Just got back from 9 days at WDW. We managed to get numerous characters including a couple that always elude us - Mary Poppins (never seen her in 5 trips and managed to catch her 4 different times this trip), Mushu, Belle (in her yellow dress), Ariel (in her human dress in Toontown), and Jiminy Cricket.

Sounds like a great trip. Congrats on your finds. And Ariel in her dress at Toontown! I've never heard of that before. Very cool. :thumbsup2

And Ariel in her dress at Toontown! I've never heard of that before. Very cool. :thumbsup2

Ariel only appears in the Toontown Hall of Fame whenever her grotto is closed for refurbishment.

Right now, it's down for a short rehab, so Ariel is currently greeting guests in her human form in the Hall of Fame.

Where at AK did you find Jiminy Cricket he is one of the harder ones to find??

We saw him at Conservation Station with Pocahontas & Rafiki. He has supposedly been more regular there over the last couple months, but we did not see him in October and only once on this trip.

Sounds like you had a great trip and were able to find lots of characters. Do you remember what day you saw Mushu? What time? I am really hoping to catch him my trip in March, haven't been able to find him my last two trips either.

Did you see any sign of Marie the cat?? Just curious?? I heard she was spotted at MGM, would be nice if she would become a regular.

did you see piglet at CP? i'm not going to CP this time & wondering if i can find him elsewhere....maybe the UK in Epcot or in Dinoland in AK? i'll check both of those places when i go next week....anywhere else?

I figured that was the case, but it's still cool to hear that she's in her dress at Toontown. I really think she looks nice in her human form, and its good to hear she's appearing in the dress outisde of just character meals, if only for a little while.

We saw Mushu around 4:30 on Dec. 30th. We called the character hotline and they said that Mushu wouldn't be out (the character hotline has been fairly useless for me - about a 20% accuracy rating) and yet was there with Mulan in China.

We did see Piglet at CP - however, he was also with Pooh and Tigger in Epcot in England on Jan. 3rd.

Glad you got to meet Jiminy!:) I asked the CM's at the Entertainment board in AK in October if Jiminy was out. They checked and said "yes - he's over at the Conservation Station." So we set off on the train and there was Pocahontas, Stanley and Rafiki. When I asked one of the the character chaperones over there when Jiminy would be back out she said "Try tomorrow - he's not available today!" :confused3

Oh well, maybe next time...

He rarely will be anywhere else outside of CP. The place he 95% of the time will be will be at CP.

On our last trip we saw Piglet at the UK in Epcot.

I am sorry to hear that. We usually count on there info as my DD picks a character quest of a few rare ones each trip and we go hunting based on their advise. (Good thing we go a few times a year as we park hop whereever the character line sends us!)

I'm with you, the character hotline has never been right on for me either, they will tell me a certain character isn't out that day and then I'll be walking and a little while later see them out. It's crazy. Oh well, I think its best sometimes to just do your own searching.

So agree!! I think asking a CM to call the character hotline is only good for common characters in predictable locations. I don't think they know anything about the more randomly used spots.

And I never forgot the one time I asked at Magic Kingdom Guest Services for Brer Bear - they told me he didn't meet anymore, and hasn't met in awhile. I doubted the information, but the CM informed me that it was correct. I sadly left the building :( , and then right in front of me coming our for meets is Brer Bear! Literally right there in front of me! Me and my nephew Ben happily meet him, and then afterwards I walked back into Guest Services and told the same CM that Brer Bear is OUT RIGHT NOW!! She looked very surprised her information was wrong! That's when I learned that the information from the character hotline is not "set in stone". They just don't know everything, so I learned to just keep my eyes open, and check known locations for characters anyway!

Glad to see I am not the only one who doesn't take the character hotline's word as gold! But the character hotline is good for finding established characters on a predictable schedule. :)

No kidding. I so agree. I have asked for certain characters and the CM at Guest Relations usually just looks at me like I'm from a different planet.
