Wondering if any DIS drivers have stopped in Charleston before? We would like to stop for two nights and need a hotel that will sleep five, but not break the bank.

Don't need to be in the historic district, but maybe within 10-15 minutes of it.

Would anyone have any suggestions! Thanks so much!!!

We stayed at the Hampton Inn Historic District. It is right across the street from the visitor center and is an easy walk to downtown. They offer a free breakfast. Just not sure if a room can accommodate 5, but it might be worth a look.

Charleston is a lovely city. If you have time, check out the aquarium. Also, the boat ride out to Ft. Sumpter is pretty cool.

There are quite a few hotels downtown...but you could also look at hotels in Mt. Pleasant. Just a hort drive across the Ravenel Bridge from downtown and a very nice area.

There is a very new and very charming, southern-style Courtyard in Mt Pleasant. It was perfect for us since my brother lives in Mt Pleasant but we also like to be close to downtown for dining and awesome childrens museum.

Many room types. We had 2 queens and I think a sleeper sofa with a balcony. They had a lovely outdoor pool and firepit. We had breakfast included but don't know if that was b/c hubby has Marriott account.

When staying downtown we usually do the Mills House. It's gorgeous (my bro also got married there!) and is a Holiday Inn property so we have been able to stay on points if the rates are outrageous. It's unlike most holiday inns and the location is great.

Once, we stayed at the Embassy Suites downtown which used to house the Citadel. It was a cool building and of course room for 5 but since historical not as big as your typical ES. We also unfortunately had a smoking room and they had no rooms to move us to which kind of ruined it for us. Also, not a great pool compared to the rooftop pool at the Mills House or the pretty new pool/firepit at the Courtyard.

Hope this helps! we love Charleston and wish we could go more often. So jealous that my brother lives there but I'd weigh a ton with all those amazing restaurants closeby!!:rolleyes1

We stayed at the Days Inn in the Historic district and it was great. Reasonably priced, clean comfy rooms and one of the few downtown hotels with free parking. They also have an onsite restaurant named Toast that was quite tasty.
