Last time I went my walkies and camcorder would not charge properly I was using an adapter but still it would not work. I remember an old thread someone started about charging mobiles and it said about using something else but I cant remember can anyone help????The walkies are really useful in the parks!!

As well as different plug/sockets, the USA also has different voltage. In the UK we use 240 volts, in the UK it is 110/120. You need to make sure that as well as using the correct plug (or a travel convertor), your electrical equipment (phone charger, hair dryer, etc) can cope with the voltage. There should be a label on your electrical item which will say somethibng lke 220-240 volts or 110-240 volts. If it says 220-240 volts it probably won't work in the USA, but if it says 110-240 it will be fine.

It may have been me posting about mobiles - we've have problems charging them in the past, but it suddenly occured to us to try taking the car chargers and they work fine. Dh reckons we don't usually have a problem with the camcorder or digital camera - charging overnight usually provides sufficient power for the following day.

You can buy a voltage converter for about $10, which allows camcorders etc to charge at their normal rate.

Where can you get the converters from?

We got ours from an electrical store in Belz mall 1. It sold GB's etc and they were in there(sorry can't remember the name). They sell them in EB in Florida Mall as well. It was a great find for us as we had taken air bed with a moter pump that wouldn't charge, even left over night, within 1 hour it was fully charged using the converter.

JUst a thought about the walkie talkies - did you know that the use of UK walkie talkies is illegal in the US? They use reserved frequencies I believe....however you can buy them quite cheap from Walmart when you are out there!
