That trend is on the wane.
Nowadays, most guests carry the small "pocket rechargers" so they don't have to sit and wait
for the phone to recharge.

Really useful pocket re-chargers can be bought for $10-$20 at Walmart and Amazon, etc.

Disney also has vending selling fully charged-up pocket re-chargers that
guests can use immediately... and then re-charge for future use, over and over.

The days of re-charge stations are fading fast.

A few years ago, I was in Tony's Town Square Restaurant and the manager came over with a machine and offered to recharge my phone while I ate. He said they were testing them and if all went well, there'd be many more. I loved the concept, but I guess the test didn't go well since I never saw one again.

The availability of personal portable rechargers skyrocketed and their cost dropped like a rock.
No need for Disney to make a heavy investment in these units (and likely try to have guests pay a substantial fee for their service)
when guests can buy 'em and keep 'em for so little money.

Yeah, they are called Fuel Rods. They cost $30 at the parks, or $20 from the company's website: http://www.fuel-rod.com/

They are super handy to have, as you can just keep swapping the empty charger for a full one as many times as you like without having to remember to charge it overnight. Considering how often I am on my phone at the parks, the battery can get drained very quickly, and these have been invaluable.

For actual mobile charging stations, they are visible on the app. Go to "Guest Services" and select the list option, not the map option. Scroll down to "Mobile Charging Stations", and click "Find on Map", it will then show the actual locations in the park. You need to have your own cable there to use it though.

They are only in MK at the Tangled bathrooms and in the circus area. Nowhere at other parks or Disney Springs. Fuel Rod kiosks are located at multiple places in each park, resort, and Disney Springs.

Thanks for your replies. I probably won't need to recharge as we take afternoon breaks, I was just over-planning in case of an emergency.

We also do afternoon breaks, I still found the Fuel Rods handy. I used that, and DW used a solar powered charger we just kept clipped to our stroller.

Thanks for asking this! I asked on another post earlier today in conjunction with another question and didn't get a response. It didn't occur to me to bring a personal recharger (though DH probably already has that on his packing list)

You might be able to eke out a whole day if your phone has some kind of battery saver mode.

I honestly couldn't tell you. DW bought it on Amazon. I'm sure you could find a few by just going on Amazon and doing a search. The reviews will lead you to a decent one. Ours is about the same footprint as your typical smartphone and about 3/4" thick. We just clip it into the stroller and leave it laying on our parent console with the solar panel facing up.

MK is the only park with dedicated charging stations:
Storybook Circus (big tent in the back)
Tangled Restrooms
Space Mountain gift shop

All four parks have outlets scattered throughout. Restroom and Restaurants are good places to look.
You can also drop off your phone with guest services to be charged, but you must provide the cord.

Fuel Rod kiosks are throughout the parks and resorts as well if you choose to purchase one. (If you do purchase a Fuel Rod, note they it does not come with a USB-C adapter for the newest androids)

Portable rechargers are definitely the way to go. One note about them though - Fuel Rods are great and convenient, but they may not have adapters for all phones. For instance, my phone uses USB-C and when I got my fuel rod last year it did not have that connection. I had to buy an adapter for it. So if you want to wait until you get to the park to decide if you want to get one, be certain that your connection is included. You're safe with all iPhones I believe and any other phone that uses micro-usb.

I got the Fuel Rod and consider it very handy. Both mine and hubs's phones are micro usb connections, but as several posters have noted, make sure you buy a usb-c adapter if your phone is one of the newer ones with this connection. Fuel Rods come with a short charging cord for micro usb, and included are adapters for Apple 30-pin connectors such as iPods, and the Lightning connector.

Yes, I saw them on sale for $2 at Best Buy this week. Were they decent items for that price? I don't really know; I just noted the low price.

I saw a charging spot near the bathrooms at an aquarium recently, and I wondered if people actually leave their phones there while they continue to enjoy the aquarium ... or whether they sit down for a while as their phones charge. Neither seems like a reasonable option.

I use a tote bag in the parks. I can have my phone in my hand, plugged into the portable battery in my tote bag. I just have the tote bag unzipped a tiny bit so the cable can come out of it. You can use your phone while it's charging while you're on the go. At one point I noticed that three people in my group were doing this at the same time.
