I've decided to apply for a Chase Freedom credit card. I plan on using it for the items I purchase that have the 5% back at that time and then continue using my disney visa for the other purchases that are only 1%. I considered upgrading to the new disney visa, but decided to go with a cash back card so I can choose where to spend the money, and not have the annual fee. I went online to apply and saw the bank shows $100 back after spending $500 in the first 3 months, but I noticed some other credit card websites offered $200 back after applying through their website. I'm not familiar with these websites does anyone know of the $200 back offer and a reputable website that offers it? Thanks, Linda:)

i went thru one of the sites offering $200 cash back - not sure which one - just googled $200 cash back for Chase Freedom! Already have the card

I have had a Chase Freedom card for a couple of years now, but when I saw the $200. cash back offer from a few months ago, I had my DH apply for it. He was accepted immediately and I was thrilled. I love the 5% quarterly bonuses they offer.

Since then, his card has been compromised twice - in the 3 months he has had it. The second time - only 1 week after activating the new card they sent out after the original card [actually the credit card number since the card has never left his possession] was used fraudulently. We wanted to cancel the card after the second fraud, but were told we would lose the over $200. he had already earned in rewards.

I guess the only reason I am mentioning this is for you to be prepared in case this happens to you. I seriously think it's an internal problem at Chase. Yes, they have been wonderful about it and caught the fraud almost as quick as I did on both occasions; I tend to check our accounts daily. BUT, I know the hit to his credit score for two opens and two closed credit card accounts in just a few weeks, has lowered his score a little. :headache:

Strangely enough, as long as I have been with them it has NEVER happened to me . . . yet.

I JUST applied for a Freedom Card last week and received it a couple days ago but the offer I applied through was only $100 cash back offer! :headache: I originally saw a $50 offer, so I was excited about the $100 offer, but now I feel like I missed out on another $100. :(

I just called Chase and they said they would send a request to "marketing" for the extra $100, but not guarantees, especially since I haven't met the $500 minimum purchase yet.

Did your DH apply through Chase or through another website?
Thanks, Linda :)

I got the $300 offer a few weeks ago for DH. Our $300 has already been posted.

I am very glad as I have two Disney Visas and did NOT get the $200 offer on them.

I also saw the offer for $300 but it said it expired in December I believe, is that true? Linda :)

I actually don't remember. I know I googled trying to find the $200. offer and did. I think it was one of those websites that show you where the best credit card offers are. Then I googled it to make sure it was a legit site. : )
