Chatterbox Thread-Cmon in and Jabber! Everyone is Welcome!

Morning and happy Thursday everyone.

You are more than welcome sara! ;)

I hope you get your tag!! ;) And I hope we see you around more often. If you like feel free to tell us more about yourself. I for example am 42 (43 next week) am married and have 2 daughters 10 and 9 and live in Northern CA. I work part time and am a HUGE Disneyaholic. I have been an AP holder since 06 and have also gone on 2 trips with the Divas on these boards (that is a group of other gals that love Disney). It was a LOT of fun.

I have also been to Disney World 3 times and hope to get back there again soon.

My next Disney LAND trip is in June with my mom and my girls. I can't wait!! :)

Anyway that's me. As I said if you feel comfortable you are more than welcome to share a little about yourself.

Anywho yesterday I finished watching the movies I had rented. Legion was weird like I thought but Edge of Darkness was really good. That is that Mel Gibson thriller. Shane and the girls went to swim but I stayed home to clean up the dinner stuff. Last night we finished watching the movie and by the time it was over we were taping idol so I just went to bed. I heard who won and I am pretty happy with it. I will prob watch the show today when I get home from work but I am glad with who won!

I am off to work today to get everything wrapped up before tomorrow and a friend of ours is picking the girls up from school today and taking them to her house to play and then Katy and her daughter have a private lesson to hone some of their swim skills before the next meet. Then I am not sure what they will do between that and reg swim practice but then tonight we are going to celebrate Shane's birthday with cake and some cards and I am going to watch the last Fast Forward. I am still so bummed they cancelled it. The fans have a petition in to try and bring it back on another channel but I think it is doomed. I lost like 3 of my fav shows this season :( Tv next year is not looking too promising. Looks like I might be on here more LOL.

Anyway then tomorrow is my surgery and I am ready to get it over with but anxious. I have had several surgeries so I know what to expect but still I always get a little nervous.

Anyway that's bout it for me. Hope you all have a good day and are looking forward to a fun weekend!!

Kelly, Hope you have a lovely evening with family tonight and I know Friday will go very well. Wish you speedy recovery so you can enjoy your family and upcoming trip. :flower3:

I guess ds is working on his own bad boy image.
He has in school suspension today.:sad2:

He told us about everything and though it was an innocent mistake, I agree with getting the one day. The dean told ds he would call us and never did, no note sent. If ds hadn't been truthful we never would have known. What the heck is going on over there?? :confused3

He had let someone use his PSP at a friend's house. Unknown to ds, the person downloaded a  video. The PSP is new to ds he wasn't quite sure how everything worked. He brought it to school (1st mistake), played with it in the PE locker room (2nd mistake) and hit the video to play, (the final nail in his OMG what were you thinking????!!)
gathering a crowd of onlookers watching for a minute until ds realized what it was "eeek!" and turned it off.

This was 3 weeks ago.

Fast forward to now, dealing with the student he turned in.. yep, in retaliation the student turned ds into the police liaison. Isn't middle school just a big ball of fun times?? Not sure if I want to laugh or cry.. laughing feels better so there it is.. my very nice young man has become "that bad kid". :headache: :upsidedow :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Just 11 more days of school, it can't get worse .. right?? please?? tell me it can't get worse????! :faint:

Thanks B. I am trying to stay calm but I just got a call from the surgery scheduler asking me if I had done my labs. I was like uh YEAH. When I FIRST went in over a month ago for my initial consult she had me do bloodwork and then when I went in for my pre-op last week she asked me AGAIN if I had done any labs and I said yes and that was the end of it. Now TODAY I get a call the day BEFORE my surgery and the lady says I was supposed to do MORE labs. I was like and you are telling me this NOW!! I can't do it TODAY as I am working! Why in the hell did they just NOW figure this out! GRRRRR! Then she asks me if I had my EKG. I was like do you even HAVE my file! SHEESH! All I can say is after ALL this they BETTER not cancel my surgery because of their incompetence cuz I will be livid. I have WAY too much going on in the next few weeks with the end of school and our trip! UGH!

