Chase Sapphire credit card - use for bonus points, but then?

I just signed up for the Chase Sapphire credit card and will get 40,000 bonus points for spending $3000 the first three months.

The annual fee is waived for the first year but then it is $95.

For those of you who have this card, have you kept using it after the first three months? What have been the advantages for using it once you have gotten the bonus points?

we use it for the double points for dining. We eat out *a lot* might as well earn points for it. Also anywhere that doesnt take Amex which is our primary card to earn at least 1 point per dollar.

Oh and DH loves the cool factor when he hands the card over

I got mine about a year ago and was considering just canceling after the first few months but have decided to keep it.

I use it for dining which is 2x the rewards but most of my rewards came from travel.

We booked a cruise on royal caribbean over the summer. My favorite part is the 20% off travel booked using rewards points. When we booked our cruise we had about $600 worth of rewards so we had to call to book the travel through Chase Saphirre to get the additional 20% which gave us an additional $120 towards the cruise, it was also during a promotional where cruises where an additional 5x rewards so we paid around 4000 for our cruise and got an additional 120 off plus about 5% (200?) back the next statement in our rewards account.
-I believe you can get the 20% extra towards rental car, hotels and airfare booking online but we had to call for the cruise for the promotion


I also have a Chase bank account which gives you a little extra each month but I forget the amount.

I just paid my first annual fee but I added up all the rewards I have gotten each month and it has been well worth it. I will re-evaluate each year but it seems as though if you travel each year it will be a great card to have.


I also love that I could easily transfer my rewards 1:1 to Southwest Rapid Rewards because for our last vacation I was a little short on points and instead of having to buy more to book my flight .

Anyway- I LOVE my card and dumped my Chase Southwest card to keep this one instead.

DH and I both did this in the Fall. We will be canceling our cards this summer.

We have no need for the card. It won't benefit us. We don't go on cruises, our Disney vacations are not booked with a CC as we go with a group for the huge discounts and have to pay cash/check.

Our AmEx gives us 2% back on EVERY purchase so no need for another 2% back card.

Annual fee? My Sapphire card is a few years old now and I've never paid an annual fee. I'd cancel it also.

I LOVE my sapphire card. They have the easiest points of anyone (except maybe Southwest ). Anytime you want you can redeem your points for a personal check. If you have 1567 points they send you a check for 15.67. No wasted points! When I signed up I thought I would cancel after the intro also but it has now become my everyday card. When it was close to a year I called and asked to switch to the no annual fee version and they did it no problem.

I closed mine after 5 months. There is no benefit for me paying $95 fee beyond the bonus points I got (I transferred them to Southwest and free flights for our upcoming cruise). I use other cards like USAir to get miles for our trips.
