Characters Out of Their Element

These are fun to read. Great idea.

A few years back (during the 100 Years of Magic celebration), they use to have kiosks at the Expo Hall at MK where you could find out more about Walt Disney. I remember walking back there once and finding Friar Tuck there all alone checking out the videos at the kiosk.

On this past trip upon meeting Foulfellow and Gideon, I discovered that Gideon seems to enjoy games of rock papper scissors. We played it a few times. I also saw him dance around with his cane once when there wasn't anyone around wanting to meet him. Pretty funny.

At the Hat at MGM, I was in the pin shop when a bunch of characters came out. Dopey saw that I had a camera around my neck, came up to me and posed for a picture before heading over to his location. He was actually one of the characters that I was hoping to find, so that made it even cooler!]

One time we saw Alice and Mulan looking at pins under the hat at MGM. It was so funny because Alice kept pointing out Mulan pins but couldn't find any of her own. :)

Last year, my brother proposed to his girlfriend during the MVMCP Wishes  . The next morning we went to the character breakfast at CP. His fiancee loves Eeyore so she kind of made a big deal showing her new ring to Eeyore who was hugging her. Pooh came over and pointed around the table (there were 8 of us there) trying to figure out who gave her the ring. When my brother stood up, Pooh "pushed" him aside and then got down on one knee and tried to propose to her, pretending to put the ring on and everything! Eeyore was pacing back and forth, holding his head in his hands and wringing his hands, acting very upset. It was absolutely hysterical! :rotfl2:

EVERYTIME i see Chip and Dale......in ANY of the parks....they ALWAYS interact with me. the Characters on Parade Bus stopped right outside of the world showcase, right near the gift shop. we just happened to walk out the door and who runs over to me and DF but Chip and Dale! DF was upset they didn't pay much attention to him lol

another time we were at Chef Mickey's for the Character Dinner and they were there again.....and DF was sitting next to me. out of nowhere Dale comes over and starts "flirting" with me. next thing you know he tries to push DF out of his seat to sit next to me! it was so cute! DF's family thought it was funny....for some reason he wasn't laughing! lol.

at every parade some character comes out to shake my hand or dance with me or something. it's cute.....but i'm always thinking "aww those poor kids they want some attention too!" lol. DF gets annoyed.....like it's MY fault!

now if only Jack Sparrow would do something like that.

Back in 2002 when ny DS was 10 mos old we werein the camera shop, in the very back just taking a rest and watching the movie back there. Well my DS was crawling on the floor because we were the only ones there and who comesout but Captain Hook and Mr Smee. Captain Hook gets down on the ground and starts crawling after my son, he sat on the floor playing and crawling with him for quite sometime,at one point Capy Hook and Mr Smee were fighting over my DS about who liked him better.I was so wrapped up in it I forgot to video it, but I did get acute pic of Capt Hooksitting on the floor with my DS.

Another day in the same area we again went back there to rest and found Donald Duck by himself pretending to drive the Mickey Boat, in front of the screen of Steam Boat Mickey.

Another time we were under the train station and the Genie from Alladin came out,and my DD was playing with the phone booth, so he went over and picked up another phone and pretend he was calling her, everyone stopped to watch but he only paid attention to my kids, he then got down on the ground and was playing with my DS before he skipped off on to Main Street.

They were the best times. :wizard:

Again, I had tears watching such tenderness.

And I have tears seeing your pictures and reading your stories.

My brother's friend is "close" to Mickey and Minnie, and I couldn't imagine how heartwarming it is to know you can cause such pure joy in those who especially need it.

Such a nice thing to read before bed :goodvibes

Last June while we were in Fantasyland in MK, my Dad had a very important business call he had to make, so he went over to a phone (near Mad Tea Party), and while he was on the phone Alice, and Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee kept knocking on the glass and wouldnt go away. He also said that Alice wouldn't stop talking!

We took our first trip to DL back in June, at the parks 7 days straight. I thought I saw everything...and then there's the OPs picture of Alice at the little door! Looks like I need to take another trip to Cali.

