I think I read on another thread that it is possible to charge room service tips now by writing on the receipt when they come. Is that true? We’ll be getting on the Magic Transatlantic Sunday and I would love to reduce my cash.

Yes, it has always been an option but they haven't always brought the slips for signature. When you place your order, you can confirm they will be bringing a slip for you to sign.

This. Often there is no slip.

On my use and cruises typically there, but sometimes under something and you see it later, often hidden as they prefer cash, as charged is pooled.

Since there is no charge for the items we order from room service, it is not all that unusual that the cast member who delivers does not always present a charge slip unless asked. I usually tip in cash, but when my supply of singles has gotten low, I’ve asked for the slip to add a gratuity and always been accommodated.

Agree, there if required.

I just read that there is an automatic 15% gratuity charge for room service now. Is this true? If so, 15% of what? I remember the menu being free.

Where did you read that? I'd find it hard to understand, since most items on the Room Service menu are free. That said, any beverages you order will have a 15% gratuity. That would be bottled water, sodas, alcoholic drinks.

Thanks Princess Schmoo. I read it in the booklet they sent me with the cruise information. I think you are right that it's the drinks. Is there a cost for any of the food items?