As far as your son is concerned I feel bad for him cuz he didn't know what that other kid did and suspending him for what someone else did seems lame BUT I guess he shouldn't have taken the psp to school and I guess he learned his lesson on that one. We used to get after stepdaughter ALL the time about that. Simply because we worried about it getting stolen etc. But I hate to say it CAN and does get worse but your boy sounds like a pretty good kid so hopefully he will follow the right path and you won't have anything to worry about. He seems like he has a pretty good head on his shoulders and you should be proud of the actions he has taken. I wouldn't worry too much! :)

I am sitting here at work waiting for mom to get here to go over everything. SUCKS when the company is so far in the hole that I can't do my job till I figure out what we have to move around to pay the bills. BLEH. It has been like this for about 3 years and it is SO stressful working like this. I wish this economy would finally get a little better but I fear for our company it may be too far gone :(

Anyway have a good one and thanks so much for the well wishes!! :)

might as well tell about me! that's the only way your going to get to know me!:)

well let's see i just joined this dicsussion board, but i am also a member of 2 others, not with same screen name. my name is sara. i am 5 foot nothing, 136 lbs, blonde-ish(well a weave with brown) short spiking hair in the back and smooth and to the side usually pinned in the front, i call it the "rock concert in the back and business meeting in the front" . umm i have postd 2 threads since i started here, one on ADD in adults in the disabilities forum on what disney can do for me, and one thread on what you like to eat when you go to DLR. I do have ADD, hence the disabilties thread, i also have learnng disabitiles that range in spelling, mixing words up and not being able to do anything that invlovles math!! i also have aspergers syndrome-it's a high functioning autism.
;)
umm i love disneyland, oh yeah i am 30, not married-no kids. I have have an PAP, i freaquent the parks here in california alot, it keeps me grounded! I love the bright colors that disney puts in the parks! anyhow umm i have a dog, i do photography in my spare time- i am not a proffesional, but i self taught myself, and i only do black and white. i posted already two of my photos of disneyland stuff in the members gallery here on disboards. i have many, many more even photos of disneyland cats. i will post one here when i get a chance!:)

i think that is it.. ohh wait i work, i work for a finance company(kinda ironic since i can't add worth a dime!!) but i do the insurance part so i don't need to use my not so great math skills!! lol i also can't spell, i don't know the differnce between where and were and there and thier.. soo please if you want u can help me with that! cause it bugs people that i get it wrong... :)

ohh and as far as disney trips.. well there not trips for me since i live 20 mins away from the parks it's more like a regular day for me, i tend to go between 5 and 9 times a month! i deffinantly use my pass! :)

anyhow that is it!! sorry it's soo long.:yay:

:) Welcome Sara / funball

I'm Bernice. Domestic Diva, occasional PCA, home dialysis tech to my dh and mom to two young men who are giving me gray hair! I live in MN, the land of lakes, mosquitoes and wild weather ranging from hot one day to snow the next in MAY! May people!! We had snow in MAY! Not that it will snow now, it's hot and humid.. UGH!

Don't worry about the spelling, I have this strange disconnect between my brain and my fingers. Only thru use of auto-check am I able to see my odd spellings to correct before I post. Ask some of the regular on this thread and they will tell you all sorts of odd things I have said in the past until I started with the auto check. Oh wait, I still say odd things. :lmao:

You're in a good place.
My dh and possible ds are ADD and they both have learning issues.. I had speech issues, still do if I talk too fast.

I do some respite care of my young nephews, both on the spectrum. Both totally different in need and abilities. It's interesting to me that everyone is lumped together with one label when there are so many unique characteristics of each person. Unique abilities, unique views on the world.

