So I finally called today to upgrade our free dining to deluxe and was charged $370 for 2 adults and 1 child. According to this from the sticky it should be $350 since it's peak, and if it were regular season it would be $375. :confused3

Basic to deluxe, 2011
Regular season: $33/night/adult, $9/night/child
Peak season: $31/night/adult, $8/night/child

The girl put me on hold forever to ask a supervisor how to even upgrade me because she had no clue, she was ready to cancel my free dining and have me pay full price for upgrade. :scared1: I'm not going to quibble over $20, but just wondered if anyone else had this experience.

Hmm maybe you were charged the 2012 prices ?!?
Would have been an even bigger jump if that were the case.

For the OP, that's just strange. Are you sure that was the difference in cost between the plans and that no additional change fee was applied? That's the only thing I can think of (normally they waive this for upgrades, but they can apply it if they so choose).

(Tax is included in the dining plan prices yes)

She didn't mention a fee, after she told me the total I told her my calculations showed $350 and she just said her supervisor told her $370. I had already been on the phone forever and was hot and tired, so I said whatever and just paid it. I used a Disney gift card and then checked the balance and yes, $370 was deducted.

You are 10 days from your trip according to your ticker? Then I'm almost positive they charge a fee for ANY changes made within 2 weeks of your trip.

I had always been told it they don't charge a fee if you upgrade, that they're happy to give you a more expensive plan. I knew I had to do it within 72 hours, so I didn't cut it that close, but darn, I would have done it 4 days earlier if that's the case! Yeah, it's only $20, but that $20 could have better been used on 2 grey goose slushies!! ;)

That's up until 2 weeks before check in. After that, there's a last-minute change fee, though I thought it was $15, not $20.

From doing some more calculating it seems maybe DH and I were charged the non peak rate, but DD the peak rate, that would make it an even $20. Hmmmm.....

Oh.. I see the deal.. sorry. Peak is LESS than regular??? Weird!

Because for 2011 (at least) only basic DDP has different peak season pricing. So, upgrading from QSDP to DDP would be more expensive in peak season, but upgrading from DDP to DxDP would be less expensive; with the opposites being true for non-peak seasons.

I thought it was $15 too but when I searched it I couldn't find actual figures.

I have searched and searched, but Disney must keep a tight lid on their fee policy! :lmao:
