I noticed A $60.00 charge on my credit card for Disney dining. I know we didn’t miss any reservations on our trip. I’m currently on hold with Disney dining, and have been promised a 2+ hour wait. Has this happened to anyone else? Is there another way to dispute this? Should I just dispute it on my card?

I do recal reading about a few other issues like this pop up. For a 2 hour wait with Disney a CC dispute might be a faster way to get Disney's attention. I don't recall how the charges show up now, if you have your ADR info and the charge for the meal on your CC it might be very easy to show you ate there. Infuriating that you have to deal with this but to add insult to injury the fact that Disney won't pay enough CMs to handle the call volume makes it even worse.

I of course used cash or a Disney gift card for all my meals this trip. The only restaurant I can think of where something weird happened was Olivia’s, we were late (Disney bus! Yay!) and my phone was dead, so they took my sisters number to text us when the table was ready.

Dang! Yeah that puts you in a tough spot for the CC company, I think I'd hang on hold and plead your case once you know where the now show fee came from. Seems like Disney should be more forthcoming with that info when they put the charge on your account. Did you get an email about it from Disney? I'm doubtful because that would be providing great service and a good IT system, something Disney has been not doing so great on lately.

That really stinks when you combine it with the long waits now for someone to answer. You showed up, you ate, you paid. And an additional $60 fee is just ridiculous.

Since this started, I've taken to keeping my receipts. When I get back to the room each night, I throw them into a pocket on my suitcase. When I get home, I just set them aside for a month or two, then throw them out. Which is absolutely ridiculous that one would have to do that, but it's a ridiculous system.

okay, I got my money back, and I didn't end up waiting all that long, I poked around my credit card bill and found a number for Disney's billing department, I got thru WAY quicker than on the dining line the disney website directed me to.

So for anyone this happens to, call disney billing- (407)828-5630

that's a really good idea, I've apparently been much too trusting haha. I do save all my cancellation emails.
What happened in this case, I am a Landry's card member, but I made a reservation at T-Rex thru disney dining.
When I checked in, I also told them I was a Landry's card holder, and the disney agent says they probably marked me as Landry's walkup instead of checked in as a reservation.
But its all sorted now.

I do the same thing but instead of the actual receipt I just take a photo. I figure if I ever actually needed to show the receipt to anyone like a credit card company they'd have me upload a photo versus send them the actual receipt. It's annoying we have to think about these things while on vacation.

I did have to cancel a reservation on the day of and was charged $20.00. This was in January of this year.
If however you didn't cancel a reservation or not go to a reservation you should fight it. Unfortunately,
with the staff shortages you may be on the phone for a while. I had some questions before our trip and
was on hold for about an hour.

I had the same thing happen this past weekend. when I got home Tuesday, I noticed the erroenous charge on my card. I called and promptly had te amount refunded. Fortunately, I did not have to wait two hours on hold. But the good news is that they will take care of it once you ge through to a human

When you check in, isn't it the job of the CM to click something on the computer, just to confirm that you're there? I thought they did that. If so, charging you for a no-show could be as simple as the CM forgetting to click on the computer that you're checked in.

Once I found the billing phone number, I didn’t wait. But the website made it seem like you had to call Disney dining to sort it out

Yes. In my case, I should have just not said anything about the landrys card until I was seated. I hadn’t used it in awhile, and didn’t remember when I was supposed to hand it over.

For what it’s worth, I’ve probably had 100 dining reservations since they implemented the system and never been charged until this time.

That's really what you should be doing with credit card receipts anyways, vacation or not. Human error, technical error, it all can happen. That's what the receipts are for. The suggestion above to photograph them works too, since most of the time you'd be having to submit a digital copy to email someone anyways.

Disney knows exactly where you were every second you were on their property. They would be able to tell if your magic band or phone was at that restaurant. I would do the hold thing and by the end of it that $60 charge would become a credit for the dinner you paid for ............ I get that mistakes get made but you don't force folks to waste 2 hours of their day waiting to speak to someone about correcting it ... THAT to me is the worst part of this scenario and it needs to change. Tired of hearing the covid excuses.

Yes, I agree. I always save all my receipts in a banker's box for multiple years. I may be over the top, but twice I've been charged a tip on the tip section of a receipt that I didn't write in (clearly, the server wrote it in after-the-fact), and had my receipts to prove it.

I wonder if you "weren't " there, because you used your sister's phone. I'm just guessing, maybe using that number with your name didn't count as you being there..

That was only my guess, you can’t tell from the charge which Restaurant charged the fee. It turned out to be T-Rex, the night before.

In the past you used to be able to modify an ADR to another day in the future, then cancel it before the 24 hr/day of penalty period, to avoid fees. I'm not sure if that loophole has been closed.

This happened to me as well, 3 years ago, also at T-Rex! (This is the dinosaur themed restaurant at Disney Springs right?) DH called to ask about the unexpected charge, was told what it was, and when we offered to send them our receipt as proof we dined there they said no need, and the charge went away.
Glad you were able to get yours resolved.
