Just received the new DVC booklet today. I was reading through it and came across the section on receiving mail (page 10). It states that there is a charge for receiving packages at certain DVC resorts (BCV, BWV, BLT and VGC). Does anyone know how much the charge is and why it applies only at certain resorts?

I do not know how much the charge is but would venture a guess that it's either related to them being "convention" properties OR that their bell services storage is too small to accommodate holding packages.

This is good to know tho. Thanks for the post.

The charge is added at WDW resorts that also have convention center facilities. The package receiving at these resorts is contracted out to IKON Business Center, as it is at many offsite convention facililties.

The receiving charge is based upon size and weight, and is usually $5 to $10 per package. People report paying a $10 fee for receiving a case of bottled water.

I don't know what charges are for the Grand Californian.

Does this apply to Garden Grocer delivery's as well?

No, not as far as I know. Garden Grocer deliveries are made through bell services, not the Business centers.

Thanks. I thought there must be a different delivery area for groceries as I hadn't read anything that others where being charged for such deliveries at the convention hotels. Since we are leaving in two weeks with our order already placed I figured I should double check. Thanks again!

We were just at BLT last week. My wife forgot her contacts so we had to have a box overnighted to us. It was delivered to the IKON Business center as stated above and no charge was applied at the time of pick up or on our room bill. Perhaps it's because the package was very small and under 1 lb.

My guess is that they just forgot to bill it or charged it incorrectly. Anything shipped to the resort should be charged. Anything delivered in person (Garden Grocer, Owners Locker, etc.) would not be. I dug up this price list for CSR; the other IKON-serviced resorts should be similar.

The fee charged (for packages received at the convention centers attached to Disney resorts) is based on the weight of the package.

1 to 4 pounds: $3
5 to 20 pounds: $5
21 to 70 pounds: $10
over 70 pounds: $0.70 per pound.

We were charged $5 for a package delivered through the convention centre at BCV last year, it was quite large but not heavy and it was charged to our room bill.

We were at VGC last month and were not charged for our Vons grocery delivery; probably similar to WDW not charging for Garden Grocer deliveries? A few days later we had a small package from Amazon delivered, but I'm not sure by what carrier, and also was not charged.
Not sure if we should have been charged for either of these so things may be different for other guests staying there.

Thanks everyone. I was curious since we had stayed at AKV last fall and received a package without any charge. It's good to know that Garden Grocer is treated separately.
