Character schedules

Is there any schedules that would give me information as to when we may encounter any of the characters? Not sure when my DD would overcome her fear of characters, so I am hoping to plan visits to either Disneyland or WDW and be able to know where in the park I should avoid so she doesn't have her deadly, highpitched, screams as she is climbing up my side moments. This may be a lost cause too. I may have to wait until she is older (she's 6 right now). Having her watch Disney trip planing DVD's doesn't seem to help.

Kenny the Pirate is a member on here and has good updates.

Is it a "they dont come near me, Im fine" thing or "if I see one from across the park I flip" thing? If it is the latter, it may be hard to visit WDW at all at this point. Characters are everywhere! Have you tried the princess first? They are just girls in pretty dresses after all!
