nice low weight of 129!!!!!!! i started at 155, that was 4 months ago, i have been bustin it to get the poundge off, an now it really is starting to pay off--and i feel great! so i hope everyone is going to have a nice sizzling friday! :)
