You can charge at downtown disney as well :)
Even the restaraunts that arent owned by disney, I charged our drinks at the bar with my room key at Wulfgang's

Thanks Keith, I'm glad to know I can charge at the DTD restaurants...we eat at PH at least once per trip, so I'm glad to know I have this option. Thanks for clarifying!

If you were to pay cash of say $1000 upon check in, can you then check your balance a few days later and add to it if you need to. This sounds like such a safe way to go, and so much less hassle than dealing with cash all day.

Yes, you can. My DH, went to the desk, 3 days into our trip, and got a detailed print-out, of our charges. We had the option, to pay cash for everything so far, go ahead, and have it charged and start over, or just keep going until we got closer to the $1000.00 mark.

Much safer than carrying cash. It is a wonderful perk. :flower:

Also-- just to add, you can continue charging until midnight of your checkout day. We checked-out, and had our card charged, but then could continue to use it the rest of the day. The charges appeared, as sep. purchases on our CC statement, rather than one big charge, but no big deal.

I would never carry 1000 in cash. Having had my wallet stolen (not at WDW) I learned the lesson everything is replaceable except the cash. If you have the money just leave in your bank to pay the bill when you get home.

Or you can use traveler's checks. We have left our cc information at check in, then paid the balance off with the traveler's checks the night before we depart.
