this is probably going to seem like a dumb question. Can I use a charge card to buy tickets to get into Disney when I get there? How about eating places there, do they take cards? Trying to figure out how much cash to bring with us and how much we can use a card.

Thanks.

Yup- I put my AP on one every year- All non movable shops take cards (ie the carts and outdoor vendors dont) but the rest do-

Now I am trying to figure out what AP stands for. Thanks for the reply em-

It's good to know that the carts don't take credit cards so to have some cash on hand-ty.

I knew I would feel silly when I heard what AP meant. Sometimes the simpliest things are to much for me. :)

Also, I heard this tip--if you need cash in the park, you can use your charge card to purchase Disney Dollars, which can then be used like cash and aren't regarded as a cash advance by your credit card company. :)

I used my Disney Visa for everything while I am Disney (just as I do when I am not). I only take a enough cash for popcorn and bottled beverages.

Not sure if that works anymore. I have purchased Disney Dollars on my charge card previously, But, I was recently at WDW and tried to buy a bundle of $25 and they told me cash only. I couldn't put it on my key to the world card either. Also, they have now set a limit of how many you can buy.

We recently purchased $200 Disney Dollars from our local Disney Store. So, we gave most of those to the kids for their things they wanted and then carried some for popcorn, pop, etc...

peagreenid--How odd! I don't know if that's a WDW-only thing, but at our Disney store we can still purchase Disney dollars on credit card, and I haven't heard anything about a limit. I wonder if it's only in the parks, or if the Disney store is unaware of certain policies? Maybe it's to help prevent credit card fraud?

Thanks, that's important information to have!

On our December trip to Disney World we could purchase $50 in Disney dollars using a credit card per transaction.

Actually, I was at a Travel Agent class at WDW in February, and the discussion came up in the class about the limits being set. I didn't hear anything about the credit card purchases at the class. I wanted to purchase Disney Dollars for some of my clients and was told At the Beach Club resort they could now only be purchased with Cash. I had purchased them with a credit card from the Disney Store previously many years ago, so I was a little surprised, simply because I was on a budget and didn't want to spend all my cash on Disney Dollars. I remember also someone telling me you could turn your disney dollars back into the disney store for cash if you didn't use them. But our local store refused to take them back from my children many years ago. So we had to hang onto them for a couple of years until we returned to WDW again. It appears this is like everything else, WHAT THE CM DOES OR DOESN'T KNOW! I am guessing the limit thing is something they are leaning towards though since it was brought up in my class, so they certainly could be heading that direction.
