Characters in Disneyland Hotel Lobby

I've seen videos of Disney characters (Snow White, Goofy, Captain Hook, etc) inside the Disneyland Hotel lobby, just walking around with seemingly no one in line for autographs. Is this common for the lobby?

We arrive to the Grand Californian on a Saturday and will be eating dinner at Goofy's Kitchen. If we go to the Disneyland Hotel lobby 30 minutes early, should we expect to see characters for autographs?

Thanks.

It's quite common. Not guaranteed but some may be there.

Huh, I never heard of this before. Are there any specific times of the day, or days of the week that I should try to swing by there? Low season/peak season?

When we checked in last year we didn't' see anyone, nor when we checked out or any other time we stopped by. I wouldn't count on that as being a definite. (though this was during the construction)

When we stayed at the DLH Goofy and minor characters would suddenly appear in the lobby. On the day we were leaving, Goofy made an appearance and we got all kinds of photos taken with him....he also played around with my Dad who was in a motorized cart. Lots of fun and great memories!

Yes -- We saw Goofy one time and Chip another time.

We weren't even staying at the hotel; just looking.

I think Goofy was coming from a character breakfast.

When we stayed at the DLH in November, they were in there constantly. I've seen them on previous trips, just not as much as I did this time around. I am assuming it was because of construction in and around the main building.

Just got back and saw no characters there but their was a CM playing the ukelele and singing in the lobby one afternoon.

Characters in the main lobby are one of the reasons I enjoy staying in the DH. We usually inquire at check in about the character schedule for the hotel. The characters are more fun and interactive in the lobby, as well as the hotel grounds. Just one of the many extras you get when staying with disney...:cool1:
