Hi - just been reading the reviews about the character tea parties. We are planning to visit on 24 March 08 - this is as a birthday treat for DD who is 5 in March and DS who is 3 at the beginning of April - could we upgrade to a birthday tea party and would both children get a birthday goody bag and cuddly toy? Do you have to provide proof of their birthdays - as it is not thei rbirthdays when we are there - DD's just before we go and DS's just after we get back :) also - how do i book this? we are not going for a package deal but are booking holiday inn separately and hoping to get annual passes when we get back...

We booked it at City Hall.
My understanding from another thread is that you book however many birthday teas you want and then the others as normal teas.
It doesnt matter if its their actual birthday or not.
You may end up getting 2 birthday cakes though

Hi Tinkerbell - tell me more - what was it like? What did you get in your Goodie Bag :)

I called them 2 weeks ago to book a birthday tea at the Plaza Gardens for my DD2 who will be 3, 2 weeks after we go to DLP. They didn't want any proof of age and said I would be charged the birthday tea price for DD2 and I would be charged the normal amount for the rest in the party.

As we haven't been yet, I've yet to see if this works out, but it seemed quite a simple process when I booked over the phone.

Which is the difference between characters tea party and characters birthday party? The price for the first is 13 € and for the second 18 €.

But the difference? The place and the time are same. Is it only the cake (one cake for birthday or one for all?) and the little present for the child?

Its a big cake - not an individual-size one.

Enough for a family, and then lots left over to share! You can also ask for the cake (or whatever portion is left after you've had a piece at the tea party) to be boxed up for you to take with you.

The extra 5 euros is only paid for the birthday child - you pay normal price for the others in your party. And yes, the birthday child also gets a gift.

Hiya it looks like we will be getting two cakes as i have accidentally booked two birthday teas instead of one birthday and one normal!!:thumbsup2

hi - does anyone have a phone number to book this in advance and also does anyone know what pressies they are giving out for the b'day child? thanks

Hi,

The Dining Reservation Service takes bookings for the character tea party and birthday character tea party - the phone number is 0033 160304050.

You will be able to cancel at the party, the cakes are large and very very rich, believe me you wouldn't want 2 of them.
On one of our trips I booked a cake on night 1 for DS and again on the last day for my, I cancelled mine, we couldn't face a second one. :)

I booked 5 minutes ago. The price 18 € is for all the family, NON only per the birthday child. I ask me 18 € x 3.

we paid 2 x 18 euro's on Monday, and got one cake (which we've brought home untouched!) plus one toy and a card. It was a great 'party' but I would recommend waiting right near the doors well before your time, as we ended up right at the back and it was 15 mins after our time before we got seated and missed a couple of characters:sad2: Definately recommended!:thumbsup2

The last couple of times I've done it, the toy was a Mickey plush. The cakes look nice and it's cool for kids - always see lots of hardly touched cakes. My advice is to make sure to spend plenty of time and enjoy it. Too many people rush in and out.

what toy did you get dee? thanks, debxx

it was a Mickey that sings "Happy Birthday" about 8" high (not sure if I got a dodgy one but noticed it's coming unstitched and is a bit grubby but still sweet for a 40 year old!!!!!).

The characters were excellent - especially King John (from Robin Hood) and Tigger.
The hash browns were yummmmmmy!
Overall good value and fun:thumbsup2