I try to go to Disneyland once a year, thank goodness for tax refunds! Lived in California for one year, loved going to DL just about every weekend. But my family was terribly unhappy, my dh was terribly depressed and sickly .. we moved back to MN.. back to the same apartment building. Everyone is much happier, much more broke too but hey isn't everyone right now? To keep our expenses minimal, I'm a power coupon user and deal finder. I cry when we have to pay full price for anything.

soo uhh yeah.. I wrote a mini book.. but that's me. :thumbsup2

It is funny how in a way that so many people are like me in the disabilities range.. but yet we each have our own thing going on, like I can’t do math and what not, but for someone else it could be writing.. etc. I don’t normally go around telling people that I got aspergers and what not, they tend to not take it very well and don’t understand it, but you all seemed like a crowd that would understand plus you all wanted to know my stats so I out all the info on me as I could! :)

As I mentioned I live in California, I got the ap, pap actually it just made sense. I was going to the park 5 times a month, spending the full price etc , parking also! But it just made more sense that as the Disney nerd that I am to get a PASS! And oh boy does it make a difference. I am all about those discounts, and I coupon shop also!! I love coupons too! And then since I got the pass I frequent the park WAY to much then a normal person would, in fact my brothers( I got 4) all tell me a nerd and that there is way more to life then Disneyland, but Disneyland keeps me in check and grounded, and plus with my disabilities since I been going to Disneyland they have seen a change in me(for the good).:cutie:

I also had problems talking!!.. Yeah I didn’t start to talk till I was 2 ½. That’s also a main cause why we knew I was “different”. a lot of kids don’t talk till they are 2 and don’t start to make sounds and what not till 1.. Well I was none of those.. I also volunteer at the local animal shelter on Sundays, I work with the cats even though I am deathly allergic to them—they are just soo freakin cute-- until my eyes start to swell and I start itching!! lol:rotfl:I also just had a car accident 3 weeks ago,my car was totalled but i got a new car and i named it "maribel".i think i am the only nut on the planet that does that

And I like your palm tree avatar!! ;)

Well that's sucky Kelly, hope the doctor's office straightens it all out with the labs. The last few times dh went in for procedures they drew labs when he arrived at check in. No one told us he needed to do labs, we prefer to draw our own thru his access because he doesn't have many good veins left on his non-access arm. Some are just the basic protime / blood clotting and hemoglobin so they have a baseline. Those are quick turn around results so I don't see the need to go in advance for those.

We've been given an appt time, show up and scolded for being late and had listed dh as a "no show".. uhhh what??

The time we were given was the actual procedure time, but the scheduling nurse failed to calculate prep time when she told us. It was all odd considering we sat in the lab for 30 minutes while they dickered about if he needed a protime or not. Did no one check him in with the radiology procedure room?? :confused3

And unless you have a heart issue (or maybe if you were over 50) or if it's a major surgery (not outpatient). I don't see the need for an EKG? The only baseline done for dh was when he had his transplant. :confused3

Yeah, screwy! Could you have them drawn at the hospital after work? Most hospital labs are open late hours for outpatient draws. Much faster after hours than going to the doctor office.. better "sticks" too.:thumbsup2

Oh you are not going to believe this one. GRRRR. I knew I was going to get a call today from the surgery center confirming everything but of course they called when I went to pick up the girls and I left my phone at home. This day is getting worse by the minute I tell you!!!

First of all I wondered what in the heck Shane was thinking setting this whole special practice up for Katy when it was set to storm and sure enough right as I was leaving work the heavens broke open and it started pouring and thunder and lightening and on and on. So I called him and said what do you think and sure enough he texts me back and says pick them off the lesson is cancelled. SOOO I run up there and get soaked and sure as heck the hospital calls while I am there.

Then they leave a message saying see you tomorrow at 1!!! I was like WHA???? My surgery was scheduled for 8!!!! So I call them back and say I don't think so. I have my paperwork RIGHT here that says 8! So they say well your Doc's office scheduled it not us. So I call THEIR office and they say well we had to reschedule it cuz the doc couldn't do it that early. More like she probably didn't want to roll her butt out of bed!!!

I was livid. I was like did you think about telling ME this!!! I mean I specifically TOLD them that I can't do late surgeries because of my severe migraines and requested an early morning surgery. And I KNOW that they do them because my last TWO were early. In fact my bladder surgery was at 5:45 A.M.!!! I was like and you tell me I have to have a ride well my ride is scheduled at 8 NOT 1! People can't change their plans at the last minute like that!!!!

