Hi

How do I book charter flights? Are they usually cheaper?

How do I get in touch with Travel City Direct? Would you recommend them?

I'm trying to book flights for the family for May for the wedding and as usual I ahve no idea where to begin LOL

TIA for any help on all this.

Hi Sam,

TCD are fine, we have booked through them many times.

The telephone number for TCD is 08709 904 577
They also have a website: Travelcity

Hope this helps

A suggestion - try using www.expedia.co.uk and compare prices before you commit to Travel City.

I got a quote of £3,400 for 3 adults for Easter (flights, car & 2 weeks in villa). On Expedia I got the 3 flights with US Airways for £450 each - so I reckon I can get a very nice villa and car for substantially less than £2000 for the 2 weeks - making it much cheaper than Travel City. I was also able to book 16 nights rather than the standard 14.

The downside is that we have to change planes (with a 4 hour wait) at Philadelphia. However, you go through Immigration there, so it saves time when you land in Orlando. Also, there are some nice shops and places to eat at Philly airport.

So I definitely think it's worth shopping around.

Good Luck!

Julie

One thought about that time of year Sam is that 1st May tends to be when a lot of the airlines cross over to their next price band. We're flying on the 2nd (can't be helped) and just missed out on some good scheduled deals - it may be that the charters are the same. Is there any way that your group could be persuaded to go for a longer trip :D and fly out at the end of April?

I agree with Julie that it's worth checking out the indirect scheduled flights, and you can sometimes get a really good deal on these for very little extra hassle.

BTW, I worked out from your countdown that the big day is the 13th May - is that right ? Co-incidentally that's DW birthday, and as we'll be staying across the water at BVW we'll definitely pop over and wave to the happy couple! DW will be the one wearing the birthday badge and looking slighty embarrassed :D

Mmmm thanks Paul this is sooo classic isn't it - I booked May because the room rates are a little cheaper after Easter but I didn't think to check flights LOL. But my brother the sweetheart that he is, is now saying that he doesn't care what it costs as long as they all get there and he likes Virgin anyways so they'll probably book flight only with them. We'll see.

BTW Paul we're gonna start calling you Sherlock - yes that is the date of the wedding and feel free to stop by and wave I'll look for the badge make sure you get her a big one - you know you can always say "it's so Sam recognises us" ;)

Ah, bless - that's so nice of him. Hopefully you can get time it for when Virgin are running one of their rare promotional offers!

So that's sorted then - DW will have the birthday badge, and i'll be wearing shorts and a deerstalker, smoking a pipe :D

When we stayed at the YC a couple of years ago we were lucky enough to be able to sit on our balcony and see pretty much an entire wedding take place. Everything looked so perfect, it was wonderful.
