That is a great idea. Oh, and at our old daycare, they had us bring in a family photo to post in their cubby so the child could see it throughout the day. Even if they can't post it at Jake's school, maybe you could give him little photo to keep in his jacket pocket or something?

What are jackets?

I wonder how Mikalah will do when we put her in school... Alex was fine, but he is such an outgoing kid.. He was like, peace out homeskillet.. I MIGHT come home when its over. :lmao: :lmao:

Mikalah tends to be the same way.. Heck, she was always trying to sneak onto the bus with Alex to go to school. :lmao: She gets more mad when we try to pick her up from the nursery at the Y... but she isnt really fond of swimming class. She doesnt like her teacher... Because we all know how menacing 15yo girls are. :confused3

There is one another thing. I don't know how the teacher would feel about it, but DS7 was very comfortable about the idea of starting kindergarten. He was very popular in preschool, and one of the leaders in his class. And when I spoke to him about kindergarten, and how it wasn't going to be like daycare-school, where he knew everyone because he'd been there since he was 3 months old... He said, "Oh, I'll know everyone, Mama."

I asked how, and he said simply, "Well, I'll ask them their names, and when they tell me I'll know them." :confused3

So imagine my total surprise when he suddenly turns SHY in his kindergarten class!

Since his birthday is in August, I always ask his teacher if I can bring cupcakes to class that first week, and I think especially in his kindergarten class it was a great ice breaker for him.

Maybe Jake could bring in some kind of treat (popsicles or grapes, whatever) to share one day?

yea well you listen to that cd over and over and over...:rotfl: there were 2 or 3 songs she loved one was about going down to the river....i had to hide it from her for a while...geeezzzzzzz:rotfl2:

Hubby had an infatuation with Brother where art thou when it first came out... we played it on every car trip until I was sick of it.. buried it in the CD holder in the car.. no dear, no clue where it went :rolleyes1

Here's a classic book that K teachers use in the first days of school

The Kissing Hand
http://www.amazon.com/Kissing-Hand-Audrey-Penn/dp/0878685855

It would tie in with Gina's suggestion of a blanket or some small cuddly to tuck in a pocket.

We have that book! They use it in kindergarten here too.

That might not be too bad of an idea.

Gasp.. You don't like Jumanji?

But it's good-- a little scary for the kidlets in some parts.. heck scary for me too! The giant insects where overkill for me.

We didn't like Zathura-- it was just "meh" as you say.
There was something missing in what could have been a very good fantasy movie.