Then they said I can't have any of my meds but I was always told in the past I could have SOME and she says well the anesthesiologist will call you later. I am just so disgusted right now and so help me they BETTER not tell me the labs are no good when I get there tomorrow. So far they haven't said anything so either they are accepting the ones from before or they might do them when I get there who knows. She said all they needed was a CBC and a UA and possibly something else but I am not sure. That was all I heard on the phone. I know I did a CBC last month and don't know how much that changes but the last few I had the numbers were all just fine! And I KNOW I don't have a UTI! Plus I know you can do a urine culture right then and there so that is no big deal.

Anyway I am just so disgusted cuz these things make me nervous enough as it is and then to have to add all this crap on top of it GRRRRR!

Ok, off my soap box! Back to our regularly scheduled programing.

Thanks for listening or reading or whatever! ;)

I bet you can do it! Get out there and build up your miles of endurance.
Even if you don't finish, it's not the end of the world. It takes courage to even try to tackle something like that.. heck I'm happy I can walk to the thrift store and back (about 4 miles) and that's with stopping halfway to rest and splurge on an iced mocha.

Go for it!

I love my Poly, she's a polydatcyl cat. She has extra toes so it looks like she has mitten hands. :upsidedow

Not so strange. I vaguely recall Alison naming her cruiser bike, I'm sure she renamed it into "evil spawn of the devil" after it fell apart and she landed in the hospital-- ouch!

Thanks! I like it too. Little bit of whimsy makes me smile.

Go for it!

I started my training program on Monday. Today is Week 1 Day 4 which is a 3mile run and strength training. Sunday I bump up to 4 miles.

I'm excited and nervous. My goal is to not come in last and to not get picked up by the sweepers (the vans that take you to the end if you don't keep a 16 minute per mile pace). :rotfl:

I was thinking (just thinking becasue I don't think I'd ever really do it) of getting a small 13.1 in Disney font tattooed on my inner wrist when (if) I finish. With the point being a samll Mickey Head. I've always wanted a tattoo but I haven't found anything yet that I want on me forever. Plus I am a wuss with pain and I'm afraid they would start the tattoo and I'd end up with half of something becasue I couldn't bear the pain. :rotfl:

Anyone ever tell ya you got a cool name? ;)

Anyone ever tell ya you got a cool name? ;)

are you reffering to my screen name? or my real name? i am hoping it's my screen name.. i didn't want to use the same one i have for my other forums, i wanted something new and cool,so i did "funball" well and i am sometimes a ball of fun! :rotfl:

yeah i called my honda accord the evil spawn of the devil after i could not stop and i slide right into the back of a mini van and popped all of my air bags, and my windshield cracked, and the front was just demolished ..yeah, not happy that a honda accords brakes did not stop! LOL.

but thank gosh i have a toyota now!

Dh finally was convinced to use facebook. I found all of his co -worker buddies and friended them for him. It's funny how much he screwed up at first trying to figure out how to post.. he uses the mobile version only, which is slightly different. He has a wicked dirty mind.. always wants to post little jabs, jokes.. but then he remembers the boys can read those too. Forcing a little filter between mind and typing fingers. :lmao: This will be good for him. :thumbsup2

I think my DH is very close to setting up a FB page. I keep telling him what all of our friends and family are up to and I think he's starting to feel left out.:lmao: Hey! Maybe our DH's can become FB friends.:thumbsup2

Does free food taste better?
Heck yeah!

:rotfl:

Why yes it does taste better. Yesterday I had coupons for Fred Meyer's and got a free chef salad, fruit cup and then had a catalina for a free fun size Dreyers Double Fudge Brownie ice cream! It was definitely a tasty free lunch.:thumbsup2

:faint:

I forgot how fun middle school was...we had a running fight with the cafeteria lady that had it out for DD. Haven't had to deal with the middle school for 4 years now...but that will change this fall when DS starts...so not looking forward to it!

