Characters at the races... And pictures?

Last year I didn't take a camera and really regretted it so this year I'm bringing one along. I'm hoping that one will fit in my Spibelt.

And I agree with the others that I do enough other races to PR. Disney is all about the fun, the people and the characters. The experience is like no other and I want it to last as long as possible!

I ran today with my Canon in my boyfriends Spibelt. Worked fine. It's a Canon Powershot 1100 (one of the fairly small ones) I noticed there's a hook on there too and if I can find a long lanyard I am going to put it on the hook. That way if I fumble I won't drop it LOL!

The Spibelt is much smaller then a traditional fannypack. I could probably get a pouch for my water belt, but I was not planning to take it since Disney has water so this will work better. (Have to go buy my own now. I think he plans to put his room key and cash in his!)

I do a run walk combo so I am hoping I can just take my walk breaks at "photo ops" :)

I know I'm a little late to the party but I have a ton of pictures on my journal page of the Disney races. I stop at almost all the characters to take pictures. I also stop 5 or 6 times to see my scream team.

I will wear a loose pack to carry all my crap and just carry my water bottle in my hand. Phone, camera, ipod, gel, ham wraps, ets...

Not sure if I am reading this right but are you talking about hamstring wraps or actually wraps with ham - like for a little snack mid way through the marathon? popcorn::

Hamstring wraps. Ooh, I never thought of that. It might help with the cramping I am guaranteed to have.

No, with all the experimenting I have done, I can't find many things that agree with me but the ham wraped in a whole wheat tortilla will be one of my carb replacements.

Are most of you guys walkers because I can't imagine running a mile with a camera bouncing never mind 26.I am still trying to figure out how I am going to carry my gels and pretzels. My DDs said if I wear a fanny pack they will disown me! Can't blame them there.

Linda

Whatever you decide, Linda, make sure you practice with it on your training runs. The last thing you want is to get to mile 1 and realize your bag is chafing!

Fanny packs, or at least packs on the water belts are a necessity to a marathon. tell your dd's to watch the other runners and get over it. Seriously. You can't worry about high fashin during a amrathon (or any fashion ;) ) Yes, I run adn I take pack and camera.

I just spent my lunch hour looking at P&S digital cameras :rolleyes1 You guys are a bad influence! Now I have to figure out how to take my phone and a camera with me!

I agree with Carrie! You have to do what's comfortable and what works for you. Don't worry about what other people could say about you. Btw, if I said that to my mom, she would have worn the fanny pack (whether she needed it or not) just to spite me :)

Vicky - lol. I put my camera in my amphipod iPod pouch and my phone either clips on my belt or is in teh pack. Buy, buy, buy.... ;)

And here I thought running was suppose to be a cheap sport to take up :) Oh well, I guess it's good for the economy right? I'll have to Google the iPod pouch. I haven't heard of that brand before. I have a Fuel Belt it has a pocket that will fit my phone or camera (I think). I hadn't planned on taking it though ... Does the Amiphod attach to any type of belt?

VIcky - Her's teh link. Gown down towards teh lower right. It's teh small, rapid access pouch. It has a "loop" on the back to slide over a belt. If teh belt is not as wide as amphipod, it may bounce a bit. http://www.amphipod.com/8400/8400.html

Thanks for the link Carrie! I'll have to check out my local running store for that one. If I can't find one, I might take my Camelback pouch (minus the water bag). It's actually pretty roomy ... which may or may not be a good thing since I have a habit on loading up on things when I know I have the space :)
