Charging to room question

Is there a way to check how much you have charged to room without going to your resorts desk and asking? Perhaps online? I got some gift cards with my redcard for the discount but would just like to charge along the way for conveinence and then pay off at the end but want to make sure I'm not being overcharged along the way or anything. Also you can pay this off with gift cards right? Or can you apply all your cards to your room ahead of time so there is effectively a credit?

Results vary on this. We have never found a CM that would/could do this. We have always been told that they won't do this any longer because too many people would throw away their Gift Cards after applying them to their room account. Then if the guest didn't use the entire amount they put down the guest obviously wanted the unused $$ back. Well without the exact Gift Card(s) used, there was nothing the CM could do. The way the system is they cannot refund the $$ any other way, not even issuing a new Gift Card. There are random reports of people here on the DIS finding a CM to do it, but it's pretty rare now.

So we make a habit of stopping at the Concierge desk, there's usually nobody there except the CM, every couple days and paying off the balance that we have at that point.

With the MB's now, I keep looking for something like MB account information being made available with your pin number but so far it hasn't happened. I don't mind stopping and seeing a CM or concierge about my existing charges though. Met some really nice people whilst doing it. I do recommend doing it every other day or so because my last trip I was charged a fee for missing a ressie that I had actually showed up early for and ate there. Caught it when I was walking to my room and did an about face that almost took out a dad and a youngster. CM got it removed in a jiffy.
 
We use GCs also and I like to stop at the desk every couple of days to payoff the balance with our GCs. It only takes a couple of minutes and I also get a detailed printout of the charges for my records. I do not like to be caught off guard at the end of the trip:) I also use Disneys giftcard site to consolidate all our GCs into just a few. They will allow you to consolidate up to $1000 on to each GC. This way I only have to take a couple of GCs and not 20-30.
