I am reading over threads and saw that sometimes the waiter/waitress charges your credit card (if you have charging privi's added to your room key). How can you make sure this doesn't happen? Is it as simple as checking the receipt each time it comes back to you?

To be *sure* it doesn't happen, don't put charging privileges on your KTTW and tip/pay for extras in cash.

Other than that, check your receipts so you can get it corrected right away if they do it. But that won't necessarily prevent it from happening, it will just mean it gets fixed sooner.

You could make one of the room keys no charging and that one use for meals. Unless you are charging your tip back to the room on the card then make sure you check the receipt in the restaurant.

Ok thanks for the suggestions....I think I will make one of the cards no charging privileges.

AFAIK, the server cannot charge your credit card directly. What they can do is charge your KTTW account which is then charged to your credit card. I'm sure that a server has accidentally charged someone's KTTW instead of deducting a TS credit, but I'm sure it doesn't happen often enough to really worry too much about. If you're worried about tipping in cash instead of by credit card I guess you could do as TillyMarigold suggests and use a KTTW card without charging on it to "pay" for your meals. Personally, I find it easier for me to charge the tips back to my room and than to carry a bunch of cash around.

We tryed it both ways last year in June for the week we tryed the card with no charging and payed the tip in cash. In Sept we put charging on the card and charged the tip back to the room. It seemed less of a hassle in Sept. to use the card to charge the tips back to the room, seemed like more paper work for some reason when we paid the tip in cash. Just check the receipt at the restaurant and the night before checking out go to the front deck and check your charges, you don't want to get home and find the mistake and have to settle things on the phone.

This happened to us on our trip last month. My Brother-in-law checked his receipt as we were getting ready to leave Crystal Palace and noticed they charged it to his room instead of the DP. The rest of us raced to Splash Mountain while he took care of this. It took so long that he missed getting in line with us and by the time he got up to the front of the line, it broke down. Was going to be long wait so he never got to ride SM. Make sure to get your receipt early and check it.

We take the middle ground - we use one of the kids' cards without charging privledges for counter service and snacks, just to be on the safe side, but at table service meals we use our KTTW and charge tips/extras back to the room. It only takes a second to check the receipt since you have to sign it anyway, and if you miss something at the point of sale you get a second chance when you check out and receive an itemized list of things charged to the room.