DH had a conference in Anaheim last April...a week before Easter...at a hotel a mile from DL. I knew it would be crowded, but who can say no to a spur of the moment trip to Disneyland? Anyway, we were at character dinner at the Disneyland Hotel, it was crowded and I was cranky (you know, 17,000 people by 11 a.m.) and vetching with the women at the next table wondering where the #@***!!! is my ice tea, when Goofy walked up behind my booth and slowly stuck his head down right next to mine. :goofy: He startled the heck out of me and I screamed and jumped, which made all the kids in the area laugh and Goofy jumped back holding his ears and running around. Who could be cranky after that? :rotfl:

okay, One time I went to Disney with my best friend for our 13th birthdays and we were at Chef Mickeys and during the song thing Mickey saw our Cake hats and come over and he started dancing with us! It was so fun. :mickeyjum

Then another time I was in Animal Kingdom with my best friend and Goofy was with no one so we went over to him and then we were dancing with him then pluto came out into the same area and we were dancing with him to. :goofy:

Apparently Characters like to dance :rotfl:

Then just this past April I went on a cruise with my family and my friend Jessica and we would go see Chip and Dale anytime we could and everytime we saw them they walked away with us waving to the other people. I would always be wiht Chip and Jessica would always be with Dale.

Then the very last night of our cruise we met ALL of the characters on that boat alone. We knew someone who worked on the ship and she got alll the characters to see us :teeth: So we danceing with Chip and Dale there and Stitch too!!!!

When I was there in 2002 I had a little boy with me that was about 7 years old. We came off the POTC and saw Hook and Smee. I told the boy to go up to Hook and say Tick Tock Tick Tock and the characters started chasing him all over the place. It was hysterical!

Yeah, who wouldn't like a little private "character interaction" with Capt. Jack Sparrow! :cool1: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Recently we were walking from Liberty Square to the entrance to Adventureland, behind the sillohuette paintings and out of no where Pocahantas was just walking around with her CM assistant. There was no one else around but she was going from tree to tree looking at the leaves and she picked up a piece of trash and threw it away. It was just so.... odd! But very neat at the same time.

My son is afraid of live face characters so he wanted nothing to do with her but since it was only us I really wanted to interact with her so I got an autograph for my dd's who were at home... LoL.

That sound like fun. I have never experienced them, but I know that you can ride Barnstormer on the first ride of the day with Goofy and see him water ski at the Contemporary.
Really? I had no idea. Does he Goofy ride the 1st ride everyday? It would be really neat to ride with Goofy!

Thanks for the pics Dan Murphy. Isn't Disney World a wonderful place. Your pictures and stories brought a smile to my face and a tear to my eyes.

We went to WDW when my son was 3, and camped at FW in a new camper. Well, he tried to climb out of bed as if it was the layout of our previous camper, missed his footing and ended up with a black eye that evidently looked much worse than it felt. ANYWAY - the characters were all over him the whole trip. We went to the castle to eat, and while waiting for our table, Cinderalla held him on her lap and fussed over him for probably 10 minutes.

When my dd was 3 (isn't 3 a magical age?) and totally besotted with Cinderella, we went into the toontown fair tent, and when we came into the character room, dd ran to the girl mouse, hugged her, buried her face in her and started to cry. I guess Cindy herself was too overwhelming. The mouseCM hugged her and patted her and wiped her eyes and waved me off when I was going to try to get her to move on. AWWWWW

Now they're 7 and 5, and big sis is 10 and no one wanted to see characters this last trip, and I bawled at CinderellaBration, because I think on the next trip, no one will care about Cinderella at all. Mom is such a sap!

Oh, how could I almost forget! When our very first baby was 5mo, we were eating at the Garden Grill (I think - is that the name of the rotating one in Land?) and I was trying to give her her bottle and eat at the same time - all moms know how that is- so Minnie held her bottle for a bit, then when she gave it back to me, Mickey fed me a few bites. No mean tricks in those gloves! We have great pictures of that, but they aren't digital so I can't share.

While at the Finding Nemo Aquarium in Epcot we were able to watch Mickey scuba dive in one of the tanks......Now that was cool. There werent many people around and we were able to take pictures with him through the glass.

He was in full costume and had all the scuba gear to go with it.

My then 4yo son was very impressed. :thumbsup2

I have a couple, once we were walking around in Morocco, and out of the blue here comes Jasmine. We were the only ones in this little area..I didn't even see a handler. Anyway, she talked with us (mostly the kids) for the longest time! Then a line formed but we got great pics (she was a gorgeous Jasmine!)

Also once while we were waiting in a long line to see Pooh, Piglet, & Tigger, inside that toy store in I think the UK??
Anyway, Mary Poppins comes out this door, down these little steps and really hams it up with all the kids waiting in line!
She stayed there for the longest time, and my youngest son and her really had a conversation. He will talk to anyone as long as they will listen! SHe even sang and had the kids sing along with her. It was really neat!

Yup, it is in the UK. It really is a nice place to meet the Pooh characters. And sometimes Mary Poppins and Alice will join them there. I rather enjoy it there myself (especially when the Brittish Invasion is playing. Then the characters will be dancing to the music).
