Chase Freedom 5% cash back on groceries

5% on groceries this quarter, excludes Walmart and Target.

There has not been 5% cash back on groceries for a couple of years now from Chase Freedom. Discover used to had it one quarter/year too but not the last 2 years; at least for my card.

I'll be buying gift cards at Kroger today using my Chase Freedom (Disney, Amazon, and Target). I also have 6% back from Amex up to $6K but I'm confused about when my earning period starts/ends because I'm right near the max.

I also will put money on a Kroger gift card and use it at the Kroger gas station to save 5% on gas.

Yippee! Our little town only has WalMart and a Lowes Pay & Save for groceries (I know Walmart isn't included and can't imagine Lowes would be) BUT we are getting a Albertsons this month..whoop!

As I understand the Amex Everyday card, it is per calendar year, so you are starting a new $6000 today. DH and I each have this card and maxed out both last year ($12000). We both have the Chase Freedom as well and I think I will max out ($3000) these first before I start using Amex this year.

the 5% cash back on Chase Freedom for groceries is only Jan - March so you would need to spend the $3000 in 3 months. that's a lot of groceries!

Well, it covers gift cards and in my case gas too. My grocery budget is $400 or so/month. $100 for gas (down from $150). Then I need new tires--$600 or so and I can get Sears gift cards. I need another $600 in Disney gift cards for spring break. So it can be done. But I think I only have $1,500.

very creative, I need to think outside the box I guess. I will look for gift cards at Stop and Shop to see what I can buy with my Freedom card that will count towards groceries!

My kroger has a gas station so I load a kroger gift card (in the grocery store) and use it to pay for gas. Other advantage is I don't have to put in a zip code that way. I hate doing that in the winter (I'm a wimp).

Oh good to know! I know I'm signed up but haven't clicked into my head where to get my points- but I just signed up for the Freedom card and have been waiting til today to use it.
So I'll use the Freedom card on Groceries and my Discover card for Gas. Perfect.
