Charging Souvenirs to the Room - Disney Visa

Ok was wondering if I use my Disney Visa and and have it associated with my MagicBand and charge purchased souvenirs to my room can I pay that balance off with gift cards prior to check-out of the resort so it won't charge my card but show them the card while at the resort to get my 10% for purchases of $50? Or will they have to swipe the card to get the 10%? Or can I just show them the card and get 10% off and use another cc to have it charged to?

You may ask why I'm wanting to do this, it is because the only balance I want on that card is the actual booked vacation to avoid interest for the 6 months plus get the 10%.

To get the visa discounts, they'll make you swipe your card at restaurants and at the stores.

I've always had to pay with a Disney Visa to get the discount, the actual card, not just a DV attached to a Magic Band.

As said, the card must be used for payment at time of purchase. That is the only way Chase can assure they will get the purchase charge.

yes with the rewards card as well as the credit card you can get the discount but as others have said you have to actually pay with it at point of purchase

We use our Disney Visa for store purchases and the few restaurants that offer the discount. Everything else goes to the room and is then paid with gift cards.

OP you could charge the purchases to get the discount, pay that amount as a payment to the card before the statement drops and you would and still get the zero interest on the trip portion. Also, I'm pretty sure they are in 2 different balance buckets and the payments are applied to the purchases balance first any way. You still would get the six months no interest on the trip portion.

Be sure to go to guest services a day prior to check out to use the gift cards. Your visa will be charged in full at midnight of your last night for the balance due. If you bring your gift cards the morning of check out, they will gladly take more of your money and refund your visa....in the next 30 days or so... Why does it take 2 seconds to charge and take your money, but up to 30 days for the same electronic transfer to give it back...besides wanting to make interest on your money for as long as they are legally able to...

To get the 10% off you must make $50 in purchases every-time at every gift shop, so your best plan of attack is to look around, see what you want and get it at one of the big stores (I wait till world of disney day at DTD) and make one big purchase. If there are things in specialty shops that are not at world of disney then I see if I will hit the $50 on its own, otherwise its 10% so I'm not worried about saving $2.

You can not charge everything to your room via 15 small purchases and then go to the front desk and ask them for your 10% discount, although that would be awesome!

To avoid paying interest on your chase disney visa, all the purchases made AFTER the vacation 6 month 0% interest purchase have to be paid in full, think of it as First Charged, Last Off the bill. So your most recent charges are paid off first then your last charges will be your 0% interest.

As long as you can keep track of how much you put on your card during your vacation, thats the amount you need to pay off right away to avoid interest charges and the remaining balance should still be your 6 month no interest amount. However if you are dead set on using disney gift cards to pay off your room, I would visit the front desk nightly, once your room charges reach a certain level (I thought I read $1500 for Deluxe and Moderates, $1000 for values) your card on file will be charged and then you start a new tab. But definitely go the night before checkout to pay up otherwise you will find the card charged in the morning.
