We were at Mcdonalds earlier with MIL and seen a father walking behind his to sons with their food..they would open their mouth when they wanted a bite and he would put food in them...

i don't get it..he didn't get a table he just let them play while he was behind them following them as they played with their food...

there is NO WAY I would be doing that ..they can sit and eat then go play..but to follow them with their food and wait on them plus put the food in their mouths??? WOW was all we could say...even our kids said "I can't believe he is doing that"...

Were they toddlers?

It does sound rather strange to me.. Eat first - play later - OR play first - eat later..:confused3

They looked to be about 3-5 but I would also think they might choke while playing ,...but at the same time why would you feed a kid like a baby and then let them play like a kid??? I guess it irritates me to see parents wait on their kids hand and foot like that ..to me it says spoiled rotten and I make my parents do what I want when I want...

If the kid is hungry, he will eat. Sit down, drink your mocha and let the kid play :lmao:. We would plan our Playland trips so we would get there about 1/2 hour before the kids normally ate, let them play for a while, got food, had them eat, let them play again. Worked just fine and none of the kids keeled over from starvation.

LOL that is what we did with my nephew which is why we were there..his mom is preggo and having a really bad time with it ..her doc said she couldn't even go 2 hours to see her mom on christmas ..anyway he played till he got hungry while we all sat there and even ate before he wanted to eat. MIL went and got him some food and than he ate ..she didn't follow him with his food and feed it to him while he played...

Certainly doesn't sound very sanitary - for the kids or the play area - and you make a good point about choking..

I can only speak for myself.. My kids would sit down and eat (without me "feeding" them) and then play.. :confused3

me too..like I said my kids even said something to me about it ..they thought it was stupid...have kid sit and eat then play or play then eat ..and they would feed themselves plenty old enough..heck my nephew is 2 and he fed himself in fact he wouldn't let us if we wanted too..LOL

Maybe they're really lousy eaters and he thought that would be a good way to get some food in them while they were busy doing something else. :confused3

The fact that the parent would chase them around a restaurant with food would probably be the cause of them being lousy eaters. Again, if a kid is hungry, they will eat.

I have to agree with this if the kid is hungry they will eat ...I mean if you are hungry don;t you eat? if you are not you don;t right? not with the case of my stepson he would go all day if you would let him not eating HOWEVER if you take him to the table and sit him down and tell him it is time to eat he will eat...but the key here is sitting them down at the table and telling them it is time to eat..why would you ever chase your kid with food while they are playing? that is something I'll never understand ..if they are a lousy eater than sit them down and tell them it is time to eat..or just not go to places with a play place to eat...not saying they can't go but maybe a place like that is not a good place for their kid to eat (the environment) take them their to play, get their food to go and then have them eat...

And I'm inclined to agree with you. If a kid is hungry they will eat and pushing food on them only leads to food issues, but I'm not every parent and there are a lot of them who freak out if their kid hasn't eaten an amount of food which they deem appropriate. So they come up with all sorts of creative ways of getting the food in the belly KWIM?

Not my kid so if it works for that parent, more power to them.

I work at a daycare and you wouldn't believe how much some people baby their kids. :confused3 We have a 3 year old that doesn't want to eat real food and the parents want the school to give her baby food if she wants it. Her parents NEVER tell her no, she is such a brat and they can't understand why...

I agree.

I have 4 younger sibs, all of whom were "bad" eaters. Trust me...not ALL kids will eat when hungry. They certainly didn't! My brother was the biggest about it.

We don't go to McD's, or any other place like that, but just at home every so often, and sometimes at Disney, I have probably done something like that with DS. Sometimes I'm in a rush, he's not focusing on food, he needs to eat at that point, and I don't care one little bit if someone else might not approve. He's a "good" eater in general, but sometimes he's just too busy doing other stuff. Of course, besides being vegetarian, that's one HUGE reason why I would not take him to a place with a play area right there in his face. That would just be spelling disaster! (and is a big reason DS barely eats while at Disneyland..too much fun stuff to do!)

Nice-call kids at your daycare brats. I am sure the parents feel they have to make up for the time they put her in your hands.

I had a friend that did in-home daycare for many years. She had one family where the parents wouldn't let their son feed himself because he would get messy. He was 4 and they were STILL spoon feeding him :scared1:. At daycare he ate on his own but not at home. At first the mom would come over at lunch and feed the kid so his clothes wouldn't get dirty but my friend put a stop to that rather quickly.

So what. I have a lousy eater, but he has table manners and that means he doesn't run around eating, he sits for his meals because its time to eat not play. I don't want to judge this parent but follwing your kids around a restaurant and hand feeding them is ridiculous.
