I am not looking forward to a character meal in a few days. We are a couple traveling without our kids. My hubby wants to see Pooh so we are eating at the CP.

Do the characters visit tables w/o kids?

Is there a polite way to keep them away from our table?

I would say yes, characters visit adult only tables. They have no way of knowing if an adult does not want to see them, and probably automatically assume you do.

When we dined at CP for breakfast, a table away from us was a couple. And the characters definately stopped there for them. Although they did not stay as long as they did with tables that had children.

The characters do stop at tables with adults only. We find that the masked characters spend much less time at our table than the face characters. I know it's short notice, but have you tried to get a 1900PF breakfast? Your hubby would still get to see Pooh and Tigger, but you would also get to see Alice, MadHatter and Mary Poppins who are all face characters. So maybe, if you are only creeped out by the masked characters, 1900 PF breakfast would be a nice way to meet eachother halfway (if you can even still get an ADR).

They definitely visit adult-only tables - at least they have every time we've done a character meal, and we're adults only.

I don't know if letting the host/hostess and your server know you don't want them to come over would do any good. The seating is in a big room, so you'll be seeing them anyway, even if they don't come over to your table itself, they'll be right next to and around it visiting the other tables, especially since those people booked a character breakfast to see the characters.

If it's going to be a huge issue for you, you might be better off finding out where and when Pooh will be in the parks (I've encountered him in Great Britain in EPCOT) and letting your husband meet him there. Just a thought.

(That said, when my family and I did Crystal Palace a few years ago, Pooh was centrally located near the buffet line and the other characters are who came around. But yes, they visited every table.)

I do the CP solo on every trip. I just wave to the characters as they're walking by and they wave back. It seems to work for all of us! :goodvibes

It's kind of expected that the characters will visit every table. They don't just visit tables with children. Usually those who attend character meals do so because they want to meet the characters, they don't attend for the food.

I don't know the effect of asking the host or your server for the characters to skip you. I also don't know how close you would be comfortable with them getting, because they will visit tables around yours. If your husband just wants to see Pooh I agree with the previous poster who said he could meet Pooh in the UK pavilion.

Maybe keep the camera with you so you can be the one taking pictures? That might help keep them away from you while letting your husband take part in the fun.