Here's the route I'm be running in Sept. 13.1 miles...what was I thinking???:sad2:

You were thinking the same thing I was thinking every time I get some brilliant idea to overdo it!:lmao:

I love my Poly, she's a polydatcyl cat. She has extra toes so it looks like she has mitten hands. :upsidedow

Not so strange. I vaguely recall Alison naming her cruiser bike, I'm sure she renamed it into "evil spawn of the devil" after it fell apart and she landed in the hospital-- ouch!

Thanks! I like it too. Little bit of whimsy makes me smile.

Actually my innocent looking pink bike was named Roxie. But she was truly the evil spawn of the devil in disguise.

My car does have a name. I have a Ford Excursion, it is named Bea. Short for Behmouth!:rotfl2: Oddly enough everybody in my family and all of my friends call her Bea also.:lmao:

Kelly, thinking of you tonight and hope all goes well with your surgery. Hopefully they can get their act together and things go smoothly. Let us know how things go as soon as you can. :grouphug:

Welcome and nice to meet you Funball. Glad you could join our chatty little group. So here's my bio...

I BELIEVE I'm 29 (although my birth certificate and I are not in total agreement on that little issue).:lmao:

I'm the mother of two children, DD is 18 and DS is 11 (I believe they may have been switched at birth because there is no way my true children could be so obnoxious!)

I like to clip coupons and toe nails (Funny G. is probably spitting her soda out at the computer screen as she reads this).

I lost my breast to cancer about 4 years ago (and I still can't find the darned thing).

I totally sucked at math in school and barely passed 5th grade math (and now I'm an accountant).

I have no pets (yet somehow each day I seem to be responsible for feeding a dog, 2 cats and a tankful of fish).

Oh yes and most importantly I am a smart aleck!:thumbsup2:rotfl2:

Morning all. I am about to take off here in a few but wanted to say hey before I left. Well after going back and forth between the surgery center, my OB and my pc doc I FINALLY got them to see the light and they at first rescheduled my surgery to 10:30 and then magically had a "cancellation" and now it is back on for 8! Isn't that amazing. So hopefully when I get there nothing else goes wrong. I went to bed on the early side but didn't sleep very well and woke up with a sore throat and stuffed up nose so hoping that is not an indication of how the rest is going to go LOL. But anyway I am not sure how I am going to feel but will check in when I feel up to it.

Alison thanks for the well wishes and I have to say you crack me up. I loved your intro and there is truly something to say for laughter. LOVE it! You really made me laugh and that truly is the best medicine! ;)

Sara I think you will do great on your marathon. I know I sure as heck couldn't do it. I can't even jog because I have really bad knees but we are thinking about doing it next year and just doing the family 5k fun run and just walking it. Just for the fun of it. I admire people that can actually do the marathon! I know you will do great and you will be so proud of yourself for accomplishing it!!

If I am not on later I hope you guys have a GREAT weekend and hope you have something fun planned!

Talk to you soon and take care! :)

:rotfl:
13.jpg

That would be cool! The part of my tattoo that hurt the most was when she was closer to my ankle. I would think it would hurt more over bony surfaces, pick a fleshier spot and it's not bad.

I compared the sensation to getting a burn when you take something out of the oven. A good artist makes quick , steady strokes.. it's like oW-WWWWWW oW- wwWWW breathe breathe, relax while the artist wipes the area and refills on ink.

Smaller artwork and less color would be less intense. My outline was annoying like mosquito bites, coloring the wings and adding dots of color OVER the white-- that was the "You B! OW!" part .

I like to clip coupons and toe nails (Funny G. is probably spitting her soda out at the computer screen as she reads this).

It's pop not soda...:snooty:
I should just keep a bottle of windex and a squeegee next to my computer, it would make clean up so much easier.

I FINALLY got them to see the light and they at first rescheduled my surgery to 10:30 and then magically had a "cancellation" and now it is back on for 8! Isn't that amazing.

Talk to you soon and take care! :)

Awesome!
We'll keep the light on for ya! :thumbsup2
