can anyone give me any idea of the charges for changing already booked flights with Virgin, at the beg. of Aug. we booked flights for next year (flydrvie) and are now considering lengthening our holiday by 5 days, but wondered what the charges would be.

I have had to alter my flights/details before. I was charged £25 a head to cancel Disney Tickets. They told me that the £25 is charge per head if the value of the holiday is decreased. If you increase the price of the holiday there is no charge. Now if it stays the same I don't know what they will do. If they charge then you could always add 1 nights accommadation in their cheapest hotel. Since that is inceasing the price of the holiday then there would be no charge. You don't have to use the accommadation.

thanks DisneyBB I'll give them a ring - thought that we could do with 5 extra days after loosing that many days due to hurricane Charley a few weeks ago when the property we were staying in had no power for 5 days and couldn't use the pool for 9 days so thought hey why not extend next years holiday!!

hi snookhams:wave:

would you let me know how you get on with virgin,i ask this because i had to change my holiday dates and by changing it cost £967 more but i was still charged £25 pp so it ended up costing me another £100:rolleyes: i was very annoyed at the time because it was in plenty of time(were talking 1 year before we go)and the holiday was costing quite a bit more:crazy:

i'd just be interested really not that it would make much difference now as we only have a few weeks before we go

I booked through Virgin for next year's October holiday back in April and they told me if I changed the holiday, there would be no charge unless the price went down. I wanted to clarify this, as at the time I didnt know the half term dates for DDs school. I was assured that there would be NO charge, so as long as your holiday price doesnt decrease I would fight them if they try and charge the £25 pp.

We've just changed our holiday & were charged £25/person so I cancelled the accommodation and just took the flydrive and booked ASMo myself, more than saving the £75 fee compared to what Virgin were charging me (£220 DIY v. £360 Virgin).

Good luck to you - Virgin charged me £25 per person to remove LOS tickets from our trip in December. Even with the extra £150 though it was still cheaper to get AP/FITS tickets. They told me it was because they had already "purchased" the tickets from WDW, which I find extremely hard to believe (they don't even confirm the room until 3-4 days before your stay begins). I personally think this is just an admin fee for them having to reprint the invoice etc which I totally agree should carry a surcharge - but £150 did seem rather steep! :)

However as it was in the T&C's there was little I could do - I did try to argue the point but they wouldn't budge. So good luck!

Eve,

When I used to book with Virgin Holidays (not DIY) I made amendments 3 different times (increasing the cost of the holiday) and I was never charged.

They don't charge if you increase the cost of your holiday,You really should take that matter up with their customer services.

The charge was £25 a person as the price lowered due to the fact that we no longer fly at a weekend and there is no weekend suppliment - the charge is just added to the invoice you don't pay at the time of changing!!!

We were still going to be charged, even though initially our holiday would have cost more - we also lost previous early booking discounts etc. as apparently any change made it "a completely new holiday"

We've just extended our holiday by four days making it a full three weeks and Virgin didn't charge us any amendment charges whatsoever!

Hi, we cancelled £1500 of theme park tickets with them and werent charged.

They were thinking about it, and they did mention £25 per person, but I said no way would I pay it, when they really over-charge for their attraction tickets.

So if you argue back a bit, they'll check with a supervisor, but you should be fine.

I have also made an amendment to a virgin booking (price stayed thre same) and was not charged. However my sister made the same change to her booking and was charged £25 per person. I think it depends who you get on the other end of the phone. I just kept quiet and figured I'd scored a bonus. Would be nice to know what the official line was though

well i have tried and tried to get throught to virgin with no luck but i'm not going to give up i'll keep trying and let you all know the outcome::yes::

just got off the phone with virgin regarding my amendment fees
she told me that their policy is to charge £25 pp and she could not understand when i said that i knew of people who had not been charged,
she said as a goodwill gesture that she will refund me 2 of the charges and that i need to go back to my travel agent to be given this::yes:: she explained that they have not got the full cost of my holiday yet (i paid it all up on time in july)this is why my agent will refund me:D

For my trip in Feb05 I wanted to add some accommadation. The flydrives were booked through VTS. VTS said that they would have to charge me £25 as that is what VH charged, in fact they insisted and even told they have just VH to confirm. I argued and got no where. So I phoned VH's and was told that there is no charge to add value to an holiday, they only charge if you take away value. So an email to VTS customer service, who apologised and said that yes they do not charge to add value and would make sure that all their operators know.

So why not phone back and insist on speaking to a manager or customer service department.

isn't that strange that Vh's told you that::yes:: the lady that i spoke to was adament that you do get charged for changing a holiday(i actually phoned the customer service dept)i am thinking i was lucky that i got £50 back which is half of what i paid,i don't think i will get any further with them because the girl on the phone told me this was a goodwill gesture from virgin:rolleyes:

Well done Eve,

You did better than me and I spoke to an alleged manager :)

I changed my flydrive with them last year and I was charged £25 each to change it but as I brought it forward by 2 months I convinced them to let me keep the megadeals prices so i didn't mind to much. It did increase the price of my holiday as I added a couple of days on so it seems very hit and miss.

The time before that I cancelled my car that came with the holiday and wasn't charged for that.
